[PokeCommunity.com] The Voice's Christina Grimmie Dead at 22 After Being Shot at Concert

Singer Christina Grimmie has died at 22 years old.

"It is with a heavy heart that we can confirm that Christina has passed and went home to be with the Lord," her publicist tells E! News.

"She was shot at her show in Orlando and, unfortunately, didn't survive the gun shot wounds. We ask at this time that you respect the privacy of her family and friends in their time of mourning. If you'd like to give back to Christina's family in her memory, please consider donating to the families GoFundMe page in their time of need."

    *************

Some of you may not be fans of The Voice, i'm not so much of a fan of it either, but I always love musical talent.

I feel saddened with the fact that talented individuals such as her had to be lost. This is making me feel so angry and so sad at the same time. Just last month, an idol (Mayu Tomita) gets stabbed during a fan meeting, then here we have a singer get shot after her show in Orlando. I feel...angered and disgusted that people, whether they are anti-fans or some jerks in people's clothing exist to attack people like that.

Yet another senseless, tragic death in America. I don't want her murder to become just another quoted statistic in an endless gun control argument, but we know it will be. Once again, you have to ask when will enough be enough. Rest in peace, Christina. Such an awful thing to happen to anyone, particularly someone in the prime of their life and doing what they've always wanted to do. I also hope the family is able to find help and eventually peace in the times ahead, god knows they'll need it. Just absolutely awful.

Her death is certainly a tragedy, but perhaps now that someone at least mildly famous has been lost to pointless gun violence the American government will finally do something about it. Sadly though I think that's a dubious prospect in an election year where nobody is wanting to stir the pot and Obama is getting blocked every time he tries to do something worthwhile with what's left of his term.

This is just horrible to hear, especially given she had a whole singing career ahead of her and she was cut before she could reach her potential. I believe her murderer (who also suicided himself after killing Christina) might have been an anti-fan, but either way it's always terrible when young people die way too early, especially if it's from murder or murder-suicide.

I offer my condolences to her fans and family who are coping with her loss.

It's was really heartbreaking to hear the news suddenly springing up all over twitter and facebook. I haven't kept up with her in the last few years, but I remember how much I loved some of her youtube videos (especially the collaborations with a couple of my favourite music youtubers back in the day).

My thoughts are with her family, fans and especially to the boys of Before You Exit whom she was touring with.

    Rest in Peace Christina.

Avoid the comments like the plague though.
    ;( ;( ;(

I'm still trying to cope with her loss.

And yes, to whoever they said about USA Gun law debate issues.. I won't be surprised if new issues regarding gun ownership and use is going to pop up. I just don't want her death to be used as a highlight...

Then again, I'm not an American nor am I living in the USA to be articulate enough with these kinds of issues.

Honestly this has broken my heart. Such a bright talent and to die so young under such tragic circumstances is heartbreaking. I was watching a video she posted on Facebook just a few hours before this and she was so excited to be performing today. She did what she loved right until the end but heartbreaking is the only work that comes to mind. RIP.

Deeply mourning for her death. Me and my classmates are such a fan of her, from her Youtube days to her the Voice journey. It was a very sudden, unexpected loss for sure. Condolences to her family.

    :'( Rest in peace.

Doesn't matter who it is; sad to see someone lose their life for no good reason. She deserved better than that and especially at such a young age. Too much time left to live.

And this is why I try to avoid watching live shows, whether on TV or in real life, because something tragic like this may happen according to my intrusive thoughts. It's a shame that she was close to her prime; may she rest in peace.

My prayers go out to her family, especially her brother who had to witness this. I'd really just like to wake up one day without having to see the news of someone being shot just because some scumbag piece of shit does not value their life or the life of others. Such a sad story :/

He didn't just witness it, he tackled the shooter as well. So incredibly brave of him to try and save his little sister like that. I just read that Christina's mum survived breast cancer multiple times... to survive cancer and then have to bury your daughter after such a senseless crime is all kinds of fucked up.

Have been listening to a lot of the covers she did, some of which I haven't heard for years, and maaaan the chills. :,(

Sometimes, you have to just stop and wonder what the **** is going on. There was no purpose to this death. She wasn't a politician or a corrupt businessmen. She hasn't, to my knowledge at least, ruined people's lives. So what kind of sick would someone have to be to want to go to see her doing what she loved and just... shoot her. Jeez.

This kind of thing has happened in the music business before. Look up "Dimebag Darrell Abbott."

Some "fans" are just loony assholes who have too much access to guns thanks to poor gun laws.

The shooter didn't plan to kill himself. He had a getaway plan, but then Marcus tackled him, ruining it.
And irony is a fantastic human experience: to beat the odds to raise your children and then bury one.

I've been listening to sooooo much Christina Grimmie. Her cover "Just a Dream" with Sam Tsui is hypnotizing me right now.

I mean, lots of people have died in Orlando by this point, that one was also pseudo-popular as a singer needn't differentiate them that much news-wise now that they are dead and cannot sing to people. Still, definitely an interesting choice of target, as they were more of a middling or 'gateway' singer in the industry than anything else. Perhaps given her history with The Voice and Youtube, etc., the death being during a meet-and-greet thing is slightly poignant. Grimmie seems to have been their primary target, and it's somewhat unfortunate that their motive here is unclear, without which there's generally less to say about this.
