YunaDances: I like the idea, but the render doesn't match the background. And I dont know what you wanted the banner to look like, theres brushes splattered everywhere. And theres really no focal point :S.
But I cant talk xD.

I have a new banner: I changed my current one a bit.

CheesePeow:
That banner is actually really awesome! I love the way it is simple but looks great too!
Where the text is though, I think that darker bit under the text should be evened out as it draws attention.
Great banner though! Love the font and simplicity!

Ok here is my first attempt at a C4D, smudge banner. This is an assignment in EvilCheese's Photoshop class.

@ Perfectionist: It's good for your first attempt at a smudge banner. Maybe tiy should sharpen your render a bit, and a bit more contrast would be good. Anyways, all in all, it looks good ^^; 8/10.

Stopped making banners for a while, seeing as I was tied for time (school, work, drum lessons etc). But, I somehow found time to make this one:

Loki: The text looks weird in both places o.o And for some reason, it keeps reminding me of that Death Note movie, L: Change the World. lawls. Anyway, it's an interesting banner. But I sort of have mixed feelings about it x___o I don't tend to like it when vectors (with the circles in the background) and effect C4D's are put together. However, you sort of managed to pull it off. What I don't like is that some areas of C4D look a bit messy, especially around the face. I like the colours xP And the flow is alright, even though it sort of goes \ instead of following the render.

Gummy: I can't say I like the blurriness o.o Nor the outer glow around the text, since it looks like the text is hogging up all the attention. It's an interesting mix of vector-ish brushing. They all look okay, especially the scribble sort of brushes in the background, but I don't like how the flowery sort of brushing is in front of the render. Also, I think it needs moar colours~ Ah, and the scanlines seem to fit in.

YunaDances: I agree with CheesePeow on this one. The render totally doesn't match the background xD Especially since the render is all soft, and sort of blurred, whereas the spatters in the background are 'stronger' I guess. And the grid thing in the background looks pretty weird as well. Though I like the fact that there's all those colours in it xD

CheesePeow: ... I like it o.o The colours are a tad bit bright, but in comparison to the old one, it looks a lot better. I like the soft blues, with the white, and the pale yellow~ The text does look a bit distracting, though. And I see slight hints at depth, but it looks mostly flat. I don't really think that the scanlines are needed, but like I would know xP And I was going to say something about lighting, but your banner seemed bright enough to not need lighting.

Perfectionist: That's... pretty good, especially for a first try o.o The colours of the background don't completely match the render, but it looks pretty great. It needs some sharpening, and maybe a little bit of render blending, or perhaps some gradient maps, but otherwise, it looks nice.

Motsuko Live: Hooray for C4D backgrounds xD The effects are pretty cool, but in my opinion, the render needs to be blended into the background even more, because it sort of just sticks out. Gradient maps, or colour blending layers like that should work, I think. And the border seems a bit unnecessary. Or I've just (re)started to like border-less banners o.o

If you didn't notice, my comments got crappier towards the end. Sorry about that. I sort of ran out of things to say >.>

@Perfectionist: It's great for your first attempt at smudging. But I would loose the dotted border though. And maybe blend the render a bit.
I suck at rating

It's okay... the background doesn't really suit the render. I would do a light blue/green background, seeing as the render seems airy and carefree.

The text could have been moved to the right a tad, and some blending effects put in place. Otherwise, I like your use of blending modes!

Wanted to rate; Got a little carried away. Read all, if you dare ^^;

@ Loki: Hmm. I'm a little disappointed with this banner. It seems so cluttered towards the left side, but loosens up towards the right. But it still looks nice; I'd use it in a second. And to answer your question, I think the text looks better on the second image, but is placed better on the first. The placement of the text in the first banner helps fill it out more, while the text on the other one seems to knock the left and right sides off balance. It almost seems overwhelming on the left side. Like I said before, it's definately not your best. It's not so much that it looks bad, it's just that after seeing some of the things you're capable of, it's a little bit of a let down. But that being said, seeing some of the banners you're capable gives me faith that your next creation will be a masterpeice! For the banner in general, I'm going to give it a 7.6/10. But I'm also going to rate this banner 6.9/10, in comparison to your past artwork.

@ Gummy: I like it, Gummy! I've always been a fan of vertical canvases, but this is probably (from what I've seen) your best work yet! I like the tribal/floral designs on her hip and, um...gun? (Not exactly sure what it is she's holding). Good use of scanlines, nice vectors in the background, excellent lighting...all attributes of a quality signature! The only thing I would change would be the placement/size of the text; I'd make it a little bit smaller and move it up to about her forehead. Apart from everything else, there's also a part of this signature that feels unique. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it's almost as if you've created a new style. I'm going to rate this banner a 9.5/10. Good job, and keep it up!

