The Everstone

An Everstone is an item that once held by a Pokemon, it prevents evolution. However it will NOT work on Pokemon such as Pokemon that evolve through evolutionary stones, or Kadabra. However, most trade evolution Pokemon will not evolve when holding an everstone in a trade. This happened in Diamond/Pearl with an in-game trade w/a Haunter named Gaspar that is holding an Everstone upon receiving it. (What a troll, am I right?)

The Everstone also is very helpful w/breeding in later generations. If one parent holds an everstone, the Pokemon will pass its nature down, so this item has more to it than just preventing evolution.

Do you use the everstone in game? If so, what Pokemon did you use it on? Do you wish Everstones were instead an item you use on a Pokemon, rather than it being a held item?

there are some good uses for it outside of breeding. i had to nab a bunch of them when doing the christian challenge years ago bc you're not allowed to evolve your mons for that one. it's also good if you want to hold out on an evolution to get a certain move or learn it earlier than the evolution learns it. no examples off the top of my head for that but ya know. and then sometimes u dead ass don't wanna evolve ur pokemon COUGH braixen

I think it being a held item is fine especially if you're not planning on keeping it on the pokemon for long only for breeding or for a few levels so it can learn a move earlier or something.

That said that's normally why i use an everstone. I think there may have been once or twice i didnt want the pokemon to evolve so it stayed on the pokemon semi-permanently so i wouldn't have to hold down the B button every level but that's not often (normally during challenge runs )

I used it when I was still into breeding competitive mons. I also came across a couple Pokemon with them back when I was completing my Pokedex through the GTS. They were usually the type of Pokemon who had the chance of holding an Everstone when caught in the wild. I also doubt that most of the people who put them up there actually knew they were holding one.

Other than that it just ends up being a rock in my inventory that I never end up using. It's not an Eviolite afterall. Still, it should stay a hold item, even if it's just for the gimmick.

I vaguely remember giving my Phanpy and Teddiursa an Everstone back in the GSC days because I thought they were mega adorable and didn't want to evolve them. :D Also used it for the unevolved run I never finished did in X. Nowadays I mostly use it for breeding purposes. For battles I'd prefer using the Eviolite for those boosted stats and would just deal with hitting B every time to prevent evolution if needed.

naahhh. I've never really used it outside of breeding. I don't think there's very many times where I've needed to stop an evolution because of a pre-evo exclusive move, so I don't bother with its intended use a lot of time.
