Chapter 3.1- Akito Sasaki

Akito's Team
Spoiler:

"Ares, Comet punch." shouted Bruce with authority. The small panda pokemon smiled deviously as it enveloped it's fists with a white light and ran at Vulcan. Numels are not exactly known for being fast and Vulcan took a sound thrashing from the cool panda pokemon. Vulcan was pushed back while the panda pokemon stood calmly in one corner.

Akito looked around him. There was grass but it wouldn't be helpful in a pokemon battle. Akito then told Vulcan to use Ember on Ares' feet. Ares jumped off easily when the camel pokemon used Ember. Ares then jumped up and gave a nice Karate Chop on Vulcan's head. The camel pokemon then responded by covering it's body with flames while the Pancham's body was still in contact with Vulcan's body. The Pancham winced in pain as it moved back a bit more cautiously.

"Vulcan you learned Flame Charge. Congratulations man." Akito said aloud to the Numel. The Numel looked adoringly at Akito's eyes before glancing away. Akito understood what the Numel felt. Now they understood each other. It had taken only a day for pokemon and trainer to bond together, "Okay, Vulcan use Flame Charge." Akito said clearly with no hint of mastery whatsoever as the Numel covered it's body with flames and charged at a high speed at Ares.

"Spoil the party with Grass Knot." Came the cool order from Akito's opponent. The Pancham used it's telepathic powers or whatever and the grass in front of Vulcan bended into a large knot and Vulcan of course tripped and due to it's high speed went flying over the Pancham's head who gave him a slight smash in the belly which brought Vulcan down. The Numel had obviously fainted, so Akito returned Vulcan back to his Pokeball. That was stupid. At the moment, trainer and pokemon were one the pokemon got thrashed badly.

"You're getting beaten again right Aki dude?" Bruce said with a crazy grin.

"No and is this a two on two match?" Akito asked with a voice of steel.

"Erm. Yeah." came the reply.

"Then it's all up to you, old guy." Akito muttered slowly under his breath as he pressed the button on Hercules' pokeball.

Dava Lalonde 3.1

Team
Spoiler:

It was getting late, and Dava's feet hurt. She had come down from the mountain only to realize that the Cable Car was working again. Her adventure down the mountain had been in vain. Grunting, she entered the building where the Cable Car arrived to freshen up a bit and buy something to drink for her and her pokémon. She was unsure of what to give the newly caught Magby though. Wasn't it made of lava or something? What could it possibly want to drink?

As she went outside, sat down on a bench and let all her pokémon out of their pokéballs, she couldn't help sighing at the sight of them. They were all tired and not a little battered. Duke was still struggling with his burns from the fight with Flannery, Prince tried to not admit it, but he had gotten quite a beating from the Magby. The Magby who was now sitting a little ways away from the others, sipping silently on her juice. As she held it in her paws, the paper on the little juicebox began charring a little. Was her skin this hot all the time or only when she was upset? Because she was clearly not happy with this arrangement. Being a trainer's pokémon. She just seemed to know she was to weak to do anything about it now. Plus, her trainer gave her juice. Why not accept it.

Leaning back on the bench, Dava stared up into the sky. Was this how she had imagined her adventure to be? Maybe it was. She had already met other trainers, lost them in a sandstorm and wild pokémon attack, battled a member of the E4 and captured two new pokémon. All within her first few days of being a proper trainer. Maybe this was how it would always be from now on. Getting dirty, getting hurt. Getting lost. She couldn't help thinking about Dani, and wondered how she fared.

Dani wouldn't have any problem trekking down the mountainside, for sure. But she would probably have arrived at the Cable Car before it broke down. She was probably tucking into a nice bed in Mauville City by now, after having carefully brushed Princess' fur and now they would both dream of the contest they would probably enter tomorrow... Oh, Princess. Dava felt a little sting as she realized that she was missing her dear pokémon quite a bit. How could she have been talked into handing her over to her careless sister? And received Prince in return. The selfish rascal. She was happy she had Duke, he seemed like a gentleman. And this new Magby... Who was she, really?

Dava glanced at her newest capture for several minutes, until the pokémon decided that it was enough. It suddenly threw the juice box away, stood up and began spouting noises towards Dava. She didn't understand any of it, and jumped back on the bench from shock. Duke and Prince seemed to understand though.

"Hey," said Prince, in the universally translated language of energy, thoughts and noises which only pokémon can understand, as he walked up to her. "Cool it, or I'll zap you."

"Zap me? ZAP me?" Magby shouted back at him, almost spitting out a little flame in his face since they were standing so close. "She captured me! I was happy as I was! I don't need any trainer, I don't want to be someone's slave."

"Truthfully, that girl's my slave," Prince said with a crooked smile, not getting intimidated. "She thinks she has some say in things, but really. Nah."

Magby shook her head. "You're dumb. You've probably grown up in captivity, haven't you? You don't even know what it's like to be free."

"Say that again if you dare, dumbhead!" Prince growled and let electricity sparkle between his horns.

"Bring it!" Magby roared back and you could feel the head begin to radiate from her again.

"Guys, what are you doing? No!" Dava said helplessly, holding out her hands but not daring to get in between the powerful little creatures. What should she do? Her team was fighting. Oh, this would surely never happen with cool or beautiful contest pokémon...

Suddenly, Duke was in between the other two, one rocky hand on each of their chests, and pushed them apart. "You only want what you don't have, don't you?" he said with a deep, slow voice, before floating peacefully up to Dava and taking her hand in his.

The trainer's eyes blinked repeatedly, widening. She really didn't understand this rock pokémon, but she was appreciating him more and more. Trying not to squeal from admiration of the round gentleman, she squeezed his large hand back.

Prince and Magby gave them the stare for a few moments, trying to come up with something to say. Then Prince sighed. "Whatever," he said and waved a hand towards the fire type before getting back into a sitting position to finish the can of soda he had been given.

Magby crossed her little arms with an unhappy face, but her insides felt differently. Warm, of course, but also somewhat... jealous? Dava patted Geodude on his head before taking forth a package of pokémon food she had brought. Magby watched them, standing at a distance for a while. Her stomach started to rumble at the sight of food. Food she didn't have to look hard for. Food she could get if she admitted defeat and obeyed her new mistress.

She'd have to deal with the question of obedience later. For now, her biology needed to be satisfied. Slowly, she walked up to the girl on the bench, trying not to look as if she had really given up, and looked up at the trainer. Their eyes met.

"Want some, then?" Dava finally asked, a little glint of triumph in her eyes as she reached towards the Magby, food in her hand.

Magby let it slide and simply took the food without a comment.

"Good," Dava said, smart enough to not add onto it unnecessarily. Though, she couldn't help but adding: "I think I'll call you... Maiden."

Hark Rense - Chapter 3 Part 0.5 Water and Teasing
Team
Spoiler:

Gadgets
Spoiler:

Hark wandered around the base of the mountain for about 10 minutes trying to find the main trail, but he ended up finding a fresh water spring instead. He stared at the small bubbling spring wondering if it was worth the risk to drink the water. As he considered his options Nara ran up from behind him and dove into the water where she started to drink as much as she could with both mouths. Lannia protested and pointed to the water. "I guess dehydration is a bigger threat right now," said Hark setting down Lannia close by the spring but not close enough for her to drink from it. This caused Lannia to protest loudly. "Patience I'm getting you some," said Hark as he fetched all his empty water bottles and began to fill them.

The first bottle Hark filled, he gave to Lannia, who started to drink it the second she had her tiny hands on it. Hark then drank most of the second bottle after one last hesitation. Nara was done drinking by this point and noticed Lannia drinking out of the bottle. Nara smirked as an idea formed and she quickly said to the Ralts, "Lannia has our Master drunk from that bottle before?"

Lannia stopped drinking the bottle and looked Nara with a questioning look, "Probability why?"

Nara's face twisted into an evil grin and she said, "You like it?"

"Like what?" asked Lannia feeling unsure where Nara was going with this.

"Drinking after the master?" asked the Mawile as both of her mouths grinned.

"I like drinking water… and it's nicer to drink from a bottle than sticking my face in the river," replied Lannia completely unaware where Nara was going with this.

"You realize drinking after someone is almost like kissing them… at least that is what I heard from some humans once. Looks like you're enjoying almost kissing our master," replied Nara who couldn't contain herself and burst out laughing when Lannia's face turned red and her eyes melted into ones of pure horror. Lannia dropped the water bottle, which made Hark jump when it splashed water all over him.

"Lannia! Could you set the bottle down instead of spilling it all over me?" said Hark as he grabbed the bottle shaking his head. He then inspected his wet shirt and pants with a disapproving look, before resuming the bottle refilling.

"Maybe our master likes that idea too… bet you drank out of the bottle he used too. Also he handed you the bottle didn't he instead of letting you drink directly from the stream," said Nara trying to milk this for all its worth.
"Shut up!" exclaimed Lannia as she tried to think of what to do or say.

"He has been carrying you around all tenderly, and protecting you. Maybe you're his little damsel in distress," continued the teasing Mawile trying to see how far she could push the Ralts. Nara was also laughing a good bit by this point and was almost falling over from all the laughter.

"He would never do that… I would never want to kiss HIM. That is gross! My "knight in shining armor" is going to be a handsome Gallade one day!" exclaimed Lannia in response as she glared at the Mawile. Good thing she was weakened, or she would have throw Nara into some rocks with her Psychic abilities.

"Ooooo we are the romantic type are we?" asked the Mawile with a grin. "So is your knight in shining armor going to swoop in and rescue you from our Master's evil grip, likely killing him in the process? Then take you off to live happily ever after?"

"No! He will just sweep me off my feet and be there for me forever… Hark isn't evil… strange, and well a bit bizarre for a human, but not evil. Anyway one minute you're talking like he is my future mate, and now my future mate has to kill him so we can be together… you're being really mean right now," said Lannia with a large amount of frustration in her voice as she couldn't think of anything better to say.

Nara's teasing voice went away and she became dead serious as she replied in a serious tone, "I was just teasing you… however you do realize Hark is our master, he determines our lives now. There will be no happy ever after with a special someone unless while he is around. As long as he is alive he controls us, he tells us who we are with, he decides if we get to have a mate, and he decides how our "ever after" will be. We are slaves, not servants… we have no say in our future, only he does."

