It is tough to use until it reaches Level 40, but it is well worth the wait and difficulty spike when you attach the Eviolite to it.

Just stay away from flames, though.

This pokemon does highlight one problem I have with gen 5. Some pokemon take forever to evolve. Sure it is worth it for several, but I feel like Game Freak was really pushing it.

Fortunately, there are many QoL ROM hacks in which their evolution levels are lowered. Some of them even have EXP trainers (looking at Renegade Platinum and Blaze Black 2/Volt White 2 Redux here).

In gen 5 Ferrosneed learns moves like rollout and metal claw early on. Including gyro ball at 21. It doesn't gain iron head until 43 however, that is changed in later gens. The fact that it learns self destruct at level 38, 2 levels before evolving, seems like Game Freak is trying to tell the player something.
