Sports The Football Discussion Thread!

Le Fondre and Macheda to go with those two from the other day. It seems that Tan and Ole are going for the 'my first save on football manager' approach. I suppose if they sign everybody that happens to be available some of them will probably work out.

Not sure why any 'on the up' manager like Pochettino would go to Spurs, considering their recent manager history. Career wise I think another season or two of building at Southampton could have seen him on to better things. Feel pretty sorry for the Southampton fans, I can see that talented squad of theirs getting ripped apart this summer.

Storm around Norwich has calmed over the last couple of days. Fans are back to the usual overreaction to every stupid rumour in the Mirror or Sun. Apparently we've OFFERED Ruddy to Arsenal and Snodgrass is off to Hull for 3 million quid! At least it will calm down a bit during the World Cup.

Surely not. As Nuke said it will be somebody with a flashy foreign name.

Or McClaren, but then he has some flashy clubs on his resumé.

Other names I've been hearing are Laudrup and de Boer, if they're fancy enough I guess.

They'll do. Looks like Koeman is the favourite at the moment. Whoever it is will do a good job to be in charge in 2015.

Super exciting news, looks like Norwich are going to pinch Gary Holt from Falkirk for the vacant assistant manager position. Rated the guy as a player and he seems to have been doing pretty well at Falkirk. #jobsfortheoldguard #keepingitinthefamily #HALLONEYUL

Yakim would be my first choice. Followed by do Boer and Laudrup, anyone who can continue the 'Southampton Way' thoroughly gets my nod. In other news, yet to renew my season ticket and I probably should do shortly.

I know nothing about Murat Yakin's career, seen a lot of Saints fans wanting him but I'm not really sure why. Looks like the betting has all been on Ronald Koeman though, now he would be fantastic. Well, whatever you do it certainly doesn't look like your board are going to pussy out and bring in a defensive coach after major success playing forwards.

So Norwich hired Joe Royle as a ''footballing consultant'' whatever that means. Well, I guess it adds a lot of experience to a backroom staff that has very little. He was the Ipswich boss during my first few seasons watching Norwich.

Also Gary Holt and Mark Robson confirmed as members of the coaching team. My hashtag about keeping it was fully justified. Well, I'm not sold at all on this but I suppose it can't be worse than Hughton, Calderwood and Trollope.

Heh, I was just about to make a sarcy comment on how you might have a better shot of getting a conversation on that started over here. Plastic count is way higher over there than it is here.

lel it didn't take long for silly season to start. An hour after the coaching appointments the Daily Mail are saying Hooper is demanding a transfer and will join Villa or QPR. Replacing him will be Jordan Rhodes, or at least Simon Thomas the Norwich supporting Sky presenter says so anyway. Why would Rhodes make a sideways move to a club that surely wouldn't top his current pay? Would a Premier League side gamble on a 6 goals striker that would probably cost a chunk more than the 5 mill we signed him for?

Just to reply to everything. Lambert move won't work out well probably, but it's nice for him while it lasts. One of the better players Soton could sell out of their first teamers anyway.

I'm sure Went will miss Villa. If Lampard joins as well then that's a great start for the franchise.

I would've thought Norwich could do better if they needed serious support for Adams, but we'll see how this setup works out. Pretty sure Adams will be sacked within the first few months of the season and replaced by Holt or one of the other guys that joined yesterday.

Lambert doesn't have to 20 goals next season. He'll only play in some of the Cup games and when one SAS is injured. Or he might come off the bench in some games. 10 goals would be good enough for him. And he takes penalties too.

Soooo... an American expansion club just signed Villa as its first player ever. Will he be missed in Spain?

Villa was a sale from Barcelona (€2M), he's pretty old already to be honest, and everything he did for us last year is more than we could have ever expected from him. I can only thank him a million times and wish him a good time in his retirement in NY.

So apparently Norwich are going head to head with Boro, Derby and Cardiff (who have already signed 3 forwards) for Bournemouth striker Lewis Grabban. Now that feels much more likely than the last one saying we were about to go for Jordan Rhode$.

No chance of our involvement in trying to acquire him being true, we definitely have no money to compete there. :P

Poor start for England, but this Ecuador side will get to the QFs so I'm alright with it given the weird experiments.
