There are so many water types it's not even funny. =w= I'd get bored of a monotype water...they're so versatile that it makes it too easy.

I'm planning on starting an Ultimate Monotype or three. I just can't decide which type/s xD

I recomend Water or Flying for monotype beginners. Flying has a lot of diversity in second types, so you can have a well balanced team, and Water has a lot of Pokemon, many are available near the beginning, so you don't have to use only two Pokemon up to the 4th gym to get another pokemon of your type. Water also has a lot of diversity.Also,you can use Gyarados in both!

If you want something more challenging use Dragon,Dark, or Ice.

Not hard at all, evolve starter, Pidgey, and one Rattata, and ditch the rest. That's still a nice movepool, regardless of which starter it is (except Bulbasaur, Chickorita, and Treeko, I'm not hatin on them, but they have crappy movepools)

I had this, but with a Charmander, I kept failing against Brock, but with a Squirtle or Bulbasaur it's ok.

@ Syd: Yeah, sure there are a lot of Water Types, but you only have to like a select about 4 of them. And you will like them.

@ Scytha: I'd probably have to say Dragon. Even though they learn a butt-ton of attacks, they level up so slow it's not even funny. So the beginning of the game is super hard.

Charmander is pretty frail until he evolves and gets almost OHKO'd by Rock Tomb.
