    The Sangyo Region

    Welcome to the Sangyo Region
he region of Sangyo is a relatively new region with a difficult past…
Not too long ago the region was split and at war with itself. West and East Sangyo had both been enraged and each side was ready to destroy the other each holding in their possession hundreds of warheads and millions of soldiers. When all seemed lost the leaders of each side were asked by a mysterious organization to meet in the old capital building of the region on June 13th. But before we get into that lets go over the history of Sangyo.

    Before the war...

Back before the split of modern day Sangyo the entire region was under an Absolute Monarchy where King Hotaru held all the power. Hotaru meant to "share" the success of his region with the entire world and prepared to invade the neighboring nations. Several officials on the east side of Sangyo disagreed with him and began meeting in secret.

Months passed but on the 17th of August Hotaru was to officially declare war on the neighboring regions. That day Hotaru died in his sleep. Nothing was ever uncovered about his death but the rumors soon spread that the officials in the east murdered their king.

On the 18th of August the next ruler was to be crowned, but the ceremony would spark the first stages of war. When the time came for her to be crowned Lady Ginchiyo refused and expressed how the crown would always belong to her father…a coward. The audience was shocked as she exclaimed that she, herself would forge herself a crown of gold and transform the puny region her father once thought to be so great to an Empire the world would fear. The officials took this time to speak up, Lord Yansan stormed onto the stage exclaiming how this was not how a leader should act and that the people themselves should contain the power to make the decisions and have a say in government. "While the King filled his belly, his people starved. And now our Queen wishes to further tax us? To use what belongs to the people for her own crown? When will we speak up citizens? When will we have our…" Yansan never finished his speech as Ginchiyo slammed her dagger in his heart. With their leader dead the Eastern Officials left in a hurry including Yansan's wife, Lady Yukiko. This was the day when the unrest began as people around the country began rioting. The damage was immense and with Lady Yukiko and her wisdom missing the region was thrown into chaos.

On the 1st of September soldiers marched from the capital city through West Sangyo meeting any riot or form of protest with force. East Sangyo never took it as hard. There were few riots but the unrest from the West worried many. Within the following week Lady Yukiko stood in front of the Capital Building announcing that East Sangyo would no longer obey the commands of Lady Ginchiyo. The response was immediate. Thousands of soldiers stormed the Capital building but Lady Yukiko was already gone. With the announcement made the army, the cities, and the region itself was split. Lady Ginchiyo was to represent the West. And East Sangyo elected Lady Yukiko as their leader. The war had begun…

    The War

After the events at the Capital Building in September both Lady Ginchiyo and Lady Yukiko ordered weapons to be produced from every factory on their side of the boundary. Thousands of bombs, missiles, and guns were created, for one purpose, to destroy the other side. Lady Ginchiyo used propaganda and intimidation to draft soldiers from every city in West Sangyo.

In East Sangyo Lady Yukiko held press conferences and made public speeches speaking about the hardships that they would face and the many deaths that the war would cause, however she stressed what winning this war might mean. Independence, civil rights, a new government and balance. However there was no draft in East Sangyo, people began signing up and Lady Yukiko's speeches proved to be an effective incentive to obtain more soldiers. In the end both sides were equally met with warheads and soldiers.

The first battle began at the capital. When the region split into two sides so did the capital. A wall was constructed straight down the middle of the city where neither from each side was allowed to cross. Then in the cold winter days of December, West Sangyo stroke. Six Planes departed from a nearby city on December 17th and set coarse for the Eastern Capital. Five planes dropped bombs on scattered parts of the city wreaking havoc everywhere they went, the sixth plane crashed into the Central Government building. The attack was short and quick but the damage was immense. Thousands of people killed in the wreckage and many more injured. Tensions where high and the East would no longer sit idly by while the West took its citizens lives.

On December 18th "The Andreas" was fired, a nuclear warhead with the power to destroy an entire city. The warhead was planned to hit the western city of Sutong. "The Andreas" hit 53 miles away from the city killing over 50,000 people and injuring over 100,000. One month later West Sangyo sent its orders to the navy, that the fight would be brought to the sea. West Sangyo's Navy far outnumbered the Easts and for four months decimated its ships and launched countless missiles at its trading ports. East Sangyo needed supplies, funds, and soldiers. They searched out for help offering anything they could. But no region would help in a civil war calling it "A battle of ambitions". East Sangyo was on its own. After launching two nuclear warheads and ordering countless missile strikes both sides seemed to be at a stalemate.

