Wattson. He leads Voltorb and I lead Maractus. I start setting up spikes but he Signal Beams. I start switching between Spikes and Giga Drain to keep myself up but I just straight up kill it. This man just doesn't care and sends in Manectric, so now I'm 100% sure it has Flamethrower and as such I switch Clefairy in. It has Flamethrower and a Life Orb. I click Strength as he Thunderbolts and I realize Clefairy doesn't really do anything here so I switch Maractus back in on the incoming Thunderbolt thinking I can certainly live one Flamethrower and Giga Drain it. I can't, Life Orb. So I switch Boldore in cuz Sturdy. Boldore tanks a Thunderbolt and kills with Strength. Then I realize I can't really kill Magneton yet, so I let Clefairy die and land a Hypnosis. Golduck then one-shots it with Aqua Tail because guess what? I too have a Life Orb. Take that, Wattson. In fact, Golduck just sweeps after that.
Wattson was almost easier than Brawly, but in his defense I was pretty overleveled after Burgh and that unfair Colress fight.
Arrived in Nimbasa. Going up against Flannery first, as I believe it's gonna be easier to beat her than Elesa. I lead with Golduck and Aqua Tail demolishes Magcargo. So did Camerupt. So did Houndoom. Magmar outsped Golduck and burned with Will-O-Wisp, so I guess it's not gonna be a sweep. Specially after Aqua Tail missing. Also, it has Thunder Punch and Vital Spirit. I switch Clefairy in to spam Strength but Flannery is a pro player and almost killed on the switch with Cross Chop, but got infatuated to Cute Charm so I managed to Strength twice. Magmar then missed Will-O-Wisp and died to Boldore's Strength. Finally, Torkoal. Torkoal clicked Yawn but got two shot by Strength. Earth Power did bring Boldore to Sturdy, so had it not used Yawn I'd probably have lost. That was Flannery.
Now on to Elesa. I'm ready to lose once or twice to her. I lead with Boldore and set Stealth Rocks because Elesa's likely going to be Volt Switching a lot. Imagine that, she does just that on the first turn into Lanturn. I switch Maractus in on Hydro Pump and after living an Ice Beam, Giga Drain almost takes it out. Which is just perfect cuz Elesa's wasting a Hyper Potion. Second Giga Drain + Needle Arm do kill. She sends in Zebstrika, which I'm sure has a Fire-type move, so I switch into Golduck on Bounce of all things, so it's pretty much a free turn to Psyshock. Bounce paralyzes and Psyshock doesn't kill. So I switch Maractus in predicting a Volt Switch, which does happen into Ampharos. Pretty sure this thing learns Signal Beam. I heal up, and guess what? Signal Beam. So I switch Clefairy in. Time to spam Cosmic Power. Another Volt Switch, this time into Electabuzz. Electabuzz reeks of Fighting-type moves, specially considering Electivire is Fighting-type in Drayano's hacks. I heal up and Cross Chop triggers Cute Charm, so let's hope I manage to Cosmic Power some more. After some turns with infatuations, confusions and Cosmic Powers, I got to max bulk. I only wish Clefairy got STAB from Stored Power. After Electabuzz died, Zebstrika came in and clicked Bounce again for some reason, which was great because I decided to heal up. I take the Bounce and, considering it had no HP left, kill it with Stored Power. Ampharos takes a Stored Power like it's nothing. But Clefairy is Sassy, +6 defenses and holding Eviolite. Emolga was there too. I think this was my first gym battle without any mon fainting. Next stop: Catching Combusken on Route 6!

I planned on catching Combusken and Sableye before fighting Clay, but guess what? I can't. Welp. Anyway, found a Covenant Ore and evolved Boldore into Gigalith.
Now onto Clay. He leads Krookodile which is the best Pokémon ever so that's it, he won, cya.
