E-mail has its points though, this site is no different to any other in that to register users must supply a valid E-mail.
Or they could do away with email, and members must supply a valid IM. XD

Well, I (for one), still email my friends abroad because they don't use forums and their timezones are different so I can't catch them on MSN/AIM. Also, business use emails for attachments and whatnot, as well as casual chat. The email system is (in a way) the equivalent to the chatspeak system. It existed as soon as the internet got hyped up and it isn't going to go away anytime soon.

I agree.

I have alot of friends abroad that I love to keep in touch with, and that is only done through email. I mean the time difference between Boston, and Tokyo is so extreme I would have to be up at 7:00am, to talk to them at like 10:00 (most definitely completely in accurate xD) on msn. Email simply makes everything easier.

I love how they throw "Used in E-Mail" in there. Emails are like so.... 5 years ago. These days the new things are blogs, forums, chats, and IMs. No one uses emails anymore. XD
Except my mom.
E-mails have definitely left a mark in technology history though.

I know, like when my teacher says I sent everybody a e-mail about the change then everybody says they never check there e-mail,,, all of my teachers are out of date lol:D

Real people prefer to use email.

I check my email like every two days or something though incase these real people email me.

I check my e-mail to see if I get e-mails from my cousins overseas, if I want to chat with friends I go on MSN or facebook.

I never check my email, cause hardly anyone emails me. Phone, IM, and texting's where it's at, people. Unless it's too long for any of those.

I check my email because I have too!

I have information on my volunteering services, I just found out that I'M GETTING MY MIKU HATSUNE FIGURINE FRIDAY ^O^, I learn about college visits, and I hear about scholarships and whatnot.

Email's important nowadays!

I still don't get why people don't use email much when it comes to online communities. I check mine obsessively. I get important school emails, emails from my parents, and... most importantly, LJ comment notifications. *dork* XD;

But yeah, if I don't have a Gmail notifier installed, I have to keep my email open in a browser window/tab so that I can see right away when I have an email. D:

I agree with Chibi. E-mail's important! I get so much school stuff through e-mail mostly tickets for sale as Husker football is srs bsns or requests for notes. Speaking of which, I had to send an e-mail with my essay for my teacher to use. XD; Apparently it was good. Funny, I thought it was crap.

I also get e-mails from Grandma, as it's a lot easier for her to e-mail me than send letters. I'm terrible at letter-writing. I really should send one to my other grandparents. And I don't have a phone (should next week if I get on it!), so it's not like I can call anyone right now. D: So e-mail helps me keep in touch with some of my family that I otherwise wouldn't talk to.

Now, you might be able to make an argument that paper mail is slowly getting outed by e-mail, but even that's really shaky. I don't think you can say IMs and forums are getting rid of e-mail at all. Maybe in this tiny slice of the Pokemon fandom, but not for the Web as a whole. o_O

I check mine a lot, but I rarely send e-mails. I have about... four I use on a regular basis. One is for my Facebook, one is for family, one is for MSN business and IRL friends, and the last one is for all the miscellaneous crap and the main one where I send whatever e-mails I have.

Otherwiiiise... I don't normally have things I need to e-mail to people unless it's work/volunteer related, and that in itself is very rare, so I seldom e-mail and usually use MSN to communicate. XD;

E-mail is still great. I must check mine every 2 hours.

Yet once I discovered AIM, E-mail seems so slow...

eh like Zet I mostly use my email to receive notifications from websites, job offers and the like. The only real use of it is from my university that always send crap through there :(

Though once there was this survey thing in there and I went and got thirty dollars \o/

You actually got money? =/ Most of those things are just scams...
