Golem and Rhydon were excellent competitive candidates in Gen I who could effectively stop Zapdos in it's tracks.
Watch out for Starmie, Lapras, and of course, the Blizzard King; Tauros.

Sure. Originally disliked it because of endless Geodudes and Gravelers. Viewed it more favorably with time (thanks to the rarity of actually seeing Golem). Might be how Golem uses its body like a turtle. Shrugs.

Rapidash should totally evolve into an alicorn someday.
Winged unicorns existed long before MLP, so you there's very little to worry about with trademarks and all.