Lannia had no real response to this as she just sat there being forced to face the truth behind Nara's words. Looking over at Hark she closed her eyes and used all her energy to try in touch his mind… and she did! Just a little, but she did. To Hark it felt like nothing more than a tiny pin poke in his head which make him look around for a second before finishing the filling of the last bottle. Looking down at Nara Lannia said, "That doesn't have to be true… I'm going to learn to communicate with Hark and when I do I will make him see us in a different light. We will no longer be slaves, we will be friends."

Nara rolled her eyes and shook her head as she climbed out of the small pool of water. She desperately hoped Lannia's claim would come true, but in her mind she was a realist and knew that would never come to past.

Aya Ingvar - Chapter Three - Part 1

Aya's Team
Spoiler:

Aya awoke in the morning to a loud screeching noise and the sight of a Tailow hurtling off in the opposite direction. It appeared that it had gotten into a bit of a fight with Ladon and Grizzly – who were outside their pokeballs on account of Aya falling asleep – and evidently it hadn't won.
"Well it's not exactly the wake-up call I was expecting" Aya groaned pushing herself up "at least try to be friendly?" Her pokemon merely looked up at Aya as though confused as to why they were being scolded by the sleepy trainer.

Aya pushed herself off of the sleeping bag, she had fallen asleep on it immediately after dinner without even managing to climb inside. Suffice to say her challenging trek down mount chimney culminating in a disastrous loss to Flannery and an ambush by a gigantic horde of mawile had been exhausting for the girl. But she wasn't about to let a rough start slow her journey down, after all it wasn't exactly a secret that Lavaridge trainers had a somewhat rougher start to their journey. Soon after getting up Aya had cleaned up and switched to a slightly less totally destroyed set of clothes, returned her companions back to the confines of their pokeballs and set off across the short Route 112.

She observed that the rocky offshoots around Mt. Chimney were gradually fading away, and whilst she could identify where Lavaridge Town sat she couldn't make anything of it out and the cliff it sat on was moving further and further in the distance.
I should probably call home and let Grandma and Gramps know that I'm doing okay. I should probably get in touch with my parents in Unova too at some point, although Grandma will be sure to let them know what's going on anyway

Aya continued her walk at a fairly brisk pace, she didn't want to spend too long under the shadow of Mt. Chimney and wanted to get to Mauville as soon as she could, after all who knows how long she could be stuck there waiting for a gym battle.
I wonder if I'll get a shot at catching a ground-type before reaching Mauville. From what my grandparents said before I left it isn't legal to make captures within the confines of the city any more on account of the disturbances it can cause but the Mauville Gym specialises in electric types. I guess if the worst comes to the worst Ladon resists them anyway but it certainly something to think about…

Aya's musings were cut short as a flock of Starly flew past her
"Clearly they're used to people" she laughed to herself, having very nearly been bowled over by the birds. But it was at this time her eyes opened wide. She was standing at a T-junction on the route. To her left (the north) a vast expanse of hot yellow sand was visible, but it was the simple path south that she would be taking at this point – towards Mauville city. Towards the city that she would soon see a shadow of on the horizon.
I'll be there by the end of the day I think, maybe early tomorrow. I can't help but feel somewhat excited Somewhat excited meaning she was already starting to feel her body buzz with the excitement of competition.

Carl Bizarro
Chapter 2.6
Catch and Evolve!

Carl's Team
Spoiler:

The hoped for click echoed through the small cave. Carl sighed in relief, and congratulated Sting on a job well done. Sting rejoiced, and, suddenly, he began to shake. He began to spit out silk, and covered himself with it. Carl watched in confusion, wondering what was going on with his first Pokémon. Once Sting was a ball of silky whiteness, he began to glow! Carl gasped. Could it be... Is Sting... finally... evolving? he thought. The nerdy boy watched as the orb of light began to change its shape and take the form of a cocoon-like thing. When the lights faded, Carl was once again unable to see the new form of sting, be he was certain of something. Sting was no longer a Weedle. He was now a Kakuna! Which means it will evolve into Beedrill next! And Beedrills are very fierce and powerful Bug Pokémon!

His attention then focused on the Pokéball that was lying next to Kakuna. Carl rolled over and slowly made his way towards it. Every little inch he got closer brought him a whole truckload of pain. He weakly reached out for the ball and managed to grab it. When he did, he let out a small chuckle before the immense pain he was in forced his eyes to close and his mind to drift away.

----

Felicity hastily but carefully made her way down Mt. Chimney, looking for any trace of her partner and longtime friend, who had tripped over, fallen, and seemingly vanished into thin air. "Carl! Carl, where are you!" she shouted, "Say something! Please!" Tears began to form in her eyes as she feared for the worst. He has to be around here somewhere... He can't just go away... like this... she thought, And it's all my fault... One of the tears jumped out of the corner of her eye and made its way down her cheek. She continued to look around her surroundings, when she spotted something... unusual. A small trail that led to a cave was noticeable among the soot in the mountain ground, and Felicity was smart enough to figure that something was dragged all the way into that cave. Something... or perhaps... someone! Her heart pounded faster as she got inside the small cavern. The entrance was small, but nevertheless she managed to squeeze through. Once inside, she could see almost nothing. It was practically pitch-black darkness! She sent out a Duosion and commanded a Flash. The whole cave was then lit by a greenish light coming from the Pokémon's body.

"Carl! Are you there!" she shouted, and spotted someone lying on the ground with no sign of consciousness, "Carl!"

She rushed over to him. She was more than glad to see that her best friend was still alive, although very badly bruised and hurt. She had to get him out of there and heal him. With no hesitation she sent out her Poliwhirl and told it to pick up her unconscious partner. While looking at Carl she saw that he was holding a Pokéball with a Sableye inside of it. Well, I'm glad at least you got to catch a Pokémon... she said, another tear rolling down her cheek. Then she saw that a Kakuna was nearby. "Sting... is that you?" she asked, and the Kakuna moved as if he nodded. Wow... he caught a Pokémon and evolved another one... Way to go, Carl!

"Wow... I can hardly believe it!" she said with a smile, "I bet you'll be a strong Beedrill someday soon! Now, let's get going!"

The bug cried in agreement and bounced his way over to Felicity. The girl picked him up and they all began to walk towards the cave's exit. You'll be okay, Carl... Everything will be alright...

Aya Ingvar - Chapter Three - Part 2

Aya's Team
Spoiler:

Aya continued her walk towards the south, and Mauville City home of the first gym she would challenge on her journey. The weather was pleasantly warm, something Aya figured had to do with the already tropical climate and the hot wind that was blowing off of the desert to the north. But yet her body was racked with shivers – not of cold but of excitement. She had managed to work herself into a frenzy of anticipation on the walk having spent the whole time she had been on Route 111 so far fantasizing about her upcoming battle with Wattson and plotting out various strategies she could use against the electric typed expert.
I definitely need to use Ladon in this battle, I mean he resists electrical attacks so it makes perfect sense for me to use him. But ideally I should catch a grass or ground-typed pokemon on this route since grass types are also resistant to electric attacks, whilst ground types are completely immune. Not that I don't have complete faith in Grizzly of course – I just can't help but think about things like this. I wonder, do you even catch ground types on this route? I've never been here before so I wouldn't have the slightest clue…

Aya continued to walk towards her destination, completely oblivious to her surrounds as she was lost in thought – contemplating the various strategies she could use in her battle and what useful pokemon she could capture along the route. Which would probably explain how she tripped over the guy sleeping against the rocks his hat pulled low over his eyes.

Stumbling, but thankfully not falling Aya turned to looked at the boy who had jumped up screaming at the top of his lungs and flailing about like he was using Splash.
"Uh… sorry about that" Aya offered, grinning sheepishly and running her hand over her hair "I was kind of lost in thought and…"
"Since when is that an excuse for nearly crushing someone half to death" he groaned at her, readjusting his hat. He was a fair bit taller than Aya, thin with a light tan and long jet-black hair the same colour as his eyes. He'd have been only a few years older than her at most she guessed. The boy sighed
"So, who might you be murderess?" he asked her, still apparently slightly snarky over being trodden on
"It was an accident… so it would only have been manslaughter if you died. Anyway, I'm Aya – nice to meet you even in somewhat unfortunate circumstances"
"Dave" the boy, who clearly didn't like to be woken up offered before adding "Nice to meet you too I guess… I'll tell you what, if you can beat me in a battle I'll forgive you." Aya was somewhat shocked by the sudden challenge, but her competitive side wouldn't let her turn down a battle from anyone.

Within a minute they were standing a decent space apart from one another
"Let's make this one on one" Dave said, clearly not caring to hear any other ideas "let's see what you've got." Aya contemplated her choices before reaching into her bag and selecting a pokeball.
"Grizzly, you're on" Aya called, as the Teddiursa appeared in a flash of white light.
"Teddi!" the bear-like pokemon exclaimed, brandishing her claws and teeth briefly – making it clear she wasn't to be trifled with. Dave laughed
"That's cute" he said, and clearly the words were not a compliment "Sandlash, let's show them what real claws look like!" In a similar white flash a yellow pholidotal pokemon with long claws and menacing brown spines covering its back appeared before Grizzly, practically dismissing her with its nonchalant gaze.
Aya looked at the pokemon, disliking its attitude but still impressed as it was obviously powerful and confident in its power.
"Amazing" Aya said, unable to help herself, much to Grizzly's annoyance. Dave grinned rather unpleasantly, his chest puffing up with his arrogance
"yeah, I was looking for a Sandshrew to challenge Wattsons gym with because I heard you can find them along here, and I chased a couple along the route but ended up running into this guy instead. He's way more powerful than his pre-evolved form so I caught him with my Pancham."
"Impressive" Aya responded, not letting the arrogance of her opponent get to her "but nothing Grizzly can't handle"
"We'll see" Dave replied, his voice taunting "Sandslash, use Stone Edge!" the spiny pokemon obeyed in an instant, conjuring up several jagged-edged stones and sending them flying at Grizzly, surprising both Grizzly and Aya alike with the sudden attack.

Hark Rense - Chapter 3 Part 1 A Change of Plans
Team
Spoiler:

Gadgets
Spoiler:

After refilling all the water bottle Hark picked up Lannia who suddenly seemed like she wasn't very pleased with him carrying her. She refused to go in her Pokeball, and she was still too weak on her own, despite her trying to act like she could, so Hark carried her anyway. As they walked around the volcano's base Lannia and Nara were constantly chatting and much of it seemed like argument. Hark didn't care to know what they were arguing about, but had he known what they were discussing, he might have been a little less dismissive of all the noise.

