In the Golden Boys manga, Falkner befriended an Articuno and used it in his Gym battle against Gold. I can get behind Noland using one because it's the Battle Frontier and everyone uses Legendaries there, but in a Gym battle? No way.

...or maybe I'm just biased because I like Noland a lot and dislike Falkner, lol.