In mid-may Lady Ginchiyo made her decision. She would end the war swiftly by not only bombing the East and invading its cities….But by using pokemon to fight their way in. The news spread quickly, and many awaited the response of Lady Yukiko, however, before a statement could be released the nations came to an agreement. No region would trade with either side of Sangyo until peace was achieved. Sangyo seemed helpless, millions were lost, materials were scarce and both sides where highly in debt. All seemed lost until June 13th…

    June 13th

While the war was raging and both sides seemed to be crumbling from the inside out the leaders of both sides failed to realize a team rallying the citizens for a new order…

On June 13th a two ambassadors entered the East and West sides of Sangyo. They called upon the leaders to meet at the old capital building in the name of peace. Although each leader was reluctant to go the people spoke out, the war was becoming too much and with both sides at a loss of what to do there was no other options. As the leaders approached both accompanied by armed guards a man several guard dressed in odd uniforms met them and ordered they leave their guards outside. With both complying the guards escorted them to the old capital building, a place that hadn't been used in months. Once at the entrance no guards entered the building saying there was only one person at the top floor who wished to meet both of them as quickly as possible. The two leaders glancing wearily at each other entered the structure not sure what the next hour would hold.

However the meeting was brief, thirty one minutes had passed and both leaders exited the building, together. They announced that the war was over and that Sangyo would be one once again. Questions were asked, but no answers where given. Both Lady Ginchiyo and Lady Yukiko left as quickly as they came. The uniformed men left in helicopters however there was no one else seen exiting the building. Although the events of the day are strange present day people celebrate June 13th as a day that ended suffering and the tale itself was lost to time…

    Present Day Sangyo

In the present day, Sangyo is known as an extremely industrialized land.
Religion although tolerated is not encouraged and religious structures are scarce. Many people have grown to accept what happened on the 13th but many East and West Supporters wish to see the region divided again and groups are beginning to sprout up all over the region threatening to split the region apart once again...

"The region is growing into a superpower, industrialized cities have begun sprouting up all over the region, rebuilding of severely damaged cities has begun and the capital is finally rebuilt to its former glory."

"Technology here is more advanced than ever, many corporations have grown so large as too expand into other regions."

The overall government of the region is a Constitutional Monarchy where Potentate Koichi resides as a figurehead and the Council of Seven. The council is made up of seven councilmen and women elected by the people collectively.

    Towns and Cities

Hajimari Town is a small town located in the south east of Sangyo. The town stayed neutral during the war and was unable to trade with either side during it. Since then many people located here have begun farming, and using wind energy, at an attempt to one day create a "self-sustaining" city.

Yuchester Town is one of the larger towns in Sangyo, the town is known for housing PokéLabs Inc. and The Institute.

Minari City is the third largest City in Sangyo. The city is known to be one of the two first cities to begin the industrialization process. It is home to many factories and businesses and is the go to place for shopping in the region.

Kuzusunai City was built up by Mr. Attace of Attace Animatronics Inc. This former small town was funded by Mr. Attace during the rebuilding of Sangyo. Present day the entire city is modernized with technology from moving sidewalks, to specialized battling arenas. Thanks to Attace Animatronics Inc. the city is now one of the most visited by tourists.

Asakumo City is one of the oldest cities in Sangyo, it was constructed around a large forest now named Seishin Forest, in the honor of the spirits that are rumored to inhabit it. The forest still stands today, however recently walls have been built up around the forest and no one has entered since.

Mizazukai Island is thought to be once part of Sangyo, the island is rumored to have moved due to a Tsunami in the early years of the region. It is thought that the island is home to the pokemon Cresselia and Darkrai and in respect to Cresselia and of fear of Darkrai many people have left the island. Other attempts at industrializing the island were made, only 2 years ago Attace Animatronics Inc. built a factory on the island in hope of establishing a city with many jobs. 3 days after the opening the factory mysteriously blew up. No one was present and there was no fatalities.

Catinna Town: A small town located in the most northern part of Sangyo. The town has been separated from society for many years, with little interaction.

Shihon City is also known as the capital of Sangyo, and the largest city in the region. It was originally destroyed by air strikes during the days of the war it has slowly been rebuilt thanks to the efforts of the council and Potentate. Although the city is rather large it houses no pokemon gym but contains a unique assortment of malls, factories, skyscrapers as well as The Capital Building where all official government business takes place.

