:( My high school even had a special area to smoke in the back so that people weren't smoking inside the building or right beside the doors. I thought that was a really smart thing to add and I wonder why all high schools don't have something similar.

You have a point there. It's right. That's why some quitters are using special chewing gums or you know...
Yeah. It's not always just about willpower to quit--some peoples' bodies are just so accustomed to smoking at certain times that quitting is not only daunting for their mind, but their bodies won't cooperate. So the specialized gums or the patch definitely helps and it's not (totally) their fault if they need the extra time to ween themselves off the habit. They might have a stronger addiction in the first place, or may be more dependent on the drug. /shrug

Wow... I must say. I haven't saw so many cigarette haters in one place for a long time... Seems I can't talk about brands of cigs here.

I always have to get through a "smoke-zone" when I'm going to school.
It's forbidden to smoke inside the school, so the smokers smoke right at the entrance.

Why whats wrong with your High School?

A kid died last year from lung cancer and he was only 19.

We're generally wise when it comes to our health.

I learned this the hard way when I actually had a high school friend who constantly missed classes and resorted to doing rather shifty under-the-table deals so he can get himself enough cigarettes to satisfy his addiction. I argued with him many times...oh lord, if only you knew how much anguish and pain this addiction of his actually caused him and his peers alike. It bacame obvious to me numerous times that his body was far too accustomed to the bad habit and the couple of times he did try to stop smoking ended up with him shaking to the extreme and screaming for help.

One day...his dad made him go cold turkey. >___>;

Overall it was a painful experience, but nothing was more painful for him than being forced to do that. His body went through stages of jitters and internal instability, and the room he was locked into was trashed by his desperate attempt to find cigarettes and escape. Oh and the screaming...the crashing of furniture, the crying, the loud body slams...it was an absolutely horrific experience.

Some people can't quit smoke suddenly. It can be very slow and gradual process for some smokers.

Yeah, I understand that. But there are smokers that have actually been forced to give up their habit all at once, the same can be said for drug takers. There is a high risk of that causing very harmful after effects to their bodies, but I do know that it has been possible for some people to live a more decentish life after they go through it. I know the boy I described did exactly that.

Omg, I'm so glad there's a ban on smoking inside public buildings here too. :s And on campus (unless that's the law everywhere idek), it's forbidden to smoke within 10 metres of a building which is so great. ;~;
People actually follow those bans there? Lucky. My school imposed on an on campus smoking ban...oh my birthday, actually! It's like people don't see or care about those signs plastered all over the place that tell them smoking is prohibited within 30 yards of any school building. I want to take a picture of it one day, just because it's amusingly depressing to see a pack of people smoking right in front of one of those signs. Either they're idiots or just don't care. D:

That's obvious.
I do know a lot of very addicted smokers, but no one of them hadn't been forced to quit or didn't quit for themselves.

They may not follow them extensively--like I'll often see people smoking near a building, but for the most part they're considerate enough to smoke away from doors or windows. (Not super far, but far enough that it doesn't bother the people going in and out all the time.)

Its banned most places here, but after so many years of people disregarding the rule they just leave it be :/

They do follow the bans here, because the fines are very very high. 400 and something euros, I believe.
Haha, they're supposed to be roughly the same here, but those fines were lowered because city council members thought it was ridiculous to toss such heavy fines to a relatively "harmless" crime. Though I personally think it's BS, why impose the ban at all if you aren't going to enforce it? Police generally don't do anything about it and read in the paper here that one actually got reprimanded for trying to enforce it to a specific degree, which was essentially him actually threatening the fine (bumped down to about $50) while he could have been policing and keeping an eye out for actual criminal offenses rather than a petty offense.

Yeeeeah, people don't do that here. XD; It's kinda ridiculous and makes me question the ban in the first place since no one actually does anything about it. I always have to deal with it when I walk from building to building or am just outside and it gets annoying because you really can't go anywhere to escape it while being outside.

I smoked started smoking when i first entered high school for 9th grade.As i was walking up to school there were a bunch of grade 10-12 graders sitting on the corner smoking and i came up to them asking what they were doing they said smoking you want one i said sure.

Thru out grade 9 i smoked and then once i got into grade 10 i stopped because i noticed i was only smoking so people think i was cool and it is not cool.

I am also only turning 16 in 2 months and you can't buy cigs here intill ure age 18 so its a pain in ass trying to find a adult to buy them for you.

More people need to post in Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum btw