By the time they found the main path that would take them to Mauville the sun was setting. Deciding to actually sleep tonight, Hark decided to find a place to rest. He searched around the woods until he found a suitable tree where he started to unpacked. Pulling out a heavy weight black poncho and some some 5-50 cord he had bought for the journey, Hark attempted to assemble a "survivor's" tent that he had read about online. However his "tent" ended up just being a poncho tied between two trees. Exhausted and frustrated Hark threw up his arms and crawled into his "cover" to get some rest. Using his pack as a pillow he fell asleep without considering his Pokemon's comfort. Lannia opted to sleep under the poorly erected cover as well and used part of the pack as a pillow as well, but kept her distance from Hark so Nara wouldn't tease her anymore. Nara initially tried to sleep outside, but fear caused by the calls of nocturnal Pokemon and the rustling of leaves from a slight breeze drove her into the "tent" where she slept at her master's feet.

Around two in the Morning Hark was woken up by close by footsteps. Sitting up half asleep Hark saw the form of a human in front of him. "****, he is up!" was the last thing Hark heard before something blunt smashed him on the back of the head knocking him out.

When Hark came to, he had a massive headache but that was the least of his concerns. He quickly realized he had been tied up and relocated. He could hear voices close by but couldn't make out what they were saying. His mind was still in shock from the trauma and his consciousness didn't last long and he faded to darkness once again. A few minutes later his mind had recovered and he came to again and could actually make out what people were saying.

"I still say we leave him here once Tim gets back," said one voice which seemed a little nervous.

"Ransoming him would make us more money than selling a hundred stolen Pokemon," said a more confident voice.

"It's too risky! We should have never brought him here in the first place… just steal his Pokemon and disappear like we always do," said the other voice.

"Except that one cutie… remember her?" said the other man with a pleased voice. The conversation then turned to discussing this previous victim that the one man had apparently raped. While the first person seemed slightly regretful for their actions and tried to change the subject several times the second man had no such shame and continued his describing of memories.

Hark quietly deployed his hidden blade that sliced the rope enough freeing him. He was careful to not make noise as he freed himself, but this meant listening to these men talk about their past crimes and future plans. By the time Hark was standing something had snapped in his mind. These men had almost killed him, stolen his pokemon, and their friend was selling Nara and Lannia to some random strangers. This pissed Hark off, but it was the discussion about the one female victim in detail that suddenly hardened his heart and drove his mind to seeing these men in a different light.

These were no longer humans in Hark's mind, they were a tumor that needed to be removed for the betterment of humanity. With purpose Hark marched in on the unsuspecting men. Like a surgeon removing a harmful tumor, Hark struck with precision and speed. The first man only had time to realize that Hark had escaped when his life was ended by cold metal through the heart. The second man was in shock when Hark turned his cold glance on him. This one tried to fight, and he grabbed the bat like object that had been used on Hark once before. Hark defected the blow and cut the man's throat with one swift slash.

Looking over the destruction he had caused Hark's adrenaline slowed and the reality of what he had done started to sink in. However he didn't have time to consider what he had done as the third man, Tim, had returned. Tim walked in the cave and his face instantly went pale as he saw the lifeless corpses of his friends. Before he fully realized what had happened Hark had Tim's throat in his metal hand.
"Where are my Pokemon?" demanded Hark.

"I sold them… please don't kill me," begged Tim with wide eyes.

"To who?" continued Hark his cold gaze returning.

"To some trainers… two different ones, looked rather young…," responded Tim.

"Details if you want to live," replied Hark.

Tim then described to the two buyers he had sold Hark's pokemon to, and once Hark had the details he needed released the man's throat only to stab him through the chest. Tim's eyes got huge and he muttered, "Why? I told you what you wanted," gasped the dying man as he sunk to the ground.

"Doing humanity a favor," replied Hark in a cold heartless voice as Tim let out his last breath. Once the last man was dead Hark went to work. He took one of the men's blade and re cut the wounds to make it look like the knife did it and then placed the weapon in Tim's chest while repositioning his arms to make it look like he had taken his own life. Hark then changed his clothes (destroying the ones with blood in the camp fire) and retrieved his items before exiting the cave that was their camp. Discovering that the entrance of the cave was unsteady Hark was able to make the entrance collapse before he left to find Lannia and Nara.

Hark's mind was in chaos, he had just killed three men and his Pokemon had been stolen and sold to strangers. In one night his life had shifted beyond his carefully devised plans and into chaos. Never before had he considered how he would feel if he killed someone, and he honestly didn't feel any regret for ending the lives of these men. In fact his only thought on the matter was to insure if the bodies were found that he would not catch any of the blame. At the same time he was worrying about Lannia and to a lesser extent Nara. Somehow he had allowed himself to care for his Pokemon emotionally. Likely thanks to that Sindri. If only he could have just treated his pokemon well without getting emotionally attached to them, well it was too late for that now.

Chapter 3.1- Akito Sasaki

Akito's Team
Spoiler:

Throwing pokeballs was pretty darn hard. All those ads which depict handsome models throwing pokeballs at small fleeing Mudkips are fakes. Throwing a pokeball requires at least a full day of practice and even then you won't be so 100% accurate. That was primarily the reason why Akito never threw a pokeball but just pressed the button on it to release the pokemon he wanted to send. I mean how many people have enough time to practice pokeball – throwing. And in Akito's point of view, he couldn't abandon his lovely video games for a day just because he wanted to learn how to throw.

Ares swung his arms around, moving front and back with slow, light jumps glaring at the Big Beetle pokemon in front of him. Hercules had been observing how Ares thrashed Vulcan, from inside his pokeball. This wasn't going to be easy but Hercules was confident.

Strategy was what he needed. Hercules had observed how Ares had taunted Vulcan and then tricked him by using Grass Knot. He better not fall into that trap like Vulcan. After contemplating what he had to do and staring into his opponent's eyes for a while, Hercules came upon the perfect plan. Roaring aloud, he told the Pancham to give him all he had.

The Pancham broke into the grin that was a trademark of its species and charged at Hercules with it's arm glowing white. The Pancham ran very fast and even Hercules didn't have enough time to block it's blow. Hercules was sent flying backward and fell on the ground with a cloud of dust gathering around him.

Hercules sputtered and choked as the dust came into his eyes and nose. It was dusty to say the least. As the dust gradually got carried away by the strong beams of light that came on the battlefield, Hercules saw the Pancham grin as he stood above him.

"Ha, you're trainer is a sore loser and so are you." he laughed while saying these words. Ares' voice was actually a bit like a six year old kid's. Looking closely at the young pokemon, Hercules spoke, "How old are you?"

The already white face went even paler as the Pancham looked at Hercules. "How did you know." He then started looking even more depressed. "I'm only 2 years old. Everybody used to make fun of me in my herd. When Bruce caught me I thought I was free from all that age discrimination and then you had to come along."

"Kid, help me up and I'll give you a few tips." Hercules said. Ares thought about it for a second and then hoisted Hercules up.

Hercules dusted himself and said, "Thanks kid. Now my first tip is 'Never trust you opponent when they offer to help you right in the middle of a pokemon battle." With a roar Hercules smashed headfirst into Ares with a Tackle managed to send him flying back a few meters.

Ares staggered up and heard Bruce shouting, "Get up you fool." Feeling a sudden surge of energy Ares roared and found himself enveloped with white light. His arms grew bigger and then he looked at himself. He was now a Pangoro!

Hercules grimaced. It would be a lot more difficult to fight Ares as a Pangoro. He began thinking of some ideas. Pangoro was big but slower than a normal Pancham.

Ares broke into a grin and then set his right hand on fire. Hercules knew what the Pangoro was going to do. 'Oh crap. That's Fire Punch.' he thought.

It was too late. Hercules had no time for trying to Protect himself. He raised his left arm above his head which was the place that Ares would most probably attack. He winced as he felt the flames licking his dry arms. With a roar Ares then took Hercules and by spinning around smashed Hercules a nearby tree.

Hercules gritted his teeth as his face smashed against the bark of the tree. It felt warm and dry against his face and after what seemed like an hour but was actually a few seconds, Hercules was free from the torture and was thrown down on the floor like some piece of garbage.

Ares towered over the semi-conscious Hercules. Hercules knew what was happening and quickly opened one eye and smashed an extremely hard seed into Ares' face. Ares staggered back and Hercules leaped up taking hold of Ares' left hand and pinning it onto the ground. Ares roared in pain and tried to break free but Hercules wouldn't let go.

With a final cry of anguish, the Pangoro let go and fainted lying still on the ground. Akito was shocked at the brutal display of power displayed by his Heracross. In barely a minute, Hercules had made Ares evolve and then broken his arm.

Dava Lalonde 3.2

Team
Spoiler:

"He sure is patient," Dava commented.

Prince grunted in affirmative response.

They were lodged behind a cliff, Route 111 opening up in front of it. Right next to the road, a guy had been trying to train his pokémon relentlessly for the last hour. Dava and her pokémon had at first just stopped and noticed him, then realized how weird it was, and then perched themselves on the cliff to watch him fool around while they shared a snack together.

"Come on, Marill," the boy panted. "Just one more time - Acrobatics!"

The bubbly Marill in front of him giggled and made a pretty high leap into the air, only to tumble around and bounce back onto the ground aimlessly. Still giggling.

"You don't take anything seriously," the boy sighed. But then he laughed and picked up the pokémon to pet it. "Silly you."

Dava raised her eyebrows. "He's not giving up? That pokémon clearly isn't worth the trouble. What is wrong with him?"

Again, Prince grunted and nodded. Maiden, who was seated next to Duke on a ledge below the others, crossed her arms with a grim look though. Some things Dava said really didn't help her own worth in Maiden's eyes.

"I've had it, in any case."

Dava jumped off the cliff, and her pokémon followed her, more or less willingly. They approached the guy with the Marill, who was just drinking some water from a bottle he had kept in his bag. The sun was strong today, after all.

When he spotted them, he rose up with a friendly smile. Not even suspicious of strangers, Dava thought, shaking her head inside her mind.

He was dressed rather properly, in slim dark gray pants, stylish black boots and a softly blue shirt which was tucked into his pants. He was blonde, his hair combed neatly and parted in the middle, and while he did seem well built, he might also be a wee bit chubby; his face was just that tiny bit too round. When Dava walked up to him, his blue eyes tinkled at her. He simply looked like someone who didn't bear a single evil streak inside his heart. How stupid.

"Excuse me, sir," Dava said, polite as always, "Do you know if that is the way to Mauville?" She pointed towards Route 111.

"Yes, I came from there myself actually," the guy replied. "Are you going there now, miss...?"

