Religion: I think it can most definitely have a positive influence on people, and my Muslim faith is important to me. However, I think that religion should stay out of politics - after all, the bad things that were caused by religion were caused because it was brought into politics. Religion's influence is much better when kept out of politics.
____________________
Homosexuality: I think homosexuality is natural and it should definitely be tolerated. My family isn't exactly sympathetic to the idea, but I think gay people have rights too.
Gay Rights: I support them. Knowing gay people has helped me support them.
Polygamy: I oppose it. It's legal where my family comes from (and being from the Muslim community, I've seen it happen). I think it's outdated and ridiculous.
Censorship: I think there's way too much censorship. We really need to lighten up on it.
Prostitution: I think it's awful. A lot of prostitutes are trafficked and live in poverty. Plus people can get STDs due to the unprotected sex.
Gambling: I think gambling is a waste of money and can lead to a lot of problems.
____________________
Institutionalized Education; is education a positive institution?: I think education works pretty well for the most part. Most schools do it good, though they can be a bit restrictive. Homeschooling can work sometimes.
Abortion: I'm opposed to abortion except in cases of rape or to protect the life of the mother.
The Death Penalty: I'm pro-death penalty.
Gun Control: I think we should control guns more. Too many people are getting murdered.
Corporal Punishment: Opposed to it.
____________________
Genetic Engineering: Opposed to it.
Stem Cell Research: Opposed to it.
Animal Experimentation: I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand, it's better than human experimentation; on the other it's kind of cruel.
Vegetarianism / Veganism: I don't believe in vegetarianism and especially not veganism, but I respect those who do. Me and most of my friends are meat-eaters.

I'm a very divided person on most topics.

OK so here are the results! You'll need to click on each one for the actual results because uploading and saving the images was far too much effort after I went to the trouble of collecting all that data lol. This is out of the 29 people that participated. If anybody forgot to put something into a category, I automatically placed it in the "impartial" column.

Abortion
Alcohol
Animal Experimentation
Animal Rights
Censorship
Cloning
Corporal Punishment
The Death Penalty
Euthanasia
Gambling
Gay Rights
Genetic Engineering
Gun Control
Homosexuality
Institutionalized Education
Intelligent Design
Marijuana Legalization
Marijuana Use
Polygamy
Pornography
Prostitution
Religion
Spirituality
Standardized Testing
Stem Cell Research
Steroids (non-medical use)
Tobacco Illegalization
Tobacco Use
Vegetarianiam / Veganism

So, here are some of my observations:

  • Abortion is still a very divisive issue. It was neck-and-neck between support and oppose throughout the entire collection process until support for a woman's right to choose nudged ahead near the end.
  • People really don't like censorship.
  • The only thing that didn't even get one opposition vote was gay rights, and homosexuality had the second highest amount of support. This tells me that either PokeCommunity really is down with the gays, or they're too scared to say otherwise. Either way, it's a positive step forward for the world.
  • It's really not a good time to murder somebody. Only 28% of people are opposed to the death penalty, whereas the other 72% either want you to die for your sins or just don't give a crap about your walk down death row.
  • More people support euthanasia than religion.
  • 52% of our PC sample group are opposed to polygamy. What... a bunch of prudes.
  • 59% of people claim they are impartial to pornography. My guess is they actually support it but don't want to admit that they use it.
  • The exact same number of people support, oppose and are impartial to tobacco use and tobacco illegalization.

just some notes

Alcohol
I see nothing wrong with Alcohol, I enjoy drinking a little myself.. just as long as you don't do silly things under the influence of alcohol.. like driving. If you drink responsibly, it's all good.

Intelligent Design
I believe that there was a higher power behind the creation of the world.

Religion and Spirituality (Irrreligious only)
I have no problem with either of these, you can believe what you want. Just please don't push it into people's faces. Religion can have a positive affect on people, but it can be abused in some cases.

Standardized Testing
I think it may produce fairer results, depending on the situation... I mean, sometimes I guess it's the opposite, but generally, I think this is a good thing.

Wow, looks like I'm opposed to a lot of things...

