Ultimate Grass Monotype Challenge
Diamond, FireRed, StormSilver (16/16), Emerald, Black 2 (2/8), Y
B2's name theme is... Japanese names or shortened forms (Kuru instead of Kurumiru [Sewaddle]). Also, StormSilver is an ass, making you go all the way through Fuchsia to get to Celadon.

Important Events:
Spoiler:
- Surge informs me to take the Rock Tunnel route to Celadon next, but the Rock Tunnel is on the opposite side of the region.. Which means we're going through Lavender Town.
- Using my sheer instincts (aka a map), I get through Rock Tunnel without Flash
- Lavender bores me, so lets head west to the underground path...
- WAIT THE UNDERGROUND PATH IS CLOSED? HOW THE HELL DO I GET TO CELADON?
- Saffron gate guard tells me to take the "Long way around," at which point I open my map and determine that he means going through Fuchsia and up Cycling Road. Meanies.
- Finally make it to Fuchsia, only to find that it has been taken over by a gang of Shellder and Cloyster. Just grand...
- Smack around a bunch of Cloyster at Janine's request (and catching their Shiny leader), and I am awarded a chance to fight her for a badge. Lovely.
- VS Janine: She leads with my team's worst nightmare, Ariados. Juniper outspeeds and sleeps it and Oak uses Stone Edge. Venomoth comes in next, so I see no reason to switch out a Stone Edging Oak... until it OHKOes me. ****. Elm gets off a Light Screen, and Venomoth still 2HKOes Basswood. Flora, however, does not approve and Shadow Balls it to hell. Pistachio takes out Weezing with relative ease, and a newly Revived Oak defeats Toxicroak. Flora nukes Qwilfish, leaving Janine with just Drapion. I learn from my previous mistakes and put up a Reflect before I send in Oak to commence the beatdown.
- Finally make my way to Celadon, and talk to the guy outside of the gym. All credit to Drayno for giving him his RBYGSCFRLG text rather than the anti-pervert text from HGSS
- VS Erika: Jumpluff comes in to U-Turn every time I KO something, but everyone it switches into (Meganium, Leafeon, Tangrowth, Victrebell) is OHKOed by Flora's Specs'd Sludge Bomb. Eventually, Jumpluff stays in long enough to set up Sun, which is also long enough to take a Sludge Bomb to the face. Knowing Chlorophyll is an ability, I let Basswood deal with Bellossom, which takes longer than it should due to confusehax and Flash spamming.
- Erika informs me that they will FINALLY let me into Saffron, so my next destination is set.
- First priority here is the Magnet Train Pass, so I do that annoying side-quest
- I realize that the more damaging members of my team (Basswood, Oak, Flora) are quickly becoming far overlevelled compared to the more specialized ones (Elm, Juniper, Pistachio), especially Flora, who's Shadow Ball will be a necessity in this gym.
- VS Sabrina: She opens with Gallade's CC, which Elm Reflects. He CCs again as I switch in Flora, and the Spec's Shadow Ball easily takes out a -2 SpDef Gallade. Oak Chrunches Mr Mime. Elm is outsped by Alakazam, who barely misses the KO before Light Screen goes up. Said Light Screen allows Flora to switch into Signal Beam and take a Psychic before OHKOing with Shadow Ball. Hypno and Medicham meet the same fate as Mr. Mime. Wobbufett survives Crunch and Counters, KOing Oak while Basswood shakes his head in disappointment, followed by executing a few nice X-Scissors to earn me the badge.
- Train for Blaine
- VS Blaine: Pista sweeps his first 5, but Magmortar looks to do the same to me until I get Light Screen up, meaning Oak can safely EQ for the win.
- VIRIDAN TIIIIMMMEEEEE
- VS Blue: His Nidoqueen's niche is Toxic Spikes and Roar. Luckily for me, Juniper likes being poisoned and Flora absorbs the Spikes, so I play around that and take out the lead. Gyarados' Bounce chunks Oak, but Elm's Reflect negates that issue and allows him to deal with the Flying type while Aromatherapying Pistachio, who got Poisoned by Nidoqueen. Said Reflect also allows Basswood to eat a Fire Punch and DynamicPunch while KOing Machamp. Oak WOOD HAMMERs Rhyperior, KOing himself in the process. Exeggutor causes lots of problems, KOing Elm and Pista compliments of crits, Sleep Powder, and Trick Room, but he finally misses a Powder on Basswood, allowing X-Scissor to KO. Blue's ace is Tyranitar, who annoys Basswood a bit, but that just pisses off the Eeveeloution, who Crits a Leaf Blade to earn me my last badge.
- Visit Oak to grab Rock Climb, and plan my assault on Mt. Silver
- Of course, said assault on Mt. Silver would require a lot of training. Since the game is so kind as to release tons of high-level legendaries into the wild, I feel no shame in pounding them to the ground for Oak's enjoyment.
- First we grab Heatran, who dies to an EQ. Then do a bunch of stuff and proceed to Mt. Mortar for the next two.
- I quickly raid the place and kill Regirock (EQ again), and am about to kill Jirachi when... Wait, It's offering me sweets rather than a battle? Yummy caaaaandy...
- Said sweets happen to be 100 Rare Candies, which is awesome and feels like hacking. It also removes the need to spend 8 years grinding, so I tell myself to use a "reasonable" number on each party member and get on with my life. I'll do that... later. For now, we go on a Bird hunt.
- Ofcourse, this in theory means defeating Ho-oh, Zapdos, Moltres, and Articuno. According to my handy cheat sheet, I blew the chance to fight Moltres by killing off Heatran, and Articuno and Zapdos are way too far from Fly spots to be of use. This leaves Ho-oh.
- Ho-oh takes more SRs than I expected, but most of them were because I tried to use Thief on it to grab it's Sacred Ash before sending it to hell. I succeed.
- Given how underlevelled I am, my Mt. Silver plot goes something like this: Train as much as we can on the way up, spam Rare Candies at the top. Simple, right?