Pommingham Town: A rather large town that seems to be making itself into a city. Although it was slower to industrialize the town is home to many of the regions brilliant mines. It also is home to Sopitopa University, one of the top universities in the region.

Homming Town is a small farming town in the north-western part of Sangyo. Although small this town provides most of the organic food for the region.

Inoyama Town is an old fishing town in the western part of the region. Although built on the water the town tends to get very little trading from its ports.

Tule City is the second largest city in the region. It houses the regions power plant complex as well as Solar Power Industries. A relatively new company making an effort to convert the region to clean energy.

Miyakanai City is a rather small city compared to others, it used to be an old mining town when Sangyo was still being built up but has long closed its mines and diverted its focus to technology. It is home to several communication companies as well as Telefone Co.

Cannaby City is a city with a rich history. Long before the war when the region was first settled many settlers built their homes here due to its deep waters surrounding it enough that large ports could be built. With Miyakanai Town so close people could send over anything mined there to other parts of the world. Today Cannaby Town is still the regions main port for importing and exporting goods as well as the go to place for sea transportation.

I really like this dex so far, it feels fairly diverse, and it has some great pokemon in it. The story itself seems interesting too.

Can't turn down a region that was once led by two Ladies.

    Name: Retro
    Trainer Class: Water Gym Leader
Pokémon (team 1): Clauncher, Lanturn, Gyarados, and Carracosta
Pokémon (team 2): Clauncher, Chinchou, Gyarados

Wasn't sure if the placement in the order signified if I was meant to have second gym level Pokemon or anything.

  • Let's see, did the old factions have coats of arms or any Pokémon to represent them? The emblem could show both sides.
Otherwise it seems technology is important, so what about industry or a complex device?

The emblem doesn't have to be pixel art, a much larger image can be resized too to 80×80 pixels.

Yeah, like Lyncanthropy said, it doesn't have to be pixelart. Emblems can be regular images that are resized into the size limit.

With that being said perhaps the emblem could have some historical meaning that relates to present day? Maybe something to do the once divided country now whole again... Or since it's heavily industrialized something that deals with what they use technology-wise.

We could always think of something that you don't have listed and create lore around it as well.

Hmm possibly if not that then maybe them themselves?

Ah yes thats my fault haha i must of meant that if i were to make the emblem it would be pixel art but if someone can do that we could definately use it!

As for the idea i like it i dont exactly have a coat of arms or pokemon but i think if we had one for each side thatd be cool so ideas for this are definately open and i love the idea!

Yep and we can use a regular image is someone knows how to make them ^^
I thought maybe the emblem could have like a half crack between the center or something and on the top half that was cracked have the "symbols" of each side before and on the half thats not cracked have the present day regions "symbols" or art representing it maybe.

Thats what id like im open to suggestions for that i think a coat of arms for each would definately be cool!

Welcome Jatin! Ill add you asap feel free to join in on the discusion we are just talking about what we should do for the first global event :D

    Updates
When we do create the emblem for the region we will also be creating emblems for the past east and west parts of the region. To add to this i have created sections on the history of each which i will begin working on in depth now. Id like to know some other thoughts on this as well while continuing the discussion of creating the regional emblem. So emblems for the east and west what should they look like? Other thoughts on the regional emblem? And any volunteers for creating emblems?

It's not that hard to resize an image, especially if you have Photoshop. Pretty easy.

The way you're thinking about it seems... incredibly complicated, ha. It's an 80x80 image we don't want to squeeze a lot stuff on it otherwise it'll just look messy and overdone. At least to me, maybe other people think something else.

I think the image should be whole (aka not cracked) and be symbolic of both of the regions coming together. The crack (to some) will represent separation and I think it would better to show togetherness through symbols of the west and east together and not a part.

So, we're making three emblems in total? One for West, one for East, and one for the present? Okay, sounds interesting. I don't have any problem adding to the discussion. If it's just resizing an image I think I could do that but if it's more in-depth like pixel art I have no clue how to do that. Once we decide on what exactly we're doing I make sure to note whether or not I can create the emblem.

But of coarse you have to create the image which would be the harder part haha.

Probably but i understand your idea which is why i rather everyone give alittle feedback and we can come up with a design. Im honestly a terrible artist :3 so whatever you guys agree upon will likely be the best emblem for the region :D

Yes 3 in total but the only one that has to be created like right now is the present one for the region in general then after that east and west. Ya i think thats best as soon as we decide what we are doing someone can step forward and help a bit :)