@ YunaDances: Think this is the first sig I've ever seen from you. I like the placement of the render, but I don't like the splatters in the background. Actually, I don't like the background in general. The lighting on the render doesn't match with the background. Also, I can't really find a focal point in this banner. If you ever redo this banner, try a less "vector" approach. I think it has some potential. I'll rate this a 5.1/10.

@ CheesePeow: This is good. You really captured a sort of "feel" with it. My eyes knew exactly where to go, which means it has an amazing focal point. After that, I focused directly on the text. Nice font choice. I really like how it makes me feel like it's snowing, or just really cold outside. The render doesn't really blend into the background in this case, but I think that's for the better; it's not a grunge-type signature. Try putting a darker color border around it (such as a darker blue or black), just to see what it looks like. I could be totally wrong, and maybe it won't look good at all. Just an idea, though. Anyways, extremely nice sig here; 9.0/10.

@ Animadversion: *reads post* Aw! Nothing from the creator of my sig? *cries* Oh well, I'll just have to rate my sig, seeing as I never got to rate it before. :>

(In case I've changed my signature, THIS IS A LINK to the one I was using at the time of this post).

Well, like I told you in your shop, I love it! I asked for something simple, and that's exactly what you gave me. (In looks; not saying it was simple to make at all :3). I really like the size/placement of the render, and how it blends in certain places with the background. The lighting effect is also really cool. And, last but not least, I love the text placement. You fit it in perfectly! I'm going to rate this banner a 8.7/10. By the way, thanks again XD.

@ Perfectionist; I already rated this one, but dang right I'm gonna rate it again! (are we allowed to say "d*mn"?): Like I stated previously, it's good for your first smudge type. But you've definately got room to improve. The colors of the render and the background don't match, and the render seems to stick out a bit much. Try darkening the image, darkening the render a little more, adding some contrast to the render, adding some faint scanlines and inserting some brushes into the background and on top of the render. This might make it look a little bit better. But it's good for your first try, so I'm going to rate it a 5.8/10, (which is good for your first attempt). Keep it up, though. Animad and Loki (or should I say, "Lokiey") didn't get as good as they are overnight (or maybe they did?). Either way, it takes practise.

@ Motsuko Live: ...*pause* Wait...that's me! O:

(HA HA HA, I'M SO GOSH DARN HALARIOUS! HA HA HA! "BOOM!" *get's shot in head* *dies instantly*)

@ Shiranui: WHATWHATWHAT?! Another "banner-less" rater? That's fine...I'll just rate your current sig;
This has got to be one of the best banners I've seen. Why? Well, because it has a theme. I like how you made it really dark. The lighting bolt effects are awesome, too. Is that smudging I see? Good job. The lighting behind the render really gives a feel to the viewer also. Not much I can see needs improvement in this banner. Have you thought about adding text? Just an idea. My rating? 9.0/10. Could easily be bumped to 9.4/9.5 by filling in that empty space to the right with (text?).

@ Perfectionist: I don't see much difference in this than the first version, except for the dotted border. I'd say the same changes in my previous rating still apply to this, but like DC said, lose the dotted border. Kind of takes away the feel.

@ DarkChild: I like this alot. I think it's the first time I've ever seen a feathered egde. (not sure if "feathered" is
the right term). I agree with everything £äT¡ø§™ said, but also think you should use an anti-alias on the text. It looks a little bit rough, to me. Other than that, I've got nothing left to say! It is a very nice banner, DC. 8.9/10. (sorry about the short post :3)

@ £äT¡ø§™:

*checks sig for latest*

Please rate?

Not exactly sure what you meant by this, but if you meant rate your current sig then that's what I'll do. ^^;
It's very interesting. I like the choice of colors, and how they blend together. Not one of my favorites, but still nice. It seems a little bit empty on both sides. Maybe some text would look nice? But it's your choice. Also, the white border is really hard to see. You should try a darker colored one. Good job, though! 8.0/10.

@ Poke'd: I think £äT¡ø§™ meant for us to rate his signature. But whatever.

Vegeta Banner: This is alright. I really like how you blended the render into the background, but I don't like the rest. Also, the text takes away from the focal point. It sticks out a bit to much; too large, maybe? I'm going
to rate this banner 5.8/10.

Bug's Life Banner: Meh, Don't like this one...at all. (Sorry, that was harsh). it just doesn't seem like alot of work went into it. Almost cheap. I can count the number of vector brushes you used, which is rarely ever a good thing. I'm not expert on vector sigs myself, but try adding more brushes. Look at examples by Akari, Animadversion and Loki. They seem to know what they're doing when it comes to vector styles. Sorry about this, but I'm going to rate this 2/10. But keep at it. You'll get better :3

Ichigo Banner: Now that's more like it XD; I like this banner a lot. The render blends in perfectly with the background. The focal point is obvious, too. The text sticks out a bit, though. Try to avoid solid white and pitch black, seeing as those are the colors that seem to stand out more. By the way, nice background! I really like that style! =] My rating for this one? 8.4/10.