Anyway, he sets up Sandstorm so I'm already terrified of Ubers Excadrill. I put Krookodile to sleep and click Aqua Tail, hoping he's gonna switch Excadrill in. He doesn't, but a critical hit ends the best Pokémon ever with mercy, as deserved. After that he sends in Nidoking, which of course has Thunderbolt and almost kills Golduck, who puts it to sleep as well. Psyshock murders Nidoking. And in comes Excadrill. I heal up and find out it carries X-Scissor (Golduck is Psychic in this game). After shamelessly stalling sandstorm, I switch Maractus in on Earthquake. This man starts using Swords Dance. Petal Dance does a good chunk and he kills me with X-Scissor, but here's where Gigalith's gonna save me: Earthquake brings me to Sturdy, but Bulldoze murders Excadrill. He sends in Seismitoad as I sack Gigalith to heal Golduck. Hopefully Petal Dance kills both Seismitoad and his next mon. Seismitoad has Rindo berry and lives on 1, but dies to the second. His next mon is Claydol who also lives on 1. Good news, he chokes and clicks Sandstorm, so I can switch Clefairy in to heal Golduck and hopefully kill with Aqua Tail. I end up killing with Psyshock cuz I was afraid of missing Aqua Tail lol.
Clay's team is really strong tbh, but I have 2 resistances to Ground and 2 borderline unkillable mons. And he choked.
Time to catch Sableye and Combusken, say hello to Cornellian and Erza (who just happens to have Speed Boost btw)!
After grinding them both to pair and using some of my Heart Scales on Erza, time to take on Norman (cuz no way I was gonna fight him without my Ghost and Fighting mons just as I was about to get them). I lead with Blaziken as he leads Vigoroth. He Earthquakes but Blaziken lives and High Jump Kicks his face to oblivion. Blaziken is now +1 speed and High Jump Kicks Slaking to oblivion. Then Kecleon. Then Zangoose. Linoone puts up a fight with Extreme Speed, but fails to kill and gets High Jump Kicked in the face. To oblivion.
Poor Norman. I'm honestly happy I couldn't hack Torchic in as my starter, cuz I wouldn't have given it Speed Boost.

First thing first, I was keeping Clefairy unevolved until level 52 so it could learn Meteor Mash but I realized there's no point in doing that cuz it's gonna suck with that move anyway. So we have a Clefable now.
Let's battle Skyla. I lead with Gigalith so I can set my rocks and she leads Archeops. Archeops Head Smashes and deals tons of damage. After setting rocks, it's better to just let it kill itself to recoil so I begin healing up :) btw the second Head Smash crits and takes Gigalith to Sturdy. After Skyla takes a turn to heal up, I click Iron Defense for the giggles. After it Heat Waves for absolutely no reason I click Strength. Head Smash almost kills but Strength destroys Archeops. She sends Gliscor in so I switch Maractus in on Earthquake. As I imagined, Gliscor has no Flying-type moves so after missing Stone Edge it falls to a crit Giga Drain. She then sends in Togekiss, so I switch Clefable in but unfortunately Clefable's debut is short lived. Golduck revenge kills. Skyla sends in Skarmory so I click Surf. Skarmory Roosts and dies to the second Surf. Finally, Swanna. Swanna lands Hurricane and almost kills Golduck, Golduck Psyshocks and almost kills Swanna. I heal up, Swanna lands another Hurricane. I heal up again and she finally misses, so I then Psyshock and boom. Dead Swanna.
After beating Skyla I go straight towards Juan. Juan leads with Crawdaunt and I lead Gigalith again for Stealth Rocks. I then switch in Maractus on the second Crabhammer cuz Storm Drain and start clicking Giga Drain. The man switches in LUVDISC. And clicks Sweet Kiss. Walrein is next and I switch over to Petal Dance, as Maractus is already confused either way so who cares. In comes Kingdra, who sets up Rain Dance as Maractus hits itself. Kingdra's Ice Beam doesn't kill Maractus, but Petal Dance kills Kingdra. His last mon is Whiscash.
MARACTUS SWEEP BOIS!

Right, I finally managed to get started with this! I'd also like to apologise, because I said I had no access to hacking tools, but I searched online and found a way to hack the starter. It took me a while, but I got Taillow as my starter, in replace of Torchic. I know I affected the choosing of the team when I said I had no available hacking tools, and I apologise for that.
But here's my update!
Spoiler:
I got Soar the Taillow (Adamant nature) as my starter, and he swept through everybody until Petalburg Forest. There, I got Portobello the Shroomish (Docile nature), and he swept through everyone in Petalburg Forest, except for the two Nincadas, where Soar had to help out because of the Leech Life.
