5th Gen The Generation Five Speculation Thread

Bar the third generation, every super effective move you get before reaching the first gym is extremely weak (20 power).

Hey guys, I was also thinking. Instead of Nintendo copy/pasting all the sprites from HG/SS into the game as well, all five generations have their very own, fifth generation freshly-made sprite? They could also do a better job with the sprite animations of Pokémon/people.

I definitely think Wind Waker-esque graphics are possible for the next gen, although I'll be happy as long as they are a significant improvement over the previous generations. The DS has much more capacity graphics-wise than what the fourth gen requires. I really have no idea what they'll do, but I will be extremely disappointed if the graphics remain at the standard of the fourth gen.

Pokemon Onyx Version is extremely unlikely since, well, you know...

Spoiler:

I bet that's how Zorua will evolve.

But Pokemon Onyx and Opal sounds so good. And its an alternative to just Black and White. But there is always Jade and Amber.

Firstly No More Eveolutions 7 is enough

I Have always wanted to see a evolution of Donphan i believe it would be interesting and maybe another Porygon evolution

I just hope to see the first pure Flying type Pokemon in the 5th gen.

I found myself a computer!! =D Man did I miss alot.

Short comment on Zorua and Zoroark. Firstly I love Zorua and would probably love Zoroark just as much if it didn't have a ponytail. Thus saying there isn't really a pokemon that I don't like and these are no exception! W00T for 5th gen!!

Okay so all the people out there asking for no Battle Frontier/Battle Tower...huh!? The entire pokemon game is designed for the casual player and yet you complain when one (totally ignorable) competitive aspect of the game is added. The Battle Frontier is immensly popular, I don't see why they'd get rid of it. Now if it's the items that you can only attain through the BP that you don't like then that's fair. I'm not a huge fan of that either. Getting 80 BP for EQ is not fair.

Marilynasol's identification card idea is a good one. I think that'd be awesome.

I, too, think that there is one pokemon deserving of a 4th evolution and it's the Porygon line. Just since it's so unatural anyways. That and Farfetch'd evo for first and only pure flying type!!

I'm actually looking forward to that too. The thing is that flying types commonly get teamed up with normal types because the design does resemble normal as well as flying. Come on designers, we want the pure flying type.

Lol, here`s a list of the fully evolved mono-type starters :

Grass : Meganie, Sceptile
Fire : Thyplosion
Water : Blastoise, Feraligatr

So, Thyplosion is the only fire-monotype starter xD

I'd like them to stick with the sprites.. at least for this gen!

Also, remember when Lucario was our glimpse of Sinnoh? don't one of the gym leaders have him? or was it jsut the E4?

Lucario was Maylene's signature Pokemon and was also used by Cynthia.

ZOMG

You've probably already seen this, but that silhouette of the Pokemon a while back?
It's an entirely new one! I can't post the picture, but head to https://www.serebii.net/generation5/ and see for yourself!

I'd like to see some more uber-typings. Kinda like what Spiritomb has, perhaps Ice/Fire - The Infernal Wood Pokémon?

Also, how about further 3D integrations.
Spoiler:

Well, they did call out all those 3d graphics designers.(staff wanted.) And if it wasn't for Pikachu Park(or whatever the heck that thing is called). Then they might intergrade it into the 5th generation.

I think the whole point of having Pokemon on the DS is that it's portable, easy to play and simple. Having complex 3D characters defeats the point in my opinion so I would prefer to keep things simple and 2D. However, if they're going to make an RPG game for the Wii - that's a different question.

I agree, a lot of the appeal of Pokemon games is the portability, but they could do really well releasing a full game for the Wii.

I'm not on my computer right now (using PS3) so I can't post the pictures but has anyone noticed the eyes of the new pokemon. In the first picture (one with Z standing) both pokemon have "evil" greenish eyes but in the other picture their eyes are light blue. Any thoughts?

This is what happens when a Pokemon is put into the anime, someone's bound to alter the colour, the ones with Blue eyes are by the anime animators, a bit of a silly mistake if you ask me.

Hmm, maybe, or maybe the ones with green eyes are the evil ones from the movie. look at the little one. It looks mean with green eyes but with blue it looks harmless. Same with Z.

When I said 3D, I meant keep all the sprites, but render more, uh, plains; if that makes sense. I don't want a change in that department.

In DP they changed the way buildings and object worked, you could actually walk behind them, perhaps go further into that idea. It has worked well in all of the 4th Gen. games but there wasn't a lot of it to make it completely outstanding.

[EDIT]: Just read a few threads, perhaps '2.5D' is a better term than 3D.
