If you have the save file for Let's Go, Pikachu/Eevee while playing Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl, you can always acquire Mew for free from an elderly couple in Floaroma Town.
Jirachi can also be obtained from them if you have the save file for Sword/Shield.

I don't hate Chikorita. I feel bad for it that its line falls short competitively. I'd give it more coverage moves, a better HA, and Meganium a secondary typing.

In BDSP you can catch the Johto starters in the Grand Underground, in postgame.
Personally I hope to see them return in gen 9, along with the gen 5 and gen 6 starters. If not on release than in DLC would be fine too.