Upon arriving at Rustboro, Portobello singlehandedly took down Roxanne's Gym (I went to the PC right before Roxanne, though), although the Nosepass was a lot tankier than I expected. I'm glad I set up first with Stun Spore and Leech Seed before spamming Absorb, because I knew Soar would have 0 chance against Nosepass if Portobello fainted. The Nosepass got dangerously close to beating Portobello after she started the battle with a crit Rock Tomb, and I was worried I would not be able to beat her if Roxanne used a potion. Thankfully, she had used them on the Geodudes previously, and had none left. I, myself, busted out a potion, because I was afraid of another Rock Tomb crit taking Portobello out. It, along with Leech Seed and Absorb, topped Portobello right off as the Nosepass was taken out, though.
And that's my first Gym beaten. I know it's not very exciting, but it's my first time doing this and I thought I should do it properly.
Also, it occurred to me I don't have a Cut user, unless I grind Shroomish to evolve into a Breloom at lvl 23, but I'm not too keen on that. I don't think the Cut issue is a massive problem because I believe I don't need it, but I would like the extra xp and items behind the trees. Am I allowed to catch a Cut user and keep it fainted?
I decided I can always teach Cut to someone and go back later on, so I moved on. This time, we're taking on Brawly. But first, I decided to go get myself an Aron in Granite Cave, so I caught one (Relaxed nature) and named her PEKKA, after the Clash of Clans troop.
On to Brawly, Soar went from level 16 to 18 through the Gym trainers, and that was a good level up needed to one shot all of Brawly's Pokemon. His Machop barely survived a hit and used Bulk Up, which meant Brawly would use a super potion and I might get lucky with my next attack and get Brawly to use another. Unfortunately he didn't, and his Meditite was straight up one shot, so I was worried I might struggle with Makuhita.
Upon levelling up to level 19, Soar could learn Double Team. I hesitated a bit with this, as I wasn't sure if I should give him Double Team or not, but ultimately decided to remove Focus Energy for it. Now, on to Makuhita, with I think 2 super potions in the back. I was fairly worried about this. Then Soar just crit one shot Makuhita, so all's well that ends well, I guess! I would like to say Focus Energy gave us its one last boost before retiring permanently, and I thank it.
I think Route 110 May should get a mention, as she is historically a very hard trainer to beat, although I usually don't have much trouble with her... I'll put it in along with the Mauville Gym, so this will be longer. A lot longer, now that I'm done writing!
Third update:
Spoiler:
I caught Rush the Nincada (Quiet nature) at level 6 for the sole reason of using Flash and Cut, so he will stay at Ievel 6 and untouched, no xp or anything. I trained PEKKA up with all the trainers I could find, except at Slateport's beach, where I used Portobello. PEKKA took everyone else out, though, and she levelled up to level 19. Now, she's pretty much on par with the other team members.
On Route 110 is where you meet the infamous Route 110 May. I hope this doesn't sound like I'm bragging, but I've historically never had much trouble with her. Either way, Lordecoxinha chose a great team, with counters for everything May had to throw at me. I was also a couple levels higher, which really helped.
I might have levelled PEKKA up too much, as she is a couple levels over the other two. Portobello is only at level 21, so I probably should have saved some trainers for him so he could evolve into a Breloom, as I'm quite worried about Wattson. I can deal with his other Pokemon, but I've no current answer for his Magneton, as I removed Mud-Slap. I don't think it would have made too much of a difference, though. Either way, there are plenty of trainers around Mauville, and the first evolution has happened!
As for Wattson, he started with Voltorb, and I started with PEKKA. 1 Spark from Voltorb wasn't enough to kill, but 2 Headbutts from PEKKA was, so I just trusted that PEKKA would be able to dodge crits. Thankfully she did, and Wattson sent out his Electrike. As I went to heal, it suddenly occurred to me I had not stocked up on potions. Thankfully, I had 2 super potions, and used 1 to heal PEKKA back to full. A Shock Wave did not do half health worth of damage to PEKKA, so I once again trusted she would dodge a crit, Headbutt to get Electrike into Mach Punch range, then die and let Portobello finish the job. Surprsingly, Wattson opted for Howl instead of another Shock Wave, so PEKKA was able to dodge a crit and take Electrike down. Next was Magneton, so I switched to Portobello, and a crit Mach Punch one shot the bundle of bolts.
