I'd really love a hummingbird, and hopefully it'll have some cool evolutions, too! Great to see a little glimpse of what's to come, as small as this.

I didn't realize that it was not a Fletchling! Oh my god. A woodpecker Pokemon is something I would like to see. Do you think it is the regional bird? Or is it more of a starter? I'm getting a Grass-flying type from the concept.

I am hoping for a grass/flying type woodpecker pokemon with an ability like gale wings but for grass type attacks so it can use priority wood hammer (why on my concept it's final evolution has a wooden beak)

Yeah, it seems to be more of a New gen than simply Gen 6.5 like those leaks suggest. We'll get new starters most likely.

You guys, there is a few videos that say that Pokemon Sun and Moon are Hawaii and not Singapore, if this is the case, then the bird pokemon might be based of a Pseudo Cardinal, aka Brazilian Cardinal.

So far it's just speculation. I think it's southern France, some think it's Egypt, others say it's Hawaii, and other Singapore. Besides, the place doesn't always determine the kind of pokémon found in the region based on said place.

Lions use to live in Europe, as well as the U.S., but they went extinct thousands of years ago. I think a better example would be Giant Pandas.

Not all, but they always have pokemon based off native animals of the region as far as I know. The bird types tend to go away from that.

I think it's not a bad design at all. Still curious as to what bird this Pokemon was based on.

The most common guess based on appearance is a woodpecker. It has a crest like most woodpeckers do and the coloration matches that of real life woodpeckers. Another major giveaway is the zygodactyl feet, with two toes pointing forward and two toes pointing backwards, these feet are found in a select group of birds and this bird appears closest to a woodpecker.

Looks like a woodpecker to me, considering the rather prominent beak.
