False, but I combat this by saving before the encounter, then turning off the system if I kill it. Then I can restart at the lake, Red Gyarados still there.

False! In LeafGreen, I ended up catching all of the Legendary Birds with a Poké Ball of their own respective color, so Articuno fell victim to a Great Ball. =3

False, I did with Rayquaza on AlphaSapphire. (To complement my Sapphire caught Rayquaza in a Pokeball. XD)