Lastly was Manectric. I don't remember the exact moveset it has, but I do know it is definitely faster than Portobello, so I started off with a Stun Spore, then planned on Mach Punching/Giga Draining depending on how much hp Portobello had. Unfortunately, Manectric also paralysed Portobello, so I used a Full Heal (I had a couple, as I won two rounds of Slateport's Battle Tent). On the turn I healed, Manectric was fully paralysed, so I was lucky there. For some reason, Manectric always opted for Quick Attack instead of Shock Wave, so I was also incredibly lucky with that. In the end, I used Headbutt for the win, but Manectric did paralyse Portobello again, and a couple full paralysis on him had me worried.
Ooookay so after a long journey towards Opelucid, I decided to tackle Winona before Drayden. Mostly because I think she's gonna be easier than him. As always, I lead with Gigalith and click Stealth Rock on Tropius, who Sword Dances. As I have Sturdy, I don't really care about it. I didn't even take me to Sturdy, but after Tropius somehow lives Strenght and auto-triggers Harvest, it gets back up to half so I switch Blaziken in on Leaf Blade. It clicks Outrage. I click Flamethrower and kill it. Winona sends in Swellow and I decide to High Jump Kick as Speed Boost has already triggered once. Swellow dies. She sends in Pelipper, but guess who has Thunder Punch? Farewell, Pelipper. She sends in Skarmory and I'm pretty sure Flamethrower won't kill, but Blaziken has already put in much more work than expected in this battle, so I don't mind sacking it. Skarmory dies anyway, thanks to Stealth Rock. Now, Altaria definitely won't get one-shot by Blaziken, right? Yeah, Brave Bird doesn't kill. But neither does her Dragon Pulse, so guess who still wins? Erza is definitely honoring her namesake.
As for Drayden, I once again lead Gigalith cuz Rocks. He leads Zweilous and misses Outrage, thank Hustle. Now that Rocks are up, I just start clicking Strength cuz there's no point in using Iron Defense when I can't touch Flygon. Outrage does tons of damage, thank Hustle, and Strength doesn't do a lot so I'm assuming it's holding an Eviolite. I heal up as it hits itself in confusion, bringing it to red and forcing Drayden to heal up too. It hits itself again and two Strengths do the job. In comes Flygon, as predicted. I switch Maractus in on the Earthquake and Flygon has Fire Blast. Surely it's not gonna land two Fire Blasts in a row, so I click Giga Drain. Fire Blast crits to rub salt in the wound. I then send Golduck in cuz it has Blizzard now as Ice Beam is only obtainable after Drayden and I think Marlon. Flygon somehow lands a third Fire Blast for whatever reason and burns me. Blizzard kills. Take that, Flygon. Drayden's third mon is Druddigon, so I send Sableye in and Outrage crits. Man, these crits. So I send Gigalith in and start clicking Iron Defense, but Outrage only lasts two turns. I heal up and Druddigon hits itself. Druddigon snaps out and Outrages again. Gigalith is now max health and Druddigon is confused again, so hopefully I can win this 1v1 now that Gigalith is taking no damage from Outrage. Time to Earthquake and kill this Druddigon that's already pretty hurt from Life Orb! Ah, Outrage crits. Really. I Blaziken in, High Jump Kick misses. Drayden is hitting Burgh levels of obnoxiousness. Druddigon is now almost dead so Flamethrower kills it. He sends Haxorus in and I'm positive High Jump Kick is gonna miss again. Nevermind, it hits but doesn't kill. Blaziken dies to Earthquake and I send Golduck in for the revenge kill. Haxorus outspeeds and is holding a Dragon Gem, so Outrage kills Golduck. I send Clefable in and Revive Gigalith. Outrage almost kills Clefable so I heal Gigalith up. Haxorus is confused now but that matters not as it almost kills Gigalith with Earthquake. I click Iron Defense cuz hell yeah I'm setting up again. Unless he crits me again, I'm beating this man. Haxorus doesn't hit itself once and he thinks he's smart by clicking Dragon Tail. Well, guess what Drayden? IT WON'T WORK CUZ YOU CRITTED MY ENTIRE TEAM. Haxorus dies to Strength. His last mon is Altaria and it's actually a special attacker so yeah I just wasted 3 turns. Also, it has Cotton Guard. Strength doesn't care it's plus 3. Die, Altaria.