*gasp* Ok, ^^; I'm done now.

Anyways nobody's above me so I guess I'll post something:
(image no longer exists)
I haven't gotten anyone to rate this one. They are bringing sexy back >D

Well, I've got nothing better to do... =|
I guess I'll rate another banner!

@ "Prof." Hazuki: I love your style! Love it, love it, LOVE it! It's original. Not many people make banners like this (atleast, not that I've seen). We're all caught up in this vector, grungy stuff nowadays. Don't get me wrong; I'm a huge fan of vector and grunge, but it's nice to see things like this every now and then. Hopefully, a little bit of your style will rub off on us in your class, Hazuki. Anyways, on to the constructive citisism:

Like I said before, I love it. That texture in the background is amazing, Hazuki. The lighting effects are magnificent, but in some places it seems as if there's a random "blob" of light. The colors in the sky really help bring out the renders. The one and only thing I would definitely change would be that text box. I'd make it a bit wider, and decrease the text size a little it. But other than that little thing, it's a-m-a-z-i-n-g. I'm in love with your style, Hazuki XD; 9.8/10. (Would have been 10, except for the text and that lighting blob. Don't feel bad, though; I've never given out a 10 =P)

Keep up the great work! And don't ever forgot how to make these...or suffer my wrath. *evil laugh*

... jkbutSeriously, keep it up.

it was a request.

Hey, guess who! Yup, still loitering around the GRT.

Ya know you're cool when...

@ evilcheese: Nicely done! I like the choice of style for this banner. It has a grungy feel to it, yet not quite dark enough to be perfectly grunge (which is a good thing in this case). The render fits/blends in well. The text is a little small, though. But it still seems to go well with the rest. The background is a little...plain. Maybe some more C4Ds? I don't like that faded thing in the background. What is that anyway? And my last point; I really like that light over his head. Good job with that.

I'm going to rate this banner a 7/10.

Motsuko

evilhamtoastcheese: It looks like there's a faded Rayquaza in the right background. I like the style, the text needs some work. ;-;

Woot! Rate.
Clade.: i like it, simple, clean(simple and clean is the way that your making me feel,lol)nice colours, and good size.

My rates probably won't count much, I don't know the names of all the fancy effects. xD

@clade.
Whoa, it's so pretty looking. ^_^ It just looks a bit too empty to the left. But the colours and effects are all really nice and has a pleasant feel to it.

@Poke'd: I like the background effects, but Dragonair is cut out a bit to the side. D: The text isn't really that distinguishable, maybe try a different colour? O_o

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Um, rate please. I'm not much of a Photoshop user and this amazingly took me about 6 hours yesterday. x_x
Probably one of my bettter banners.

[PokeCommunity.com] The Graphics Rating Thread [READ THE FIRST POST. D:<]

@ Clade: This is good, but I don't think it's complete yet. There's so much more you could add. (especially on the left side). But I do really like it. The colors are very appealing ;). I just keep feeling like there's something...missing from this sig. I can't quite figure it out though...

Anyways, really nice =] It almost looks like a scene from a show or something. I like the render, too ^^

7.9/10.

Motsuko

Ooops...missed a few of ya. I'll rate you guys now:

@ Poke'd: It's...alright. I see you've used the same style as your Ichiga banner. I like it, but seeing the same style used twice in a row is a little repetative. But it's still good. The text is really hard to see, though. Also, it's placing and size isn't very good. Try decreasing the size and placing it more in the middle (verticaly speaking) ^^
Other than that, it's not a bad banner! 6.5/10.

@ Kagami: Never say your rates wont count, Kagami! You don't need an extensive knowledge of Photoshop/Gimp to rate a banner(s); you just need eyes, and a good sense of artistic design...

Which, judging by your sig, you definitaley have ^^;
I like it =] The background reminds me of clouds. That little "line thing" you did is fantastic! The only thing you should really change is the bevel/emboss on the Haruhi render. It looks a little strange with it. If you're looking on how to give it more depth, PM me. I can show you some great, in depth tutorials on depth (no pun intended T_T) ;)

Anyways, great work, Kagami. 8.3/10.

P.S, isn't that characters name "Haruhi Suzumiya", not "Suzumiya Haruhi"? Unless you meant it like "Suzumiya, Haruhi", which would be awkward to use in a sig. ;)

Yosh! Zelda banner! This is about as good as a Zelda banner from me will get. xDD I had a lot of PS crashing issues when I was making this banner, but I don't think any of it directly affected the outcome, so yeah. xD;