Dava almost rolled her eyes. Introductions, really? They were just strangers. "Lalonde," she said though. "Yes, I will be challenging the gym there," she added just to seem a bit superior. This guy didn't seem to be a great trainer, after all.

"Oh, you are? That's fantastic!" The guy leaned to the side to glance at Dava's pokémon. For some reason, this annoyed her even more.

"I suppose you haven't defeated that gym yet either?" she slipped with a raised eyebrow.

He laughed a short laugh, as if pretending to be ashamed but not really being it. "No, you are quite right. I haven't. Not sure I'll try either. Some people just aren't meant to challenge gyms." He picked up his Marill, who hugged his chest happily.

Dava felt an odd sting somewhere inside of her, at his words. But she shook it off. "What were you doing with that Marill?" she asked.

"Training! I saw it jumping high around the pond so I approached it and asked if it wanted me to try and teach it some real moves."

"You... Saw it around the pond? And then you captured it and this was some time ago, right?"

The boy pretended to think for a moment. "Mm, no, I'm pretty sure it was this morning. Right before lunch. And I forgot to use a pokéball, it seems. Isn't that correct, Marill?" The pokémon cheered again in his arms.

Dava dropped the lady-style now. "You actually just met that pokémon and didn't capture it and yet it follows you happily?" she asked, wide eyed.

The guy retreated a little with a nervous smile. "Yes? I just wanted to see what it could do, I- I didn't mean to take it away from its home or anything. Unless it wants to, I guess." He looked at the pokémon and held it up. "Was that what you wanted?" Marill cheered and tried to reach down to hug him again. The guy laughed his little laughter and shrugged. "Oh, alright. I guess we'll use a pokéball later then. All is well!"

When he looked back to the girl, he noticed she had sat down on the ground, rubbing her head.

"What's the matter, miss Lalonde?" he asked, concerned, and crouched down beside her.

"I just gotta... I don't know. Who were you again?"

"Oh, I'm terribly sorry, miss! I forgot to introduce myself, how rude. I'm Derek Amosso, from Verdanturf Town."

Carl Bizarro
Chapter 3.1
Back on Track!

Carl's Team
Spoiler:

"Wakey-wakey, sleepyhead!" a voice gently said.

Carl was brought away from the pitch-black darkness in his head by a familiar voice. He slowly opened his eyes to find his best friend beside him, with a huge smile on her face. As soon as the boy groggily and slowly sat back up, the girl wrapped her arms around him. Carl let out a somewhat awkward chuckle, and hugged his partner back. "H-Hey..." he said quietly, "I feel so d-dizzy...What happened?" His friend then proceeded to fill him in on the details of how she had found him lying inside a cave, and how, with the help of her Pokémon, she got him out to a safe spot where he could recover. "Anyway, how are you feeling now?"

"My back still hurts, but I think I'm okay now..." he replied, "But I'm still very confused."

He looked around, finding himself in some odd cavern. It was small yet cozy, and there were no signs of wild Pokémon there. What was more, that cave had furniture! Where on earth was this and how did Felicity know of that place? "What is this place?"

"I told you, silly, it's a Secret Base!" she happily said, "Secret bases are very popular around Hoenn! I learned about them while you were climbing up Jagged Pass, and decided to give it a shot now! Talk about good timing, eh?"

"I guess... Hehehe..." Carl said, "Still, I can still hardly believe we're almost past Mt. Chimney!"

Felicity giggled and helped him stand back on his feet so that both could have a meal before leaving. Carl spotted a PC nearby but decided against asking how it could work in a cave, with no apparent power outputs.

Some time later...

Where Felicity's Secret Base once was now lied a rocky wall. Carl was even more surprised to see that after a simple command from the computer, all the items were returned and the cave shut itself after they left, leaving behind only a small indent in the wall. "Ready to get going, Carl?" his friend asked him, snapping him out of his train of questioning. He nodded, and both slowly continued to walk along the rocky road. On the distance they could see the Cable Car station, which apparently was fixed and taking people to the volcano's summit as it used to. Deciding to leave that thought of 'I should have waited and set up camp up top' aside for the moment, the two took their final steps off the mountain. On the way they passed a cave which gave Carl the feeling that it was hot in there, and he decided that he would not be exploring it then. Perhaps he'd come back when he had a Water-type Pokémon with him.

His attention then shifted to the Pokéballs that were around his waist. He took them both and, although his arms ached, he could move them back to his face. Sting... Gemma... he said to himself, having already named the Sableye before packing up, We're going to get real strong. I promise. Then he placed the Pokéballs back on his belt, his arms sending a slight wave of pain through his body. He definitely needed some medical treatment, but figured that the next city couldn't be very further away from his position.

AJ
3-0 Old Friends… Old habits…
Location: Route 112
Time of day: Morning

Inventory:
Spoiler:

Pokemon:
Spoiler:

There was a small stump in the clearing ahead, and AJ could see it would be the only safe place to rest for quite a while. Taking advantage of this, he sat down quietly so as not to tip off any lurking Pokémon. Tired and aching all over, He began to look around frantically.

"Hey Cypher, you still with me?" He urgently whispered, hoping that Cypher had been able to keep up with his pace.

"Shup Shup!", The small Shuppet appeared, floating next to his friend.

AJ had been on the run for several days, A few old team magma members had stopped by to pay him a visit. He owed them money, and they knew full well how much a ghost Pokémon would sell for on the black market. Since there was absolutely no way they were going to part with one another, AJ attacked his old teammates and fled his hometown of Lavaridge. Well, he knew full well that explanation was only partly true. He was tired of living as a bum in Lavaridge, If he could just shake his pursuers, perhaps he could find a better life exploring the world as a traveling trainer.

AJ reached into his bag, grabbing a hold of an old water bottle he took a few swigs of water. He turned towards Cypher, whom had been hovering patiently near him and offered the small Pokémon some water. The Shuppet hovered lower picking the water bottle out up of AJ's hands and allowing it to hover towards himself.

After a few more seconds of rest, AJ had packed up and began to jog once again. If he could just make it to route 111 he should be ok to slow down his pace, knowing full well that his old pals wouldn't dare chase him into Mauville. As he rounded a corner, something caught his foot, AJ tripped. Skidding across the ground like a ragdoll, he was unable to properly view the offending object.

"Whoops, it would seem I accidentally tripped an imbecile" , remarked a young, well-dressed man who came into view

"Ohohoho! Well if it isn't AJ, the bastard who attacked me back at Lavaridge… Well I managed to catch up with you didn't I? The best part is I also managed to buy a Pokémon from a dealer last night as well. Now we will be able to settle this once and for all…" The man continued.

AJ felt around with his right hand, feeling around for anything inconspicuous and useful. When his hand fell upon a fist sized rock, AJ quickly began to formulate a plan.

"Go Mawi-" the man shouted starting to throw his Pokéball.

It's now or never, AJ thought; clenching the rock in his hand, and leaping from the ground at the young man. The rock collided with the man's Jaw just after he had let go of the Pokéball.

The man tumbled to the ground, rolling about violently. AJ jumped on top of the stunned man, and began to beat him unconscious with the rock. Once he had become unresponsive, AJ slowed his assault, unable to completely finish off the man.

*I can't kill him… I've killed too many people as things stand already…* AJ thought, now standing over the unconscious body. He checked the man over, and couldn't help but notice he had a satchel.

*I wonder what kind of supplies he has on him…* At this point Cypher had appeared and was staring at AJ with an air of disapproval about him.

"What?, I'll only take what's useful to us, I mean he probably stole all of It anyhow", AJ explained only making himself feel a little better for looting the man.

As he went through the man's bag, he found: a canteen, some Pokéballs, a deck of Pokémon fact cards, an antidote, and a Potion. Quickly putting these supplies into his bag, AJ also decided to check the man's wallet as well. Rolling the body over, he slipped the wallet out and read his ID.

"Joseph Peterson… the name doesn't ring any bells in particular, but team Magma was a huge organization back in the day", he murmured to himself.

He took the money from the wallet, there was an average amount, he wasn't rich but he had a bit of cushion for Mauville now. Just then a stick began to poke the unconscious body; AJ looked up, and to his horror the Pokémon whom Joseph had been trying to send out, had indeed been standing behind him the whole time. He jumped up, taking a few steps back. The Mawile stood over Joseph as if not completely understanding of what had happened, AJ looked around for the Pokéball.

After a few seconds of searching, he had found what he was looking for. The ball had been laying a few meters away, and once AJ picked it up, he returned the Mawile back to its ball. He stared at the pokeball intently, considering his options. He could leave to the Pokémon here, so Joseph could continue to make chase, or… He could take the Pokémon with him and perhaps turn it in at Mauville. After all, The man had mentioned that it was purchased from a dealer, so some trainer was probably distraught over their stolen Mawile.

"Shup…" Cypher floated next to him, probably thinking the very same thing, He look his Pokémon in the eyes. The Shuppet seemed to actually agree upon what to do with this Pokémon, which was a convenient change in pace.

He hooked the ball onto his belt and decided to flee the scene; he had obviously been there for too long as it was already. The two partners continued their escape to route 111, post haste. All that sat in their dust was an unconscious man with an empty backpack and a broken face.

Hark Rense Chapter 3.2: The Search Begins...

Spoiler:

Gadgets
Spoiler:

Hark swiftly moved away from the small cave that had served as the thieves' lair, but now served as their grave. Getting to the main road on the route, he looked in the direction that led to the foot of the volcano, then he looked in the direction of Mauville. He made a split second decision to search on the path to Mauville and started in that direction.

It wasn't five minutes later he found a man sitting on the side of the road with a dazed look on his face. Hark smiled as he quickly realized this man was one of the two the thief had described. Walking up to him Hark said, "You bought a Pokemon recently. It was stolen from me and I would like it back, I can give you a refund if needed."

The man looked up at Hark for a second then said, "I don't have it. That **** AJ took it from me. Bet that little weasel is long gone by now."

"What does this AJ look like?" asked Hark with a sigh. He thought he was about to get back one of his Pokemon, but now that hope faded.

"Like a brown haired hobo in a red swear, he went that way," said the man pointing toward Mauville.

"Can you give any other details?" asked Hark.

"Want me to draw you a picture?" asked the man sarcastically. He then added, "He is young for looking like a hobo… sorry I'm terrible at profiling so just head in that direction and look. He should stick out like a sore thumb. Also if you find him, tell him that I'm coming for him and he better find a good hole to hide in because I'm going to kill him when I find him."