Drayden is not really that strong, he just landed every possible critical hit ever.

I would put what happened at Mt. Chimney, but it wouldn't be very interesting, besides Forge taking one too many Bites and Soar having to tank a lot of Embers while I heal him. There was also a Magnemite that had Magnet Pull and I had PEKKA out front. All of PEKKA's moves were not very effective versus Magnemite, and it knew Sonic Boom. I used maybe 3 or 4 super potions just so PEKKA wouldn't faint, for some reason.
Fourth update:
Spoiler:
After Wattson, I went straight to Fiery Path while dodging as many trainers as possible, as I wanted to use them as xp for the Torkoal I was going to catch. I realised the team was mostly physical attackers, and was planning on getting a +sp atk nature Torkoal, and use it as one of my special attackers. After half an hour of searching, I gave up and settled on a Bashful Torkoal. At least the + is special attack, right? I named the Torkoal Forge, and went to fight the trainers I had skipped.
I levelled up Forge with the trainers before, in, and after Fallarbor, then went and beat up Maxie at Mt. Chimney. After that, I sat in Lavaridge for 5 minutes just listening to the theme, then went to challenge Flannery's Gym.
I got Forge to Body Slam everything in sight, and Ember anything that survived. The reason I did this is because I wanted Flamethrower on Forge, which would be a solid, high damage special move to use. We made it to Flannery, and Forge took out her Numel and Slugma, but I felt bad that Forge was destroying everything so I sent Soar in against Flannery's Camerupt. I'm not sure why I did that, because I knew it would be too tanky and it had high damage output as well. Anyhow, Soar got one shot by an Overheat :/ I can't say I wasn't expecting that, and I'm very annoyed that I wasn't thinking when that happened.
Forge took out the Camerupt, because there's no way I'm sending a Grass type against a Fire type, even though there's a chance Portobello might live a -2 special attack Overheat, and I didn't know if the Camerupt had Magnitude or not, which would destroy PEKKA. I guess that's why I sent Soar out? But I definitely should have just stuck to Forge. Flannery's last Pokemon is, of course, her Torkoal, and I figuerd the best move was just to mirror match it.
I predicted an Overheat, so I used Protect. It turned out to be Body Slam, but that's fine because sun faded and Overheat would deal less damage. Flannery set the sun up again while I used Body Slam, and I realised that because of Torkoal's high defense, it did next to nothing. With sun up and Torkoal's lower special defense, Flamethrower would do a lot more, so I spammed it. However, a couple turns later when both Pokemon were getting low, because Flannery's Torkoal was faster, she managed to hit first and use Overheat to beat Forge. That meant Portobello could swoop in and take the 1000 xp from Flannery's Torkoal, and Lavaridge's Gym was beaten.
The reason why Flannery's Torkoal was faster despite my 1 level advantage might have been because of natures, but Forge was also holding the Macho Brace.
Can I just say I was this close to being beaten by a random trainer in Marlon's Gym. The mad lad has an Agility Empoleon.
So, Marlon. He leads Politoed and has Drizzle, so maybe Clay won't be the hardest gym anymore. As always, I lead Gigalith and click Rocks. He Scalds me and almost kills. After that I switch Maractus in to absorb Scald, triggering Storm Drain. Politoed almost kills with Blizzard, but Giga Drain heals Maractus back up. Politoed somehow lives, which is actually great because Marlon heals Politoed up. Another Giga Drain, another near kill. Politoed uses Perish Song and Maractus kills it. Marlon sends in Tentacruel so I'm switching Maractus out either way. I sack Gigalith (btw Tentacruel has Rain Dish AND Black Sludge) and send Golduck in. Swift Swim comes through and I click Hypnosis. Psychic almost kills, Tentacruel definitely wakes up turn 1 and Sludge Waves. Psychic kills on the second hit. He sends in Jellicent and I switch Clefable in to take Shadow Ball. Thunderbolt deals under half damage, but Scald deals even less. This man is now spamming Recover. So I begin to spam Cosmic Power. I'm now +6 defenses :P two Stored Powers later and it's dead. Carracosta comes in and two Thunderbolts kill it. Next is Ludicolo. Scald deals no damage and I Body Slam it into paralysis. Now I start clicking Stored Power again. Two kill it, despite Leftovers, Rain Dish AND Leech Seed. Clay is still the hardest gym.
