The Ultimate Monotype Challenge

Just out of curiosity, am I allowed to hack in one Water type Pokemon at the start of my challenge on Yellow? The only two I can obtain before the 3rd Gym is Magikarp and Squirtle.

No. I had to use only those two until I got the Super Rod in my Blue Water monotype. I won't make you use the Magikarp until Squirtle because that's just cruel, you can use your Pikachu to try and raise it's level. I was able to have a Gyarados before Misty though just using experience in Mt Moon and some grinding outside of Cerulean.

Second Update!

- Levelled Casper and Nyx up to Lv 26.
- Decimated May (OHKO)
- Moved on to Mauville City and trained against the trainers and whatnot in the local area.
- Beat Wattson (fairly easy with Nyx)
- Travellled to Fallarbor Town then to Metoer Cave then back to Mt Chimney jsut doing plot-line stuff and smashing trainers.
- Beat team Magma. Piece of cake.
- Flannery (in my opinion, easiest leader of the game) was quickly destroyed.
- Currently training in the Desert to the East of Lavaridge Town.

Righto. After beating Roxanne and retrieving the Devon Goods, I went straight to Dewford and challenged the gym right away. Nincada and Beautifly got their asses kicked by Brawly, so I figured I'd go train in the cave next to the town. I grinded them both up to level 20, where Nincada evolved and provided me with my third team member, Shedinja. I then went to town with Shedinja and won my second badge. Brawly really ought to consider some coverage.

After defeating Brawly, I headed off to Slateport, chased Team Aqua (or was it Team Magma?) out of there, made my way to Mauville, where I caught myself a Volbeat. Then I cheated a bit to get my hands on a Surskit - I checked out the rules, and rule #10 lets me do it, seeing as I'm playing on an emulator, and I can't really mix records with Ruby or Sapphire. So I hacked myself a low-level Surskit and went to do some grinding and threw every single Pokédollar in the Game Corner to get myself a TM13. After some grinding, I took on Wattson. His Magneton took out every single one of my Pokémon - except Shedinja, which then easily took care of the rest of his team. Right now, I'm at Meteor Falls, having just chased Team Magma out.

★ Defeated Brock and obtained my first Water Pokemon for the challenge, Magikarp!
★ After what felt like the longest grinding session of my life, I trained Magikarp from Level 5 to Level 20 evolving it into a Gyarados!
★ Defeated Misty single handedly with my newly evolved Gyarados
★ Reached Vermillion City and Got HM01 Cut from the SS. Anne
★ Defeated LT. Surge and picked up Squirtle who will be my second team member for this challenge!
★ Headed through Rock Tunnel without Flash and reached Lavender Town
★ Reached Celadon City where I picked up Eevee and a Water Stone, evolved Eevee into Vaporeon making my team into a party of three!
★ Sorted out the business at the Rocket Game Corner in Celadon as a method to levelling up Vaporeon to be on par with the other two team members
★ Defeated Erika with help from Gyarados and Vaporeon and saved at this point

Update for Monotype Water on FireRed! I've decided to turn it into an ultimate challenge. Should I make a whole new sign-up form or should I just add it in here? Anyway, on to the update!

You don't have to do a new sign up, I'll just move you to Ultimate when I update.

-I start the game, and name my guy Noah, because that's my name.
-I enter the world, and exit the moving truck.
-I enter my house, and there are Vigoroth everywhere.
-I go upstairs, set the clock, and head back downstairs.
-I enter May's house and go upstairs.
-May comes, and she talks to me.
-I head to the lab, but the professor isn't there.
-I see a hillarious scene of the professor being chased by a Zigzagoon.
-I choose Torchic, and battle it.
-I just Scratch the thing until it faints.
-The professor takes me to his lab.
-He lets me keep the Torchic.
-I go to Route 101.
-I reach Oldale Town.
-The lady takes me to a Poke Mart and gives me a Potion.
-I go onto Route 103 and talk to May.
-May battles me, and it's a Scratch-Tackle-Scratch battle.
-I win, though, and I head to the lab.
-Birch gives me the Pokedex.
-May gives me the Poke Balls, and I leave the lab.
-I go to route 101, but first Mom gives me Running Shoes.
-I reach Oldale Town, then turn left to Route 102.
-I reach Petalburg City.
-I enter the Gym, and I am forced to help this Wally guy.
-He catches a Ralts (man, i'm jealous, I'm not allowed to)
-Well, I don't end up battling my dad, so I head to Route 104.
-I enter Petalburg Forest.
-I battle the Aqua Grunt.
-I win, and head out to Route 104.
-I make it through, and head into Rustleboro City
-I head in to the Gym.
-I battle Roxanne.

• Proceeded to Violet immediately after the first rounds of nonsense talking with Elm, Mr.Pokemon, Oak, the police, my mom, and Lyra.
• Conquered Sprout Tower.
• Defeated Falkner earning the Zephyr Badge.
• Got Togepi Egg although it is a nonsensical Pokemon now.
• Caught a Wooper AND a Tentacool. Named them Gooby and Tentanerd respectively.
• Delayed Flood's evolution until level 20 where he learns Ice Fang.
• Started training Gooby.
• Saved the Slowpokes in Azalea. Saved in front of Kurt