Abortian, The Death Penalty, Euthanasia
I'm opposed to these three because I believe that everyone has a right to live. In regards to the Death Penalty, I'm undecided, at the moment I am against it, but I haven't ever been in a situation where I think anyone would need a death penalty.. I'm not sure. Euthanasia, I don't believe in killing people, I understand that some people will be in a lot of pain and killing them may seem easier, but, especially if the person cannot tell you if they want to die themselves, I believe it's wrong to kill them on this basis.
Abortion.. well.. I'm one of those people who believe that a baby is always alive (as a fetus and such), and I believe that abortion is actually murder. And, since I'm against killing, I'm against abortion.

Animal Experimentation
I find experimenting on animals just wrong and abusive.. simple

Corporal Punishment
I don't like hurting people.. and I don't think things like flogging and such is right..

Gambling
Well, it doesn't really take a genius to figure this out. It is your own choice, but I'm against it, as I see gambling your money as silly. It's rather likely you'll just end up losing your money (unless you are a very lucky person).

Gay Rights / Homosexuality
Gay/homosexuality... this is a very touchy subject.. I don't see homosexual acts as morally right, or natural. But I also believe that everyone deserves their rights.

Genetic Engineering
Again, not natural, not cool..

Institutionalized Education
I'm against this purely because of what they're doing in Australia. They're making it so even the homeschoolers have to follow the 'government-approved' educational program. Soon, we'll have to be using the exact same books and programs as the school. Which kind of defeats the purpose of homeschooling, at least in my family's case, because we use different programs from the school.

Marijuana Legalization / Marijuana Use / Steroids
I'm against drugs, so yeah..

Polygamy
I think that marriage should just be between two people, marrying multiple people seems unfair and weird.

Pornography / Prostitution
I think that sexual actions should perform between a man and his wife.. so paying someone to do it with you seems wrong, and I personally wouldn't ever watch pornography, but each to his/her own. I also see it as morally wrong, and I don't think prostitution should be legalised.

I am impartial to

Animal Rights
Censorship
Cloning
Evolutionary Theory
Gun Control
Stem Cell Research
Tobacco Illegalization
Tobacco Use
Vegetarianism / Veganism

just some notes

I'm impartial to all these things because I am either ignorant to them, or I honestly don't care.

I don't believe in evolution, but I don't know enough the Evolutionary Theory about it to be against it, and to be able to argue against it. Hence why it is under this category. I also don't know anything really about Stem Cell Research, or Cloning.

There is gun control here in Australia, but I can see the cons and pros of gun control.

I see no problem with vegetarianism or veganism.. each to their own.

Tobacco, some people use it, some people don't. I personally don't, and I never will smoke,

I love that people are starting to post in this thread again and I encourage as many people as possible to do so, but just saying... if anyone is expecting me to re-collect or update the data with the new entries, you can forget it :P

Gay Rights: Seems like common sense to me. Nobody should be treated unequally just because of what gender they prefer.
Standardized Testing: I think there needs to be some way of assessing how well schools are educating people. Otherwise how would you know which schools are the good ones and which ones are the lousy ones?
Death Penalty: Simple: some people are just unredeemable, and particularly heinous crimes need to be punished with the death penalty as a deterrent.
Evolutionary Theory: No reason to be against the most well corroborated and extensively proven theory in all of science.
Marijuana legalization: There's no reason for it to be illegal, and it only makes things worse. Even if you're against the use of marijuana, you should still be in favor of legalization. You have two choices: people easily obtaining marijuana, or people easily obtaining marijuana and the existence of a multi-billion dollar un-taxed, un-regulated black market. Take your pick.

Gun control: Another no brainer for me. There's no reason responsible gun owners shouldn't be allowed to own guns. Gun control is essentially punishing people who have done nothing wrong for the actions of a few, which I'm against no matter what it is. Besides, in my country we have a Constitution prohibiting gun control.
Tobacco Illegalization: See my point on marijuana legalization and gun control.
Censorship: There's never any justification for censorship. If there's something you don't want to hear, then don't listen. If there's something you don't want other people to hear...then you're a control freak who needs to chill out.
Tobacco Use: Tobacco's gross. And it smells gross. I don't think it should be banned or illegal or anything, but if you're going to smoke, then not in my house.
Animal Experimentation: I love animals. I know it has its advantages and I know a lot of products that I use probably wouldn't exist if they didn't use animal testing, but still I wish there was some other way... :(