Also, how does Marlon swim north after the battle but somehow appears seconds later from the south right outside his gym?
Final battle against Gym Leaders: Tate and Liza. I lead with Gigalith and Sableye and they lead Gothitelle and Reuniclus. I was gonna set Rocks but I realized they only have 4 mons, which is very anticlimactic. For whatever reason Gothitelle Thunderbolts Reuniclus and I'm apparently in the middle of a sibling fight. I double team Gothitelle, using Dark Pulse and Strength. Reuniclus brings Gigalith to Sturdy with Focus Blast. Liza heals Gothitelle up, Shadow Ball almost kills Reuniclus and Focus Blast lands on Gigalith again, killing it. I send Maractus in. Tate heals Reuniclus up as I hit it with Needle Arm and Confuse Ray Gothitelle, who Thunder Waves Maractus for no reason. Next, Gothitelle hits itself, Sableye kills Reuniclus with Shadow Ball, and Maractus Giga Drains Gothitelle. Tate sends Solrock in, which I Will-O-Wisp and Giga Drain. It dies to burn. Meanwhile, they double team Maractus, who is fine now thanks to Giga Drain. Gothitelle Dark Pulses Sableye and flinches it as I start Petal Dancing with Maractus. Dark Pulse doesn't flinch Sableye a second time, so it kills with Shadow Ball. Btw, as Petal Dance had no target, it simply failed without confusion Maractus. Weird. Against Lunatone I use a Cheri Berry on Maractus and Petal Dance it.
They actually have the nerve to say "Oh, our combination failed." And I'm like "Kid, you Thunderbolted your brother turn 1."

Oops. I forgot to put that into the rules. You've probably already done it anyways but yeah, you can use another Pokémon for HM purposes. Even if one of your Pokémon can learn a given HM.
If anyone noticed, I replaced Mach Punch with Rock Smash. In hindsight, this was an extremely bad idea, but back then, I knew I didn't want anyone to have it, and it made the most sense to me to stick it on the Breloom, with STAB and high attack so it wasn't as bad. I didn't want to catch another Pokemon just for Rock Smash, because it seemed like a waste of space.
Well, I changed my mind today, and caught Mischief the Lombre for Rock Smash and Surf temporarily until PEKKA is an Aggron and, later on, Dive, because I don't think I want Dive on the permanent team, although it would be good for dodging moves. I spent quite some time trying to figure out how to hack a Heart Scale in and how to make it so Rock Smash was removable. I managed to make Rock Smash removable, but didn't know how to hack Heart Scales in or how to make a Mach Punch TM, so I gave up and, unfortunately, Portobello still has Rock Smash. :D I'll remove it once I get to Sootopolis, and replace it with Brick Break.
Fifth update:
Spoiler:
Norman's Gym! This was the reason why I wanted Mach Punch back, because it had higher damage and was also a priority move. The trainers were pretty easy, and I mainly used them to level up Portobello and PEKKA, as I would be using them to deal damage and tank. One trainer's Delcatty used Faint Attack on Portobello for no apparent, which made me laugh. Otherwise, there wasn't much else of interest.
Norman led with his Spinda, and I led with PEKKA. Spinda used Teeter Dance, but PEKKA broke through confusion to land a Strength. It did just above half hp, so another Strength would lead to Norman using a potion. On the second attack, PEKKA hit herself in confusion, but her next one was a crit Strength, which beat Spinda.
Norman then went straight into Slaking, who beat PEKKA with Counter after she used Strength.I went into Soar and started to Wing Attack when he was loafing and Double Team when he used Counter. I know nobody like evasion/accuracy moves, but I wanted to play safe, as I had watched JaidenAnimation's Ruby Nuzlocke and I was terrified of Norman. After getting Norman to use a hyper potion, I started chipping away once more. Norman suddenly switched to Faint Attack, which crit and took Soar from full hp to 9. I healed back up, as I didn't want to waste the evasion, and a second Faint Attack hit. It wasn't a crit this time, and Soar finally took down the Slaking.
