The sick bastards... He woke up in considerable pain, but even so, it was manageable. He looked around the cell, and noticed that he kept his cane -- but not his Pokemon. He looked around, and saw a girl sitting near a corner, curled up into a ball. Even though she was in the shadows, her injuries were evident.
He turned towards his cellmate and contemplated making efforts to revive her when another Rocket person stopped in front of the cell and simply started laughing. Saying something about Adrian's useless party, he turned around and left.
It wasn't long until another Rocket showed up with this massive, angry-looking Dragonite. He looked straight at Adrian, but he didn't give a flying Rattata's turd about the guy. He didn't give half a one about the Dragonite either. It was likely there just for security.
Instead, his gaze was fixated on the syringe the man was holding. "What do you want?" He managed to respond, ready to give him hell with his cane. "You here to torture me like you did to this girl?"
The man laughed. "We don't damage our valuable prisoners -- often. Besides, I don't like torturing cripples or handicaps myself anyway. No sport in it when they're strong enough not to scream... and you're pretty damn strong."
He lifted the syringe and made sure Adrian saw the thing in its every detail. "I honestly have no idea how you managed to stop my Venusaur's Solarbeam, or take an all-out Thunder attack from my Jolteon and actually live to tell the tale. But in this day in age, I've sort of stopped trying to go after the unexplainable. I simply respect strength, and follow those who have the most of it."
He stepped forward, and Adrian found himself stepping back. The man kept his grin. "You see, I have great respect for you, as do my superiors. They saw what you're capable of. We just thought we might step in and help a fellow out. So you see, there's nothing at all for you to worry about."
"What about the girl?" Adrian found himself standing up to this person for some inexplicable reason. Was it the helpless person sitting nearby, or the fact that he hated this person for his sheer lack of honor?
"She's of little consequence." He took another step closer, and so did that hulking Dragonite. "Oh, and this whole idea about giving you this shot while you're still awake wasn't my idea. Neither was keeping your stuff on you, but my betters seem to really want you to stick around. Either that, or they've got a terrible sense of humor. Now just hold on a bit..."
He raised his cane to strike the man, but he felt the Dragonite tear it loose from his hand and toss it to the side. The next thing he knew, he felt a pain in his arm, and then the world went black.
