I've never seen the appeal in it either. u_u; I'm not as sensitive to cigarette smoke as a lot of people I know but I still hate the smell of it.

But I can understand how it can be so addicting and it honestly just makes me feel sorry for those who get into the habit and can't break it. :( Not only is it unhealthy but it's really expensive, too, since governments keep the price of tobacco pretty high with taxes and the like to try to steer people away from it, iirc.

edit: To clarify, I feel sorry for those who get into the habit too young or without thinking of the consequences and then can't break it later on in life when they have. If you smoke because you want to and have no intention of quitting, then I don't really care either way so long as you respect the laws on smoking. :p

I'm really sensitive to it. My schools bathroom smells heavily of smoke. Each time I go in there my eyes water and my eyes get red T-T So I have to wait till I get home lol

Basically, but cigarettes will never be banned. If people learned anything from the Volstead Act, it's that banning a popular item will do absolutely nothing positive.
 
Rich cigarette smokers will smoke anyway. They won't care about the taxes.
A little bit of strong will and time and it's not a problem to quit. People are just too lazy and just don't want to. They like having addictions.

Idk I know being around smoke just makes me want to spray myself with lots of perfume because it's still on me, even if I just walk by. :(

Yea for some reason they make my eyes turn a little red, I don't know why though. I asked my doctor and he doesn't know either xD
 
Omg, I'm so glad there's a ban on smoking inside public buildings here too. :s And on campus (unless that's the law everywhere idek), it's forbidden to smoke within 10 metres of a building which is so great. ;~;

I do not think it is as easy to shake an addiction as you think it is. :p

Though not that I'd really know, I suppose. ._.

Are you allergic to cigarette smoke?

Believe me, it is. Quitting it is easier than quitting from alcoholism or drugs. In my country for sure. Anyway, I have this ban too. People can smoke in their houses or in the street anyway. But it did help a lot.

Apparently students can smoke at my uni ;___________;

I walk by and see people smoking and I'm like "pfft :("
 
I am always laughing about those, who smoke before their drivers license exam, because they're smoking like crazy - pack of cigs is emptying extremely fast. Of course I will probably do the same, but it looks funny.

In my school too. What's a surprise - people just stop smoking there and today if someone want to smoke, he'll go outdoors.

That still doesn't make it "easy", nor does everyone have the same ability to quit something. For some it might be as easy as throwing out your last pack and refusing to buy more but others have far more issues with it. Due to the nature of addictions, I don't think willpower is all there is to it. It may not be as "serious" an addiction as one to harder drugs or alcohol but an addiction is still an addiction and to say anyone who can't quit just "likes being addicted" is kinda... :(

Remember me not to ever get close to your uni.

In mine, people hide under the stairs to smoke, when they could simply walk 200 metres, exit the building and leave the campus and smoke on the street XD Damn lazy people.
 
The kids and people just don't care where I live, as long as there are no police/officials are around they're fine.

I dunno, it might be illegal to smoke on-campus but I just noticed that so...I dunno. Hopefully it is illegal but they weren't trying to hide it so... D:

You have a point there. It's right. That's why some quitters are using special chewing gums or you know...
 
There are...bus shelters and huts around my high school where people go to have a smoke and...unfortunately for me, around the time I was still in high school, I had no choice but to walk to and from school, and the one path I could take from school to home involved having to pass by these teenagers who had lit a cigarette and started puffing smoke like chimneys. It became practically second nature to me to cover my face with my hand and shield myself with my long hair so they don't see me.

As for college...I only see one or two people smoking in the student car park from time to time. I had to shoo somebody away once because they were smoking and leaning on my car at the same time. XD; But otherwise it isn't so bad there as it was back in high school.