Norman's penultimate Pokemon was Vigoroth, and Soar stayed in because of the evasion. I didn't actually know they all had Faint Attack, but that was apparently so, as Vigoroth started to use it as well. I healed Soar back up, then Vigoroth hit a Facade, which somehow took Soar down. It might have been a crit, but I don't remember. Portobello finished him with a Headbutt, but not before a crit Faint Attack took him down to 30 hp.
Finally, Norman's last Pokemon was Linoone. I decided Forge should take part, although I was probably biased as Torkoal is actually one of my favourite Pokemon and I probably should have left my favourite Pokemon out of the list, but I didn't :/ Linoone was, of course, faster than Forge and used Belly Drum. That just made Forge's job easier, and a Flamethrower took him out.
May was slightly scary to deal with, as I didn't expect to come to her so quickly, but she was pretty easy to deal with. I was also debating whether to teach Fly to Soar first, or if I should beat Winona first with Wing Attack. I decided to give Soar Fly straight away, because I hoped to dodge some moves. Not sure what moves, though.
Sixth update:
Spoiler:
Winona started off the match with her Swablu, and I had Forge at my first slot. It was supposed to be PEKKA, but I forgot to switch her in so we were going with Forge, I guessed. The first Body Slam took Swablu below half health, while Swablu used Safeguard, and the second took it out. Swablu did use Mirror Move, which damaged Forge, but thankfully it didn't paralyse.
Winona then sent out her Pelipper next, so I switched to Soar, as I wasn't sure what moves Pelipper had and I didn't want to send them against super effective moves. Soar used Fly, and dodged a Supersonic. Fly landed on the second turn, but so did Supersonic. The second turn was pretty much the same, except Pelipper protected on the first turn of Fly, and the second turn took it down.
Winona opted for Tropius next, which had me confused as it was half Grass-type, but I was afraid it would bust out a Thunderbolt or a Rock move, so I switched to Forge. I went for Flamethrower, of course, and Tropius used... Sunny Day? Well, that just made my job easier. Flamethrower was an easy one shot, and now Forge was sun-boosted for the next few turns.
Winona broke out her Altaria, and I considered switching due to Earthquake, but I decided there were no particularly good switches, and sun was too good of an opportunity to let up. Altaria would probably try to start setting up Dragon Dances first, as well. Forge stayed in, and Flamethrower did around 1/3 hp as Altaria used Dragon Dance. Flamethrower also burnt, which had me excited. I knew I couldn't Flamethrower again, as burn would take Altaria down close to healing range, and I didn't want Winona to use a full restore (if she had one). I was afraid she would use Earthquake, so I used Protect. Altaria used Dragon Breath, which is still a good move to Protect against. Burn then takes Altaria to half hp, and I don't want to stall sun out, but at the same time I would like to stall the burn for a couple more turns. I used Iron Defense twice in preparation for if Altaria decided to Earthquake while also stalling the burn, while Altaria used Dragon Breath. I then used a hyper potion to make sure Forge wouldn't die, and burn took Altaria very close to healing range. I clicked Flamethrower one or two turns after sun faded, and Altaria used Dragon Breath. It paralysed and I know if Forge was fully paralysed, Altaria would get to healing range and it would make beating Winona much harder. However, Forge didn't get fully paralysed, and burn finished Altaria off.
Winona's final Pokemon was Skarmory. I would have loved to stay in with Forge, but he was on 27 hp and paralysed, and I didn't want to risk it. Instead, I switched to Portobello, thinking he could do something with Rock Smash, but it did about 1/16 of Skarmory's hp, so never mind! An Aerial Ace also sent Portobello to 9 hp, so he was definitely out. The best Pokemon to switch to was PEKKA, so I went into her and tried to Rock Tomb. 2 Sand Attacks meant 2 Rock Tombs missed, and so I gave up and healed Forge and cured his paralysis, then sent him out once more. Sand Attack didn't affect him because of White Smoke, and one Flamethrower finished the job.

Apart from Heart Scales found as random items, you can steal them off wild Luvdiscs. There's like a 50% chance they hold one, you can farm them for days!

I did a lot of grinding between Fortree and Mossdeep, evolving PEKKA into an Aggron, catching Gwen the Shuppet (then evolving her to Banette), and catching Ebb the Sharpedo. Unfortunately, I don't remember what exactly happened, as I took a 1 week break after that. But, I did just beat Mossdeep's Gym, so I can talk about that.
