I need to tend to my threads in Other Clubs and Culture & Media, I already let my B/W ones die. :/ And post there a bit more.
I hang out all over the place. It can be Emulation, BW, OC, OT, VG, I go everywhere practically. xD
Well, I don't think they're insignificant people at all. They're some of this country's leaders; that's hardly insignificant. However I agree that a simply unnecessary amount of time and money was wasted on pair of people who really had no need to be any more extravagant than the next,
Ok new topic time:
Horray the royal wedding is over!
They aren't leaders, they're really just symbolism to their past or something. But they don't have any power.Well, I don't think they're insignificant people at all. That does make more sense now. So many people coming to see a palace. I guess I don't see it so weird now.People keep bringing up the money element, which is significant to a certain degree but has taken on a life of its own for some reason. Yes, the wedding was extravagant and expensive... but I can guarantee that it probably didn't make as much of a loss as people think, and may have even turned a profit. Most of the funds were paid by the Royal Family as well as the Middletons - sunk costs, essentially - and any 'lost' money would easily be made up by the massive tourism hike that London experienced in the days leading up to (and a few after) the wedding.
The whole tourism element is the main reason why I'm not that bothered about getting rid of the monarchy. Like it or not, people come from all over the world to see Buckingham Palace. If the royals go, Britain loses one of its largest tourist attractions and all of the moolah that comes with it.
