Switzerland is a weird country. People pay to be allowed to lend them money for two years. And the 30-year bond has a 1.8% interest.

Also, fun fact: I'm still confused by this XD

English: Three thousand = 3,000 One and eight tenths = 1.8
Spanish: Three thousand = 3.000 One and eight tenths = 1,8

206901. Went is confused by this:

In English, we use 3,000 to write three thousand. In Spanish, they use 3.000 to write three thousand. In English, we use 1.8 to write one and eight-tenths. In Spanish, they use 1,8 to write one and eight-tenths.

Although I prefer my American systems because AMERICA IS THE HIPSTER COUNTRY!

Here, we use 3000 to write three thousand. And 1,8 to write one and eight-tenths.
At least I always did.

Also, new really good song, released today.

What's wrong with us for measuring in feet and yards instead of using the Metric System?

Because you're the only ones that don't use this particular SI unit.

Oh well, every country does something different from everyone else.

* And donavannj, you lose two brownie points for referring to the US as "the hipster country".

206904. Yep, you are right smithism.

Random fact: It's illegal to view moose through an airplane in Alaska

This.

Regarding the current topic, I remember seeing a book that had a whole bunch of similar stupid laws in various states; wish I had it with me now. I think Ripley's Believe It Or Not!: Planet Eccentric!, a book I currently own, also features a few of them as trivia. The only one that made sense was one that I think stated that once you're on a game show, you can't be on another one for a certain period of time; a year or so IIRC. IMO, it makes sense so one person isn't hoarding all of the prize/contest money...

I'm still wondering exactly what were the thought processes of the people who enacted those dumb laws, and when those stupid laws will actually be abolished, because there's probably some obscure strict police officer somewhere who will try to annoyingly enforce those laws. -_- Laws like these make me weep for humanity at times, because: 1. someone approved those laws, and 2. most likely, someone probably got into a seriously stupid accident (possibly Darwin Award worthy? idk) that somehow required those laws to be made. Sigh...

Since we're on the subject of stupid laws: In Florida, it is illegal for a person to *ahem* touch a porcupine.

Um...so exactly what are you supposed to do if the porcupine touches you? :cer_confused:

First TCTI post in like 4 months... @_@