Hark glared at the man for a second then went off in the indicated direction without another word. He didn't want to waste anymore time talking to the man. Hark hurried along for a hour before he slowed down a little. The realization began to hit Hark that he might never see his Pokemon again. The old sting of failure began to return as bad memories resurfaced in his mind. Once again he had failed to protect Pokemon under his care. "Perhaps I made a mistake getting Pokemon… I was supposed to be devoting my time and effort to advancing technology. Now I'm trying to find Pokemon that I failed to protect," muttered Hark to himself.

"Perhaps this is fate telling me I shouldn't ever have a Pokemon and is driving me to focus on my true destiny," he continued before shaking his head. No it was too late now, he couldn't explain what it was, but a deep down something was screaming at him to find his Ralts. Hark didn't understand why he felt so strongly about this but he did. Hark laughed at himself out loud as he saw the irony of what had happened. Earlier that day he had mercilessly killed three men and he honestly had no regrets, and now something unexplainable to Hark was driving him to rescue a pocket monster. Heartless killer one second, and an overly caring train… caretaker on the other. Either way the decision was clear, he could refocus on his technological goals once he found Lannia. Until then he would devote his skills and energy to finding a Ralts.

How far had he fallen…

Chapter 3.2- Akito Sasaki

Akito's Team
Spoiler:

It was a sunny morning, perfect for battling as most trainers were thinking. The wind blew lightly, making the grass shake in slow motion. It was pleasant, neither too hot nor too cold. With both fire and ice moves being able to inflict roughly the same damage but the two pokemon that were present on the battlefield clearly had no ice or fire type moves. The first one was a big, hefty Heracross called Hercules and the other one was Gift the Golbat. Why she was called Gift was anyone's guess. 'Gift' meant 'poison' in German and what a poisonous pokemon a Golbat was!

Hercules looked cautiously at the Golbat moving around in circles. He knew flying types were deadly and he had to be careful against this one Golbat. He awaited his master's orders while observing the Golbat. She was obviously in no hurry to finish the battle. She knew that one false move made by the Heracross was enough for her to win the battle. "Hercules use Tackle!" Akito shouted. The moment he said these words the Heracross charged forward while being covered with a cloaked light at the same time. Bruce just gave a sideways motion of his arm and the Bat Pokemon moved to the side easily avoiding Hercules' Tackle. After that the Golbat easily flew to another side of the battlefield and yawned, opening it's huge jaws even wider than before, in the process mocking Hercules. Hercules blew….

He roared and ran towards the Golbat with an even greater speed. The Golbat once again easily dodged Hercules, and when Hercules had stopped, pausing for some rest. It dug it's fangs right into The Beetle Pokemon's back. Hercules roared with pain as he felt a pair of fangs digging right into his back. The Bat Pokemon's wings were also wrapped around him to prevent any escape. They felt leathery and a bit scaly on his skin. Then he felt the poison entering his body. He tried to move but it was hurting him --- a lot. When Gift finally left him, he just lay on the ground and it was impossible to say if he was conscious, dead or had fainted.

Bruce shouted,"Hey Aki dude, that all you got?" No sooner had he said those words, Hercules staggered up. Akito was about to shout 'Whoohoo!' but then stopped when he saw the bloodshot eyes of his Heracross as it headed for the Golbat."You are so screwed." Akito laughed while saying these words to his friend/person he didn't like/person who saved his life after understanding that his Heracross' ability had activated. Bruce stood still like a statue along with his Golbat.

Hercules grinned and shot out a seed from his mouth. The seed travelled straight and got stuck in Gift's mouth. "Sh*t," Bruce muttered as his Golbat went down trying to get the seed out of her mouth. Golbats as everyone knows usually have blood for food not giant oversized seed about as hard as a bullet. Hercules walked slowly with measured steps and then smiled as he stood above the Golbat. Then he held it up with one hand and with glowing arms started smashing the Golbat. Akito whipped out his Pokedex and when he examined Hercules with it, he smiled. His Heracross had learnt Arm Thrust.

However, they had not realized it but the repeated smashes had managed to get the seed out of Golbat's mouth. It bit one of Hercules' hands and left him crying out in pain.

"Haze quickly Gift!" came the order from Bruce. Without hesitation, the Golbat spat out some type of smoke from it's mouth and Hercules was blinded while the two trainers stood outside the mist with Akito looking carefully for his pokemon. "Gift, finish it off with Brave Bird." Bruce shouted hoping that his Golbat herself was not lost in the fog. Suddenly something covered with flames came from the sky and eventually the orange flames changed into blue and hit something inside the mist.

Akito heard something crumbling to the floor and immediately knew what had happened. Gift stood on the other side definitely exhausted and on the verge of fainting. After the fog cleared, Akito saw Hercules fallen down in the ground and quietly returned him to his pokeball.

"Hey, you battled well man." Bruce said, trying to comfort Akito. Akito looked down at the gropund for a moment before smiling, "It's okay man. I was bound to lose one day anyway, Bye, will meet you in Mauville." He said moving along a road that led right. He had lied however. He was very angry and secretly he swore under his breath, "I will take my revenge, Bruce. I will beat you in the next battle."

~ ~ ~

"Anybody there?" Akito asked ringing a bell many times. He had continued along the road for a while and so he had decided to stop for some time at some guest house. It was an old cottage which was painted in some dull shade of maroon. "Coming dear." He heard an old voice and turned to see an old woman with silver hair wearing a shapeless type of dress of some color. It could have been made ten years or fifty years ago.

'Ah, a young one is it? If you'd like I could heal your pokemon and you could rest for a while on one of those sofas." She asked. Akito gladly accepted her offer and lowered himself one the chair. The old lady handed him a packet of chips which Akito decided to munch on without even looking at the expiry date. He switched on a TV and began watching some of his favorite reality shows.

"You know the cost is 50
Pok%C3%A9monDollar.png
right?" she asked.

"Yeah sure, whatever." Akito said lazily not even moving a muscle.

3-1 Unexpected Catch
Time of day: early afternoon
Location: Somewhere along route 112
AJ

Inventory:
Spoiler:

Pokemon:
Spoiler:

"Damn! I'm getting tired of all of this running, where is the end of this route?" AJ shouted in exasperation.

He decided to slow his pace; he'd been running for several miles since earlier, and figured that he had broken free of his pursuers for now. That and just ahead there seemed to be an overgrown pasture of tall grass;he really didn't want to take any chances with running into wild Pokémon.

Though he had no idea where he was on the route, AJ couldn't help but admire how pleasant the surrounding area seemed. Although still a small bit mountainous and rocky, Route 112 had a lot to offer in term of wildlife as well. There was a lush and healthy forest growing on one side of the path, and With every breath he took, AJ could taste the fresh, ash free air. The afternoon sun was warm, but coupled with his sweatshirt It was a little much.

As he walked, AJ took off his sweatshirt and tied it around his waist, revealing a tattered and filthy white tee shirt; at least he thought it had been white. Just then Cypher appeared, hovering next to hom as they made their way into the tall grass. The Shuppet was keeping watch for anything odd as they crossed. Not more A hundred feet into the Grass, Cypher hovered down near AJ; he seemed to have noticed something.

"Shup!" He warned, only to concern AJ.

"What is it?" AJ stopped walking and asked, hoping that he didn't have to deal with another blundering pursuer.

Just then, a small hand reached through a particularly dense bit of grass; grasping onto his sweatshirt, the hand stripped it right off of his waist with ease. The small creature retreated into the thick grass from whence it came.

"Hey get back here you Bastard! That's my sweatshirt!" AJ Called after the runt, whoever it was; immediately giving chase. After all, no one steals his beloved sweatshirt, not even this scrawny little thief.

As the chase kept up, AJ became more and more restless, knowing that he was losing precious time. Time that his attackers could be monopolizing on; He knew he had to end this frivolous game of cat and mouse. Deciding to cut the thief off in the open road, AJ moved out to the other side of the Grassy area, and he called for Cypher to herd the stranger into the road where they could finish what they had started.

Once he made it to the open ground, AJ gave the go, and Cypher went to work. He began Attacking Sporadically, diverting his prey. It began to take effect as the runner quickly chose a new direction and they Bee lined straight for AJ; who stood ready for the stranger, preparing to tackle them as soon as they emerged from the grass.

He soon got his chance when the humanoid burst into the clearing, Cypher still hot on his tail. AJ Leaped onto the oddly small person, Squeezing tightly, only to receive a powerful Kick to the stomach. He immediately let go, falling to the ground in pain. Cypher boxed the attacker in as he took a second to recover.

After a few seconds, AJ had begun to stand himself up once more; as he did, he came face to face with an odd looking humanoid Pokémon. The Pokémon was small, sgrey and its only distinguishing features were three pale yellow, vertical ridges atop its head.

He'd never seen a Pokémon like this, but regardless the problem still remained. The small grey Pokémon was holding onto HIS sweatshirt, the very shirt that has been with him through thick and thin.

"Cypher use Will-O-Wisp!" He shouted, trying to buy time to think of something to do.

The attack missed, and at that moment AJ realized that it may be a foolish idea to use fire near his sweatshirt. He ordered Cypher to attack using Shadow sneak instead.

A few moments went by, and the Pokemon seemed to put up a rather stout defense. AJ was becoming restless, but what could he do? Just then a crazy thought passed through his mind, but it was just crazy enough to work.

He began to dig through his rucksack, and there it was. His hand firmly grasped one of the Pokéballs he had stolen earlier. He had thought that if he caught the persistent Pokémon he'd be able to get his sweatshirt back.

His hand firmly grasped the Pokéball and turned towards the Pokemon; a tingling feeling slowly began to emanate from inside his stomach. He had never caught his own Pokémon before, So many questions arose, things that he wished to be answered, things like: whether the strange Pokémon would be friendly, or would it hate him. So many things swirled in his thoughts, but he decided that he could fool himself into overcoming the hurdle by using his sweatshirt as the reason for doing so.

"Here goes nothing!" He shouted, chucking the ball at the Pokémon.

The Ball flew through the air and by luck, it hit the Pokémon right in the head; absorbing it inside, via a red aurora. The ball fell to the ground and shook violently for several moments; finally it settled down and sealed.

AJ stood in amazement, he'd never caught a Pokémon in his life and His very first lay only meters away. Adrenaline still flowing, He walked over to the ball, and picked it up. He examined the ball, and just then Cypher popped up inches away from the ball as well. He seemed to examine the ball and then shifted his inquisitive stare toward AJ.

"It's ok; this one is legitimately our friend, we'll be able to travel together" He happily announced, Cypher registered the happiness, and seemed ecstatic.

