Because guns are cool. And wars are, too. (except when you take part in them)

We'll be fighting with sticks and rocks? AWESOME! 8D
Wars are never cool, guns aren't either, well for me at least.

I can imagine an army running into combat with a bunch of sticks and stones in their hands.

Sticks and stones may break my bones...but I won't be doing much after that ._.

War is stupid. Why would you want to go to war? To serve your country? Save the bull, you want to kill people.

I do karate, but being in the army or what-not is not on the list of things I'd want to do, really, but each person to his/her own, I suppose. 'Course, if we're talking video games, there may be allowances... -_-

Heh, I also like that Einstein quote. He said a lot of things...which isn't all that surprising. -_-

I thought about joining the armed forces at one point in high school. It seemed like an exciting prospect at the time, and I thought it might be a good experience. In the end, I decided on taking the normal route and simply heading off to a university...But it's a good choice for some people.

Do you honestly think everyone in any army is there because they 'want to kill people'? That sounds pretty absurd to me.

And then there's the part where serving your country might be an honorable and worthwhile thing to do...

Yeah cause slaughtering and torturing a bunch of innocent people or even worse but more likely a whole country just so politics can be played and money can be made is so honorable. Our grandparents had it lucky. You were a hero cause you were a hero! You weren't a pawn in the game they call politics and all. Sorry bout that if you think wars today are fair but they aren't.

Uh...

No one said war was fair. War never changes...Innocent people die, and good people sometimes do bad things. It's the price you pay, but sometimes you have to do what's necessary.

I respect any man or woman that joins the military, they have nothing to be ashamed of.

Maybe the US is different but in the UK the people going into the army are of the simplest kind. I can only see them wanting to equip a gun and shooting people.

Maybe not everyone is like that but war is stupid. You're brave for it and I give you that but yes, you're a political pawn as someone said.

War is stupid, but whether we like it or not, it's going to happen. Someone is always going to disagree with someone else about religious or political ideologies, and these disagreements are always going to create cold and harsh feelings between different nations. I'm not saying that war is the right thing to do in any situation, but it seems to be man-kinds tool of choice to resolve conflict given our history, and I don't think we'll be changing basic human nature anytime soon...

What's up with all these simple-minded members here?

I know people who want to honestly fight for their country when needed- and not because they think shooting people is cool.

And while killing is wrong, it is sometimes necessary, like in wars.

Did you guys hear about the US military man who was overpaid by a few cents?

By overpaying US soldiers, the government was wasting like $270 million dollars a year.

msnbc article

270 sorry

Speaking of wars and such, let's predict when World War III breaks out. I predict within the next ten years.

Anyways, how was all y'all's day today?

It'll be sooner than that, Spencer.

My day was... boring as always. XD

2015 is going to be the year.

It's going to be mainly focused on the Middle East which pretty much controls the main waterways. This'll piss off Britain and France, will come in. Then since the States are, like, 'OMG I WANT INZ', they'll come with their big nukes and guns. China will jump in with their army of six million, then die off from not getting enough food.

Aussies will then laugh when all of it's fellow European and Americans countries are fighting.

War is somehow simpler. It is dependent on one side succeeding. The alternative is both sides compromising or purposely backing down without a fight. Unlikely and unlikely.