Seventh update:
Spoiler:
Before I get into Tate and Liza, I caught a Shuppet (Naughty nature) and named her Gwen, after the newest (unreleased) League of Legends Champion. Since Portobello was a bit underlevelled, I used him to beat the trainers at Mt. Pyre and get the Shadow Ball TM. I then taught that TM to Gwen, who proceeded to one shot everyone at sea between Lilycove, Mossdeep, Slateport, and Pacifidlog. I beat every single trainer I could find with her, grinding her up until she was on par with the rest of the team. I also fished for a Sharpedo and finally caught one (Serious nature) and named her Ebb, because I couldn't think of a better name :/.
Unfortunately, there weren't any trainers left for Ebb to fight, so the best I could do was level her up through the Gym trainers. She went from level 32 to level 35, which was fine, I suppose, but Liza and Tate had level 41 and 42 Pokemon. At least Dark type completely resists Psychic type, and I was hoping to absorb some Psychic type attacks with her.
Tate and Liza led with Xatu and Claydol, and I led with Ebb and Forge. I figured Claydol would Earthquake, and I was quite sure Ebb wouldn't be able to take it, so I did a double switch to Portobello and Soar. Claydol did Earthquake, and Xatu started to set up Calm Mind. I then realised they would definitely use a Psychic type move on Portobello, so I switched him out for Ebb and Aerial Ace'd Claydol. To my surprise and relief, they doubled on Portobello's slot, so that was basically a free switch in and some free damage. Claydol was at around 60% hp, and I was hoping Crunch and Aerial Ace would be able to take Claydol down, so I took the risk and it paid off. Soar just barely survived a Psychic from Xatu, as well.
Lunatone came in, and I immediately switched Soar out because he wouldn't survive anything thrown at him. I didn't want to send Gwen in because I think I wanted to level up the rest of the team? I'm not sure. Either way, I refrained from sending her and instead sent PEKKA out. Xatu used Psychic on PEKKA, and Crunch crit and one shot Lunatone, which is great. By now, I realised Xatu probably had no damaging non Psychic type moves, as it had not yet attacked Ebb, which was why I was happy to leave it on the field.
Solrock was last sent out, and I can't remember exactly what happened, but this is roughly what I remember: Ebb used Crunch on Solrock, which triggered Solrock's Sitrus Berry, but also lowered its special defense. I'm not sure if it was Solrock and Xatu that doubled on PEKKA with Psychic or if it was Lunatone and Xatu, but it left PEKKA at around 35% hp, and I used a hyper potion on her. I can't remember what move I used with PEKKA, though. Crunch then beat Solrock, and Xatu used Psychic on a now healthy PEKKA. For its last turn, Xatu used Calm Mind, and Crunch did 45% hp. Thankfully, Rock Tomb was strong enough to finish it off, and Tate and Liza's combination of knowing what each other were thinking was beaten.

After Mossdeep, I went straight for the Weather Trio scene because I love it :D. After that, I didn't bother grinding because I didn't realise Juan's levels were 41-46 (mine were around 41-43).
Eighth update:
Spoiler:
Juan led with his Luvdisc, and I led with Ebb because I had been leveling her up and forgot to switch. Luvdisc was easily taken down with a Crunch, so I guess that was fine. His Whiscash was also quickly beaten by Portobello's Giga Drain, and PEKKA's Iron Tail felled Sealeo. Sealeo managed to get a Water Pulse in and weaken PEKKA, though.
The first three were fairly easy to deal with, then Juan decided to send in his Kingdra. This matchup was dangerous and annoying, as it had Rest and hyper potions to heal, Water Pulse for Forge and PEKKA, and Ice Beam for everything except Gwen and Ebb (although it still two shot Gwen and kept freezing Ebb :/ ). It could also tank hits and set up Double Team.
I, for some reason, did not teach Thunderbolt or Shock Wave or Ice Beam or any super effective TM to anyone, and so it was a pain to take this thing down. I ended up just sending everyone in and using the highest damaging move until it was beat. Because of that move, Forge, Gwen, Ebb, and Soar all fainted, and Portobello finished it off with Mach Punch. A Brick Break finished off the Crawdaunt that was waiting in the wings.
It was a very stupid and clumsy victory, but I made it past and I'm just not going to remember that.