AJ suddenly realized where he was, and how much time had been wasting when he could have been running. Cursing the setback under his breath, he hooked the Pokéball onto his belt and beckoned Cypher to follow him as they continued their run to Route 111. As they ran, he couldn't help but to feel kind of happy the strange Pokémon stole his sweatshirt; he wondered if every trainer felt the same way, every time they caught a Pokémon for themselves.

----------------------------------------

After several hours melted away, AJ found himself staring into the face of hope. The face was in fact a sign, which read:

Route 111 Head south to Mauville, West to Route 112.

Just beyond the sign, there was a house that looked sort of like a rest stop. He decided that he ought to rest a little, and get acquainted with both of the Pokémon he had come to receive earlier in the day. He casually walked to the door knocked, being greeted by an old woman.

"Well hello there! Do you need to take a break? For 50
Pok%C3%A9monDollar.png
I'll let you stay here and rest as long as you please" She greeted in a rather gentle tone.

"Sure, just let me pay up front." AJ responded, reaching into his stolen money and retrieving what seemed to him a small fortune.

Shaking off the shock of having to spend a tiny portion of the money he had lifted; AJ paid the old woman and walked inside. There was a sandy brown haired man whom looked no taller or older than he was, who seemed to be absent mindedly eating snacks on the couch. He decided to avoid the young man, and immediately headed to the restroom. For 50
Pok%C3%A9monDollar.png
He was going to take a shower and borrow the washing machine to get a quick load of laundry done as well. Then He could sit down and figure everything out.

----------------------------------------

AJ was amazed at how much of a difference a simple shower and some clean clothes made him look. His shirt was no longer a nasty brownish grey but a stark white. His jeans looked new other than their many mends. His face wasn't greasy and grimy, and his hair looked a tad better; though he knew he needed a haircut as soon as they made it to Mauville. Above all he looked a lot less like an old hobo and more like an actual member of society.

After getting dressed, he walked back into the rest of the house. Just then One thought passed through his mind, He had been so happy for catching the strange Pokémon that he forgot all about his sweatshirt, when in fact the sweatshirt was absorbed into the ball with the Pokémon.

*Crap!* he thought, conceding that in fact so far today, that little thief had been able to best him.

Aya Ingvar - Chapter Three - Part 3

Aya's Team
Spoiler:

Grizzly was sent flying by the jagged rocks, eventually skimming across the ground to a halt behind Aya.
"Grizzly! Are you okay?" Aya called, looking behind her to see her furry little pokemon struggling to her feet.
"Teddi!" Grizzly replied, looking furious at having taking a hit before the battle had truly begun. Aya felt similarly, she didn't really know this guy but she knew that she had an intense like for him already.

Grizzly obeyed without hesitation, growing ever more used to Aya's battling style and strategies the more time they spend as a team – and actually finding she had not once disagreed with a command. The teddiursa unleashed a flurry of nasty scrathes with her claws forcing the Sandslah back slightly as it once again attempted to defend with its own claws – against the rapid flurry of attacks this wouldn't be enough though, unfortunately for Aya Dave would also realise this.
"Defence Curl!" the unlikeable trainer ordered, his pokemon immediately rolling up it's dangerous spines pointed outwards.
"Stop before you impale yourself on its spines Grizzly!" the Teddiursa stopped, still poised to resume tearing at her opponent at a moment's notice. Dave grinned arrogantly at Aya and Grizzly
"Pathetic really, you'll have to do a lot better than that."

Who'd have thought Defence Curl could actually be such a dangerous move… as long as it's rolled up like that Grizzly can't tough it without being cut up by its spines and she doesn't really have any ranged attacks except for fling, and with no decent projectiles around that's out of the question.
"We've given them a long enough break, Sandslash use Crush Claw!" the ground type unrolled forwards, to be crouched right in front of Grizzly it's claws blazing with a furious blue light. Sandslash swung an arm up in an uppercut its claws striking Grizzly across the front of her body knocking her down, sending her flying back several metres.
"Grizzly, you okay?" Grizzly struggled to her feet once more, shooting Aya a look that simply said "stop asking" before being knocked back to the ground by a second Crush Claw, leaving a visible dent in the dirt.

Grizzly climbed to her feet once more, glaring at the Sandslash.
"Rollout!" Dave's pokemon rolled into a ball again, this time flying at Grizzly.
"Don't get hit, the spines!" Aya yelled even as Grizzly leapt to the side avoiding the flying ball of spikes that was already heading back at her again. Grizzly dodged again and again, but dodging wouldn't help them win in the long run.
What can I do about this… the idea struck Aya even as she began to worry, a group of rocks behind Grizzly was exactly what she needed – and there was one because of the previous stone Edges.
"Get close to the nearest rock" she said, feeling victory in her grasp. Dave didn't even notice she was planning something caught up in his supposedly easy win.
"Again!" he ordered, the Sandslash once again flying straight at Grizzly.
"Out the way!" Grizzly leapt to the side, the Sandslash destroying the rock but being deflected in a different direction, unwrapping itself just in time to prevent itself from being shoved between a pair of tight-together stones.
"I see what you were doing, you won't beat us with cheap tricks." Dave cawed, laughing at his bravado
Aya also laughed
"I beg to differ, Fling!" Grizzly flung a clump of rock shards and dirt into the face of the sandslash at a high velocity, pushing it back, dazing it and blinding it temporarily which all together left it very unbalanced.
"Jam it in the rocks!"
Teddiursa obeyed, forcing the panicking ground type between the two stones it had conjured.
"Now" Aya said, grinning widely at Dave's frustration "Scratch". Grizzly delivered a powerful scratch across the dazed and injured sandslash's weak, and now exposed belly, leaving it hanging limp in the rocks, exhausted and defeated.
"It doesn't matter how strong your pokemon is if you have no strategy" Aya chided before returning Grizzly with a thanks and walking away from the scene of her battle, ignoring the stream of obscenities behind her.

Hark Rense Chapter 3.2: The Search Begins...

Spoiler:

Gadgets
Spoiler:

Hark walked down the path frustration filling his mind, he couldn't stop obsessing in his mind over how he had failed. He stopped walking at one point and calmed his breathing and cleared his mind. He had to formulate a distraction for his mind so he wouldn't obsess so much about his lost Pokemon. He didn't know what bothered him so much it… was it that he truly cared for Lannia, or was it because he had failed. Putting down his backpack he pulled out his laptop, and before putting his backpack back on.

Opening the Laptop he booted it up and began to work on it while he walked down the path. Holding it with his artificial hand his flesh and bone fingers worked furiously on the keyboard and touch pad. Like a machine Hark's mind and fingers worked to put ideas and plans on the Laptop. However this would be a short escape from his present problems as the battery on his laptop was about dead. He signed as he closed the device after putting some finishing touches on his idea. Looking around he noticed he had walked right pass a small guest house. Good somewhere he could charge his laptop. Turning around he walked over to the house and knocked on the door.

After paying the "friendly" old lady Hark started searching for a power outlet, but someone else caught his eye. The man looked much like the description given to him by the one man, but a little cleaner. Considering his hair looked a little damp likely he had just showered so that would make sense. Hope reentered Hark's mind as changed direction and walked over to the person. "Hello I couldn't help but notice you meet the description of someone I was looking for," said Hark as he positioned himself between the exit and the man. He continued, "I was told you "stole" a Pokemon that never belonged to the man you stole it from in the first place." Hark looked into the man's eyes looking to see how he reacted to his words. Hark's stance showed was not aggressive, but was one that easily turn into an aggressive stance at a moments notice.

Midori "Kyuu" Kuramoto

776155-bigthumbnail.jpg

phantump.png

It has been about three days since Midori and Kiichigo left Lavaridge Town. Oddly enough, around the same time, a number of other trainers set out on journeys as well, but Kyuu had done all in her power to remain unnoticed , being more focused on the goal of her journey rather than making friends.

Having reached the base of the mountain, Kyuu sat on a boulder nearby and started fumbling about through her backpack, in search of her sneakers. Since they weren't on the mountain anymore, there was no need for her to keep wearing her hiking boots. Her search was nearly unsuccessful, as her backpack was a mess. Everything was piled up in one pocket, instead of each thing being in the proper, easy to reach, pockets. Suddenly, the girl's Berry Pouch fell out and a few Pecha Berries rolled out of the pouch and onto the ground. She had especially hand-picked those berries from her small berry garden back home, knowing how her beloved Kii adored any sweet berries.

As if drawn by the scent of the berries, a tiny Azurill hopped out of a nearby patch of tall grass and quickly grabbed one of the berries, rushing to hop out of Midori's sight, a lazy Phantump watching her snack get stolen, without bothering to even fully open her eyes.

An amused Kyuu burst into tears, causing the Stump Pokémon to fall off her head where she was casually resting. Still laughing, the girl carefully picked her friend off the ground and dusted the Pokémon off, then placed her back onto her head.

"I'm sorry" she said, still giggling, "but it's the first time I've seen you not care about your treats getting stolen." The girl went on as she started picking up the rest of the berries. "Hmph…. Maybe I should finally organize this bag…" she huffed and simply emptied her entire backpack on the ground, before her. "Let's see…. Maybe the berries could go here, in this little pocket and the medical supplies in the other…" Midori started thinking aloud as she found proper pockets for all of her items. She didn't really have that many items to begin with, but not keeping them organized would still be a hindrance on the long run. Her "inventory" if she could call it that consisted of about 1500 Pokédollars, two potions, five PokéBalls, (now)four Pecha Berries, a PokéNav, her PokéDex, some clothes, a sleeping bag, a tent that can fit two people, or a person and a few small/medium size Pokémon that she usually shares with Kii and a picnic set as well as a small pot, enough to fit a person's needs when it comes to outdoors cooking and eating.

After sorting out her entire backpack, Midori was finally ready to go on with her journey so she pulled out her PokéNav for a position check .

"Route 112… the next town on the map seems to be Mauville City. Guess that's where we're heading!" the girl cheerfully said as she looked up at the bored Phantump. "Well then… let's go!" she said as she finally found and put her sneakers on.

The weather was rather nice, the Sun was shining and there were Pokémon everywhere. Throughout their entire journey so far, Midori's seen numerous Pokémon, but neither one of the various types piqued her interest, so she never even bothered to go past the basic process of scanning them with her Pokédex. There was, however, one Pokémon that she immediately fell in love with when she lay her eyes on it.

