"Thread title (original 'The 'ANDY IS ALWAYS RIGHT' Chit-Chat') changed"
Whoever changed it from that needs to be demoted. XD

I wouldn't mind going to see the Bleach movie in theaters... I mean just to see it on the big screen (not like my TV isn't big enough... XD). But I personally think the movie was rushed *saw the sub*. But the Bleach movie I want to see is Bleach: The DiamondDust Rebellion.... OMG That movie looks sooooooo awesome. And it has Toshiro as a main.... Must.... get..... movie....

Yes... I'm taking my pills like I should... everyone stop looking at me.... <_<;;;;

I don't want to see that movie...
I'm not really fond of CG movies, but I guess that's where everything is going nowadays...also, I don't see the funny or the plot; not fond of Jack Black as the voice :\

*Has the first season of Bleach on DVD*
But I watch the sub eps online. I mean I like the dub... but the sub is so far ahead.
The second movie is so going to be better then the first.... I mean I'm not complaining about the first... but I think the ending was rushed.

And stare long enough you'll go blind. XD

I like the sub too. It's not censored like the american version. I prefer to watch anime like that. It's got more action and background to it, unlike the version the US has. Parts missing and certain words censored out.

I know D: The American series is sooooooooo for behind, they havet even seen a bount yet in the American dub!
I think I just lost my sight *Runs into wall*

I hate censorship >.> The language adds to the drama and the emotional appeal. Also the Japanes voice actors sound much better <3

This is an instance where not actually knowing Japanese really degrades your ability to put up a good argument. You're basically trusting a bunch of high-schoolers and college students with no real practical knowledge of the language to interpret the show for you; being the adolescents they are, of course they're going to think it's a good idea to throw in gratuitous profanity, even where it didn't exist to begin with. Also, how would you know whether the Japanese sound better? Again, since you don't know the language, you can't really compare them to their English-speaking counterparts.

I meant that I like the way the Japanese voice actor's voices SOUND. >.>
and I don't care how well they translate it, as long as Im getting the general idea of what's being said and going on.

Inuyasha, Rurouni Kenshin, and .HACK//SIGN all had really good English dubs. If you ask me, I think it depends on how popular the show is in Japan that influences how good the dubs are...The more people that'll watch, the better the acting, right?

Needlessly throwing in random expletives can be pretty darn annoying though, and to be fair, the Japanese do edit their own content. Anime will often be edited down for the T.V. airing (Gurren Lagann and Witchblade come to mind) and be totally uncut for their DVD releases.

Anywho, I'm of the mind to think that an English dub can meet or surpass the bar set by its Japanese counterpart. There are various times when I've watched a Japanese dub and then the English dub and thought the English version was so much better. Watching a show in Japanese first may affect your opinion of the English dub but if the dub is good, then it won't matter.

I like to believe most of us are a bit unwillingly biased when it comes to TV dubs in general.

For instance, there's the eternal Mexican vs Spanish Simpsons dub debate. I'm Mexican and I personally prefer it dubbed by Mexicans; some of my comrades prefer it in English for its "freshness" and I'm yet to meet a Spanish fellow who doesn't prefer it dubbed in Spain.

It might just all come down to the way each person was introduced to a series/TV genre. Taking that into account, it merely may be a harmless matter of taste. Just my two cents.

It depends on how good the dubbing is. :<
If I don't like it, I'll just go find a subbed version of the anime.

I don't care for dubs most of the time. I like the subs better & I love the Japanese voices. English voices usually make me cringe.

I agree with Ashley, if the dub's good, then I'll watch it. If not, then I'll watch subs. Well really I kind of think it depends on what you hear first if you like it or not. For example, I saw Furuba with the dub and I thought it was really good. When I heard the Japanese version I was like "You know what? Screw this." Same thing when I was watching Haruhi. I saw the dub first, and then I didn't want to watch the sub.

Jack:
I don't think she meant it that way. XD;

Kisa:
The Haruhi dub is awesome. <3<3

Some people just have their likes, and dislikes.
Some people like to watch their anime subbed, others dubbed.
And some..it depends on the anime. me [Shot'd]

If there's a dub available, and it's a good quality dub, then I'll usually prefer it over sub. The Bleach, FMA, and Haruhi dubs are all excellent from what I've seen, but some of them (usually the ones by 4kids) are just so bad that you miss a bunch of stuff that was in the original.
