For some reason(I guess it's out of instinct) I've always used Google's search engine, and now that I think about it, I agree with what you said hands down. It doesn't really take any time to process any searches. That and... I don't really trust Yahoo search anyway. D:

It's also worth noting that Microsoft's Bing gets comparable results to Google, but is nowhere near as lightweight and took several years to develop.

Google really is the top dog in the class of search engines, for me. So many unique ways to search, and so efficient, at that. :D

On the Windows side, here's how I'd place the browsers from personal experience:

1. Firefox - Memory leaks aside (which I've never encountered), I like it.
2. Chrome - Speedy, lightweight, but not quite compatible with everything Firefox is yet. Unusual interface. Not much chance to get under the hood, though.
3. Opera - Just a bit of a resource hog, but solid.
4. Internet Explorer 8 - Still has some compatibility issues, but not too bad. Would rather use any of the above three, though, over it.
5. IE 7 - Not too bad, but has security issues because it's not current.
5. Safari - Windows version is appalling. Gotten slightly better since last June, though. I must say it is very lightweight for a browser.
6. Flock - Basically Firefox 2 geared toward social networking. No add-on support as far as I can tell.
7. Maxthon - Weird browser that's an IE rip-off.

And those are all the one's I've used that are still being supported somewhat.

Firefox is my main browser because I've become really dependent on its addons. But my alt is Chrome which I rather enjoy. I just don't like the GUI (tab bar is horrible, imo >_<) and I can't get used to the fact that it doesn't have the same functionality as my Firefox. u_u

I also think the interface of Safari is absolutely hideous but I have Mac-using friends who might hit me for saying that. XD;

I'd really like Opera as an alt browser but Chrome is just a lot faster. D:
