...Ah, of course I would not be quick enough to finish editing before another post showed up:
That is also true. Even if a majority of members do ask for the return of PC Presidential Elections, whether or not such actually happens is still ultimately up to the staff.
Perhaps, but I'd say a large majority enjoy it either way. And although I know PC hasn't been known to be a full democracy in the past on things, where it's either yay or nay, maybe there should be a vote on whether or not the community would enjoy having it back. That would clear up the dust on why specifically people wouldn't want to hold it.
In my honest opinion, if you're against a PC election, you'd pretty much be against the establishment of anything 'new' and 'unique' into this forum. I mean, we can't talk about cake 10,000 times in the DCC, it gets repetitive XD And each section of the forum goes through it's lulls and rollercoasters of activity (Roleplays, battling, graphic art, etc.) so something fun and involvement might shake the place up a bit.
I'm in favor of having a vote on Presidency. Or at least have the staff go vote on it. XD Just as long as, if it's denied, better explanations are provided as to why, rather then just letting the topic be pushed to the back of our brains.
If a majority found the idea to be acceptable, would it not already be back in place? Indeed, many more members have joined since then, and the vote might change because of that. However, have many of the older members had a change of heart regarding the issue? ...All that I am saying here is that getting one's hopes up based mostly on the responses of a small group of users, only a few of whom happen to be staff, is not exactly realistic.
I believe that Ausaudriel already summarized the general argument against it: it would only amount to another popularity contest, which some people believe is covered in the Member of the Month.
...Since when is cake repetitive!?
Though of course, I have to bring up the point that not everything that the majority of members want around will be coming. Take clans in the battle thread, for example. While a good number of people were for them(and I myself was in the middle of designing one when they were banned), they were ultimately rejected because they caused too much spam, and thus too much work for the mods than was necessary. If an PC election ends up too spammy as Clans ultimately ended up, it'll most likely receive the same fate.
