I actually like Brambleghast because of wind rider and its base 115 phys. atk. Compared to Trevanant, another grass/ghost, Brambleghast has more phys. atk. by 5 points and is also much faster at a base 90 compared to Trevanant's base 56.

Brambleghast lacks a good physical ghost STAB. Not having access to shadow claw means it has to rely on poltergeist, and that relies on the opponent holding an item. Plus it has only 5 PP and a 10% chance to miss.

I find it a very distinct design to Sprigatito though, not everybody can be top-tier competitively; but at least it's going for something different then the legions of flower inspired Pokemon.
