You don't have to soft reset to do an encounter you know! you can always run away from the regice, and redo the floor patterns on the ground!

I never did any serious breeding pre-SwSh. The newer mechanics making things easier and quicker are what got me to do it.
As for shiny breeding I just like it as it's easy to stock up a lot of eggs and then get a lot of rolls in a pretty short time. Due to my dislike for soft resets it's the best method for me.
I do need to do it in waves though. I've already shiny bred a lot of Pokemon so if I do too many in a row I'll get bored too eventually =P

I only shiny breed if the pokemon can't be found in the wild, I much prefer wild encounters.

I found a shiny elekid from the Odd Egg in crystal. I know the odds are high, but it was still nice.
