Awaiting your arrival to the Indigo Plateau are four of the regions strongest trainers. The Johto League consists of: Will, Koga, Bruno, and Karen.

What were your thoughts on them? Did you have a favorite? Were they even a challenge for you? If so, who? Do you have any memorable battles with these trainers? What did you think about their re-match teams?

I've always liked Koga as a character and a gym leader and I dig his daughter so I think I'd choose him to be most memorable. Karen comes second and Bruno is just. . . Bruno. Although Bruno looks like the most dangerous MMA fighter in the Pok?mon universe though.

I always thought Will was the least challenging. I suppose that has to do with Psychic-types generally having really low defenses. I was hoping they would have changed Karen's team, though I was overly happy with her re-match team. I think she'll always be my favorite.

Out of all of them Karen is my favorite She gave me quite a challenge the first time around But i eventually managed to beat her Her fight was the most rememberable out of all the fights i had in the Indigo Plateau i will always remember her as the first Dark type elite four member that almost managed to beat me

Her rematch team was alright But i acually prefered the first team she had As at this point of the game i had a team full of level 65-70 pokemon and did not really fell the same.

I always respect Karen given that famous quote of hers. She's probably my favourite of the bunch. Even if only 3/5 of her Pokemon were Dark types, haha.

Koga got some cool ninja animations in HGSS to complement his character. Bruno has being in the E4 in gen 1 going for him, but Will I never fond particularly memorable.

I found most of the Johto Elite Four pretty memorable, Karen (who gave me a challenge )and Koga were pretty cool and although I think Bruno is one of the easiest E4 members ever, I always remember them all for some reason or another.

I think the thing that I most enjoyed about the Johto E4 was that Koga got a promotion! It made it feel like the workd was moving along in a way. :) The most engaging of the four was certainly Karen, though. I can't say I really like her- she made me mad and fighty lmao but her character is really well-done!

Karen and her quote, that's for sure!
She's always inspired me to train Pokemon I really love instead of those hyped ones that are really strong up to these days!

I only fought them once, but if I recall, the hardest was probably Koga and his stupid Crobat. Now Lance was a different story, so many retries. To beat lance I had to have my Gyrados one shot the Aerodactyl, then switch between Gyrados and Ampharos, using others for chip damage and meat shields while I healed my mains. At this time my highest was barely level 41(My Ampharos) due to the fact that grinding in Heart Gold takes forever. I even had to resort to using Ho-Oh as it was the only other high level Poke I had.

Only tangentially related but I remember playing Pokemon Stadium 2 and finding out the hard truth that Will is a massive pain in the ass.

Haven't faced the HGSS E4 in a while, and I'm slowly progressing through my journey in my current HGSS playthrough, so hopefully the experience is easier this time!
In-game wise, I've found that if you can't one-shot or cause him to use a Full Restore, Will can be a pretty hard one to deal with. All his moves hit super hard with high base power and not to mention adding STAB on top of that. So I can feel your pain :p

They don't stand out as much to me as the likes of the Hoenn E4, but they're still cool. I like the variety of typing they have between them and Karen is one of my favourite members of any elite four. I always remember struggling with Karen in the originals and that was pretty much the same with HGSS. Rematch teams were pretty tough all round from what I remember, especially since their expanded teams were a lot bulkier to take out with Karen having Spiritomb, Will having Bronzong etc.