About two days had passed since the beginning of her journey. She and Phantump were traversing Mt. Chimney through what seemed like the perfect route for the pair, a mixture of paths and caves, when, a sudden commotion caused the girl to get sidetracked. Unusually curious, the girl rushed towards what seemed like the source of the commotion and, upon arriving, she saw a group of Fire Types training, being ordered around by a red-haired woman that seemed a bit TOO energetic for Kyuu's taste. The girl had no interest in the woman's Pokémon, but, just as she was about to turn around and resume her journey, her eyes fell upon a Pokémon that looked much like a lamp. The colour of its flame mesmerized Midori and its movements were ever so graceful. The girl immediately felt drawn to the strange Pokémon so she immediately pulled out her Pokédex:
"Lampent, the Lamp Pokémon.
The spirits it absorbs fuel its baleful fire.It hangs around hospitals waiting for people to pass on."
"I knew it!" Midori exclaimed, startling the energetic woman and her Pokémon. "It's a Ghost Type!" she went on and ran over to the Lampent excitedly.

After much examining and squealing in excitement, Midori felt a sudden spark deep in her heart. She felt excited as never before. Her heart started pounding, her blood started boiling and her cheeks turned rosy as she eyed the Lampent with a determined look. She wanted to battle it, to see it in action so she insisted towards the Pokémon's trainer, the energetic woman whose name she then found out to be Flannery, until the latter gave in to her pleas and accepted the challenge.

Midori and Kiichigo got defeated, rolled around and tossed aside. It was a defeat, but the girl and her partner saw it more of a victory. They had the pleasure of experiencing a battle against another Ghost Type. Together… like a real team. It was then that Midori was even more certain of her goal and that she decided she wanted to get a Lampent of her own one day.

Back to more current events, Midori and Kii continued their walk along Route 112, enjoying the Sun and the wildlife, as well as eachother's company. Mauville City seemed to be a whole day away from reach, but the two friends were ever so motivated that the distance seemed like nothing. The two were so determined that they didn't even notice the presence of other Trainers along the way.

Aya Ingvar - Chapter Three - Part 3

Aya's Team
Spoiler:

Aya continued walking down the sandy road on her way to Mauville, the warm sun starting to get to the point it felt a little uncomfortable when coupled with the hot wind blowing at her back from the desert to the north. After walking a little while further, Aya decided it was time for a break sitting under the shade of a willow tree that seemed quite out of place when compared to the other flora in the area.
"Alright, why don't you keep me company?" Aya laughed, releasing Grizzly and Ladon from there pokeballs and dishing out two bowls of pokemon food.

Ladon lunged happily for his bowl, Grizzly on the other hand proceeded to completely ignore her food and began to pummel a large rock at the edge of Aya's chosen resting place. Aya watched for a while, perplexed before the realisation that Grizzly was unhappy with the battle against the Sandslash earlier.
"Calm down, that was a fully evolved pokemon and you won. You did really well, a close win is much better than a loss." Grizzly ignored Aya, the teddiursa only hitting the stone harder. Aya continued to ponder the situation as Ladon gorged into his meal, oblivious to what was going on around him.
I don't get it… it's almost like she doesn't count it as a win? Is it because she thinks she couldn't have won without me?

Aya climbed to her feet, grabbing the orange-brown furred pokemon before it could attack the rock again, clutching it tight as it struggled against her grip.
"Knock it off would you!" Aya yelled in frustration, shocking her pokemon into halting at last.
"Teddi?"
"You're plenty powerful, and you're clever too. Remember our battle when I caught you? I'm sure you'd have thought of something without me anyway, but we're a team now so it's good that we came up with something faster together. Just relax and eat your lunch, if you want to train that badly we can train some more after you eat." That seemed to do the trick, the normal-typed pokemon calming down and padding over to eat next to Ladon – albeit far more conservatively.

After a while, both were finished – prompting Aya to grin at them standing up.
"Okay, now we can train. Why don't you guys try to hit each other and I'll judge?"
"Axew!"
"Teddi!" Aya was surprised with the eagerness with which her pokemon agreed, but she figured healthy competition was always a good thing and they seemed to love the idea, so why not let them be happy with the training method?

The two launched at each other in a flurry of glowing blue Dual Chops from Ladon clashing with the rapid slashes of Grizzly's Fury Swipes. Again and again they clashed, neither giving an inch. Swipes and chops collided again and again, with each pokemon throwing everything into each collision, neither giving an inch, but slowly Grizzly seemed to be getting the upper hand with Ladon unable to keep up with the rapid flurry of scratches.

Ladon leapt back, a purple light encompassing one of his paws as he ran for Grizzly trying to hit her with an Assurance attack – but a surprise awaited him. Grizzly's right paw glowed with a faint white light before she proceeded to launch a powerful punch at the little green dragon. Aya watched in awe as Ladon's Assurance was easily countered by Grizzly's new Brick Break attack, her starter being launched backwards straight through the rock Grizzly had been scratching at before his attack unable to match the raw strength of Grizzly's.
"Axew…" her pokemon groaned, crawling out of the rubble.

Aya ran for her teddiursa
"Well done Grizzly, you learned Brick Break and it packs one hell of a punch too! You did great –" before she could congratulate Ladon something flew from the rubble forcing Aya to dive to the side. Aya looked after the blur, which stopped rotating and landed on its feet. A small-gold yellow mammalian pokemon looking furious at the group. It appeared the sandshrew had been resting on the other side of the rock when Ladon had gone flying through it.
"Shrew!" Aya laughed
"Sorry about that, but hey I was looking for a Sandshrew anyway. Ready Ladon?"

Sullivan "Sully" Raine
Chapter 3.1 - Even playing field.
Time of day: Midday
Location: Route 112

Pokemon
Spoiler:

Sully's journey had only just begun but he already felt as if he'd be doing this for quite some time. His foster carer, Annabelle had accompanied him to Lavaridge Town to get him settled in on his new journey outside of what he knew before. It was a new experience and one that had been on his mind for quite some time but why it took him so long he really didn't know. Setting off with a backpack filled with the essential gadgets and added extras from Annabelle, it was fair to say that he was ready to take on the big bad world with his partner, Chikorita.

The small energetic grass bounced into the air and used the leaf on its head to chop a few berries from the tree. Sully was rested on some patchy grass nearby, watching Chikorita intently play by herself with a warm expression, a rare expression Sully shared with anyone else. Chikorita proudly strutted towards her trainer and began to nibble on the berries she collected.

"Showing off, are we?" Sully smirked, raised his eyes at the grass type. Chikorita could only flutter her eyes in innocence but it came across rather mocking and humourous. Sully stood up and began to climb the tree until he was within reach of a few more berries. He began to shake the tree and a shower of berries began to come down, putting Chikorita to shame. A frown overcome the grass type's face as it was now surrounded by berries but that frown quickly became devious and suspect. As Sully began to climb down the tree, Chikorita began to quickly chow down on the berries delivered to her by her trainer. Sully makes it down and looks over to see one or two berries left and he sighs.

"You do realise that those berries were for you later on?" he asked.

"Chik-Chikorita!" the little grass Pokemon chirped happily as it charged her trainer. Sully happily caught her as he began to cuddle with her.

"You're a frustrating little diva sometimes but I do love you." Sully admitted and Chikorita slipped through Sully's embrace and landed gracefully on the ground, following a rustle it heard. Sully casually took no notice and began to take in his surroundings. Curious, he reached for his Pokedex to make sense of where he was now. There was a map feature on the Pokedex which he had been using to get around without winding up lost and the appetiser of a Gyarados or Ursaring. A few moments passed before he noticed Chikorita was out of his sight. He turned slightly and she wasn't there. "Chikorita..? CHIKORITA?!"

"Chik! Chikorita! Chik!" Chikorita signals from a distance. Sully's follows the noise through a few bushes and he finally finds Chikorita now in the company of two different flying types. Behind Chikorita is a hurt Starly.

"What is going on here then?" Sully asked in confusion as he took in the scene. Sully's Pokedex began to activate and Identify the Pokemon as Starly and 2 Tailow's.

"Chika! Chikorita! Chik Chik Chika!" Chikorita frantically yelped as it pointed at the two rather sinister Pokemon. "Chika!" Chikorita now pointing at the injured Starly.

"Hm, so you're protecting this Starly from being ganged up on? Pretty noble of you, Chikorita… I must say." Sully admitted with a slight grin but that grin soon fades as he lays his eyes on the opposing Tailow's. "But now that it's no longer a handicap match, how about we do this?" Sully's energy soared into Chikorita as she was now pumped.

"Chikorita!" Without so much as a command, Chikorita began to charge rapidly towards both the Tailow's. It was just like Chikorita to get overzealous during a battle and bite off more than it could chew. Chikorita hit both Pokemon with a damning tackle.

"Nice. Let's go in with another tackle, Chikorita!" his command was met by Chikorita. Sully looked to the Starly who looked quite frightened by Sully's presence. With a stare that would probably deter anyone off Sully, Starly chirped at Sully and he nodded. "You wanna join in?"

"Star Starly" The injured Starly began to flap his wings and took flight. He watched and swooped towards the Tailow with a quick attack but missing it by just a little. The Tailow smirks and speeds in with a peck that makes a devastatingly connection that even Sully winced at. Starly makes a hard thud to the ground and proudly tries to stand. Whilst the other Tailow used double team around Chikorita and then closed in with quick attack, throwing Chikorita few yards back.

"You okay?" Sully said to both but with a watchful eye on Chikorita.

"Starly…" he painfully replied.

"Alright, then lets win this!" Sully said with motivation. The Starly nodded and took flight once more, now nearer to Chikorita. Chikorita turns and smiles at the flying type before focusing back on the opponents. "Right, Chikorita! Let's go with Grass Pledge on Starly and Starly, how about another quick attack?" his command was met as a collective acceptance as both Pokemon charged with what they had. A column of strong leaf attacks began to pelt at both the Tailow's whilst a quick attack knocks one to the ground with no chance of getting up. Starly swoops in with a wing attack, stunning Sully slightly. This Pokemon had some power behind it. Sully's smile slowly forms into an almighty grin. Battling was so much more than what he expected and he loved it ever so much. Both the Tailow's flew off in a hurry and that was the end of it. Sully turned to the two and gave them a thumbs up. "Great work you two! We won!" The two Pokemon cheered in elation.

"Chika Chik Chikarita!" Chikorita bickered at the Starly who was still a bit wounded from the battle. Sully reached into his pouch and offered one of the remainder of the berries he had left to the Starly.
"Here you go, buddy. All yours." The Starly looked at the berry and then at Sully before happily accepting it. A small satisfied smile overcame Sully before he turned to Chikorita. "You were both great."

