The Official Shiny Thread

You never know they might have increased the chanse rather then 1:8523 chance of finding one >.< but in reality you did get lucky it would be un-luckey if you eather ran your of Pokeballs or it was hit with recoil xD that happened to me with a shiney well.... now if you think about it its no that funny :( *sob's in corner*
 
No, the rumor is real. Platinum's RNG can be abused to easily find shinies. However, I'd rather not explicitly post the proof or technique, as it would shatter the shiny trading business.

Try looking on Smogon or Youtube. If you don't know what RNG is, well, it's pointless for you to learn now. It's complicated. : D
 
No. Post the data now, otherwise this claim is unfounded and therefore refutable.

Heh, I understand it, so I'll try it for myself this weekend.

I deleted my post, which linked to the video, because shinies should stay rare, but my pride got in the way. :<
 
How do you get shiny legends, but the rate elevation is a rumor. I believe its a lie, i haven't came upon a shiny and i beat the game.

easy way to get shinies (eggs). Is this what your post was about?
It involved a Random Number Generator...

It's an awful lot of work to get a shiny (legit LOL) egg...

I've seen the data on it, but it's on another forum, thus it cannot be linked to from PC.

Basically, people have a program that can figure out the seeding order of Platinum's RNG (random number generator) and tell you the moment to pick up an egg to make it shiny and with a certain nature.

The video tells you to do some coin flips and stuff.

IMHO, I think this isn't real, and the chance is the same as always - firstly, there's no real need for them to change it - they've let there be a way for one to 'work' for it via chaining - so why negate that by making shiny Pokemon easier to get anyway? Doesn't quite make sense.

Plus - rumours such as this have occured before as well, actually - I definately remember long discussion about how it had been lowered in D/P, for instance, because a few people got lucky earlier on.

Of course, if this is based on the random number generator for Platinum and it is different for some reason compared to DP, than maybe it is the case, if one chooses to 'abuse' it via that program and all. But otherwise, generally I'm pretty sure the chance remains at 1 in 8192 by normal means.

@ Thread Opener - congrats with your shiny Pokemon then - luck, really.

RNG is the god of all role playing games. It decides whether your attack hits or not, it decides the amount of damage of your attacks, it can let you live, or it can let you perish. It is, in a way, the over-mind...