"Star Starly!" The Starly chirped happily before taking flight. Sully stood up straight and looked at the Starly.

"You know, we could do with a new friend if you fancy joining us."

"Chikorita!" Chikorita added with excitement.

The Starly looked at the two and flew back into battling position. An impressed scoff came from Sully as he knew what was going on.

"You like to play hard ball, huh? I guess you're a lot like Chikorita here then." Chikorita gave a stern look before taking her place in the battle. "I guess we're doing this!"

AJ's Pokemon:
Spoiler:

"I was told you "stole" a Pokemon that never belonged to the man you stole it from in the first place." said the man standing directly in front of AJ.

At least, He thought it was a man; the person looked like they had stepped directly out of a science fiction movie he had watched when he was younger. The man stood about the same height as himself, and looked like he was fit enough to go into the military at any moment. The only thing that said otherwise was the man's clothing and a metal right arm.

He had been thouroughly caught off guard by the accusation, though he knew it was true. AJ looked the man over, knowing that there was no way this guy was in cahoots with the other fools who had been following him. There were no indications that he was an actual trainer either, He didn't seem to have any pokemon with him at all. After a few moments he concluded that the guy probably had his pokemon stolen, much in the same way he had taken the Mawile. He also concluded that there was only one good way to tell whether or not the man was telling the truth, and for that he would need Cypher.

AJ smiled and broke the silence, "I wouldn't go so far as to say "stole", I merely "removed" the pokemon from the possession of an idiot thug" He paused, thinking about how to continue. "Did you know one of the prime characteristics of a Shuppet is the ability to consume emotions? They can also interpet the sincerity of a person through the emotions that are consumed." Cypher revealed himself next to AJ's right shoulder.

"Would you mind if my friend did a quick check? If you indeed are telling the truth, this shouldn't take long." finishing his short monologue.

Hark glared at the man and he said with a cold factual voice, "I honestly don't care how you got my Pokemon. The thief that stole it from me has been dealt with. I do mind you Pokemon eating my emotions… just bring up the Pokemon's profile on your Pokedex. You will see its register trainer number matches my trainer number. If I had legally traded it, the number would have changed. That way you can confirm my claim and your Shuppet doesn't have to eat anything of mine." Hark was not going to allow this man's Pokemon to do anything to him, especially knowing how this man acquired his Pokemon in the first place. For all Hark knew this man was trying to rob or attack Hark as well, and Hark wasn't going to take any risks.

He then pulled out his own Pokedex to show AJ his trainer card but then realized his screen was still broken. Muttering something about some stupid rock pokemon Hark pulled his sunglasses over his eyes and typed on his Pokedex for a few seconds . He then offered AJ the sunglasses while explaining, "My Pokedex's screen got busted by a Pokemon… anyway I've built a H.U.D. into these sunglasses the information my Trainer card number is displayed on the sunglasses in the upper right corner. Also if the Pokemon you have is a Ralts you will find her registered name to be Lannia. If it's a Mawile her name is Nara." His voice's inflection showed more hope in the Pokemon being a Ralts, showing Hark's preference to find his first Pokemon over the Mawile. Hark didn't look very patient as he crossed his arms and shifted his weight from one leg to the other as he gauged AJ's response.

AJ stood dumbfounded, as he thought to himself * A Pokedex? There's really a device that holds all of that information?*

It hadn't occured to him that perhaps there were other, less barbaric ways to go about things such as this. He had always been used to how things went in the criminal world; in fact he never really gave it much thought to finding out how to go about being a real trainer. Regardless, the man stood waiting for him to take a look at his odd pair of glasses.

AJ tooka look through the glasses, and to his amazement he was looking at a small computer screen. Sure enough a mawhile appeared on the screen with both its nickname and its trainer Id on the screen as well. He worked through the amazement of the moment and handed the glasses back to the man, who was already seemed to be growing in impatience.

"Well that's more than enough proof for me sir, I've only heard vague stories of people using pokedex's before." AJ paused, "Can you use them to identify pokemon in the wild too? What about finding the trainer Id if the trainer isn't there to give it to you?"

AJ couldn't resist asking these questions, He was amazed at the small device's power and at its uses as well.

Hark looked at AJ with a lifted eyebrow and said, "You don't know what a PokeDex is? If you didn't have a Pokemon or asked such questions frankly I would be more excited. Sadly, you just seem to be a trainer with less common knowledge. Either way to answer your question: Yes it can ID a wild Pokemon with it due to a small scanner on the front that allows it to identify Pokemon by looking for specific traits. However the amount of detail it can give with this "glance" is limited. Once a Pokemon is caught however the Pokeballs themselves communicate with the Pokedex allowing it to display more involved information on that individual. Also it is linked with a global data base for trainers so you can look up their IDs using their names, unless they want to remain hidden, which I would recommend. The sunglasses with a built in H.U.D. is my invention, which I hope will help me toward my goal."

Hark seemed like he regarded AJ as lower than himself as he talked about the Pokedex and his invention. "Now if you would give me my Pokemon instead of amusing yourself with my Pokedex it would be appreciated," added Hark in an impatient tone. Hark's day had not been a great one so far and his patience for dealing with idiots was low. He knew he was being rather rude, but he didn't care at this point.

AJ was a tad surprised, and offended but he shook it off. Grabbing the Mawhile's pokeball from his belt, he handed it to the man for testing.

"I'm curious to see what this device can do", he said, still very interested in the Pokedex.

Hark grabbed the pokeball in a manner that showed both his impatience and his hope for what was inside. He seemed a little excited as he pressed the button on the Pokeball, but that face quickly twisted into disappointment as he saw it was a Mawile and not a Ralts. "Nara," said Hark with a less than thrilled voice he then shifted his attention to AJ; Handing the glasses back so AJ could see.

The sunglasses filled with information on the left, right and top of them. The left side showed the Pokemon's known moves, while the right showed its traits and "values" given to show the Pokemon's attributes such as attack, defense, etc. On the top was the Mawile's name, Nara, and her expected "hit points" that were gauged by estimating how much damage the Pokemon could take before it was out of the fight.

Looking over at AJ Hark asked, "Well what do you think of the displayed information? Anything I should remove from the "battle" screen or add that a trainer would find useful?" Hark's voice wasn't extremely friendly when he spoke this time but it was at least more pleasant than before. He then added, "I haven't gotten the scroll function to work so you can view other information yet without pressing buttons on the Pokedex itself, but I have a plan on how to do that." Nara didn't seem to care that her trainer was disappointed in seeing her and not Lannia, honestly she didn't care who was her trainer at this time. Smelling food the fairy/steel type wandered into the kitchen where she started to climb up a chair to get the food on the countertop.

AJ stood still, completely overrun by the information that appeared on the screen. A lot of it didn't seem to be important, although he found that the Pokedex could be used to identify a pokemon. He immediately thought of the mysterious pokemon he had with him, knowing that this device would be able to tell him a bit more with what he was dealing with.

He began to form the thought into words, but was cut short by a distressed Shuppet.

Cypher appeared for a short moment Screeching a loud warning "Shup". Once he did, AJ turned his attention towards the front door of the house. He calmly handed the glasses back to the man and told Cypher to find a good hiding spot. His pursuers must have found him. It was time to get serious, His attackers needed to be put in thier place once and for all.

A sharp knock came from the door, and when the old lady began to open it, thought she was violently forced aside by an an aggravated Mightyena. Three men emerged from behind the pokemon, all three seemed to have a bad attitude. The lead man had the angriest demeanor, though he also had the Blackest Eye of all. None of the men looked like the younger kid he had faced earlier that day, maybe he had been a contractor of sorts.

"Well If it isn't our old friend AJ, Looks like you've made a few friends since last time." The man began, referring to the man who had recieved his pokemon, and the other young man who seemed to be off in his own little world on the couch.

"It would seem that we will have to deal with all of you now" He finished, glaring at the three.

Unknown to the young man, Akito who was mesmerized with the 'Kanghaskan Sisters' show on TV. So mesmerized that he didn't notice a cyborg/man and a shabby guy talking about the Pokedex. He also didn't realize it when some random dudes who were after AJ came and violently pushed the old lady outside. He DID realize something was happening when a dark type critter leaped onto him, barely missing him by a few inches, crashing into the TV.

"Crap," Akito muttered, turning around and spotting the gang who were advancing onto Hark and AJ. It was pretty obvious from the people's looks who were the bad guys and the good guys, although he was not that sure about the guy with the metal arm.

Akito readied himself into his fighting stance and shouted out loud, "Now listen, I don't know what this is all about but I'm pretty sure this is some kind of revenge attack or something on that guy who has..... wet hair or the cyborg guy. You'll should be warned that I'm an expert in the martial arts trained by the Gym Leader Chuck himself and I shan't hesitate to break you're bones if you'll continue to attack."

Akito smiled to himself as he reached onto his belts for his pokeballs but his smile quickly turned into an expression of dismay. His belt was empty and it took a few minutes for the memory to hit him. Of course! He had given it to the old lady for healing.

He had a small memory of her going into a small wooden door at the back of the little inn. He mouthed the words 'Be right back.' to Hark and AJ while running to the back.

The leader of the attacking group shouted orders at his Mightyena who had recovered from it's crash. Mighteyena took after Akito and with a single leap it almost reached him. At the last moment, Akito took a broomstick that he found lying near the wooden door and drove it right into Mightyena's eye.

Akito disappeared into the door and a minute later, when Mightyena recovered from the attack, the door fell down. Akito stepped out with Hercules and Vulcan both angry looking. Hercules smashed the Mightyena with a powerful, close ranged Tackle which sent it back a few steps.

"The battle's on..." Akito mutterred darkly.

Hark looked over at three men and rolled his eyes. He then said to the men, "I am not his friend and I have no interest in fighting you." Hark then took his sunglasses and added, "However if you dare attack me… I will destroy you." When Hark said the word destroy his voice was both serious and threatening.

Hark didn't get a chance to walk off before he got a response from one of the men, "No we will destroy all of you." One of the minions tossed a Pokeball to reveal a Lombre and directed the dull looking creature to attack Hark and AJ. It summoned up a mass of water and spit it out at a high velocity at AJ.

Hark grabbed AJ and yanked him out of the way of the attack and then he then muttered, "The enemy of my enemy is my friend." He looked over at AJ and said, "If you can distract the Pokemon, I'll take down the trainers." AJ nodded, ready to retaliate.

The three unlikely allies began a fight that the Pursuers had not been expecting.
