Things you didn't notice for years

Took me a while. I'm sure there's more, but after 15 years or so, I think I got them all down.

Roaming pokemons, Only now have i realized there was such a thing and thats thanks to the internet, though I did take a several year long break from pokemon.

Are there any seemingly obvious Pokemon things that you didn't notice for years? For me it's ArticUNO, ZapDOS and MolTRES, that completely slipped my mind for years.
This! Only realized a year ago or so.

And the same for suicUNE, raikOU and entEI which is kind of french "une", english "two" and german "drei". At least I think that was what they were aiming for, but in a less obvious way to the gen I trio.

I didn't know that EV-training existed until about generation four or so, haha. If I did, I would've maximized all my Pokémon's stats as soon as I were able. Another thing I never understood is how we're able to fly and surf on small Pokémon like Pidgey and Squirtle, and… still don't. XD"

:0 i never caught that. Learn something new every day i guess. As for me, i didn't realize that the light blue and red coloring of a pokemon's stats had to do with their nature until the release of x-y. Before then i was just looking for the right colors to be on the right stats.

Yeah, that's one that I hadn't noticed until about a year ago. I didn't know about EV or IV training until a couple of years ago when I started breeding in Gen V. Also:

Hitmonlee was modeled after Bruce Lee
Hitmonchan was modeled after Jackie Chan.

Until I explored Pokemon websites I had never even thought of many of the Pokemon theories. A few of my favorite being the ditto-mew theory, the Pokemon war theory and the Gengar-Clefable theory.

I've known about the above except for the legendary beast trio. Here are some I didn't notice until somewhat recently:

Fire Blast uses the kanji meaning fire.
Nidorina and Nidoqueen can't breed. Nidoran Female can.
Azurill isn't a Water type. It also can switch genders upon evolving into Marill because of the different gender ratios.
I can hardly spell ferret, lantern, volcano, and elixir thanks to Pokemon. Hint hint, RBY erroneously spelled the item as elixer.

Oh my gosh. I never. wait. what. wow.
O_O

I didn't know about the Regis existence in RSE until a few years ago.

I think I'm more surprised that people didn't know about the numbering in the legendary birds' names than I was when I first figured it out, haha.

As for myself, it took me years to figure out that Fire type moves weren't super effective against Poison type Pokemon. I honestly couldn't tell you why I thought this was the case, though it might have something to do with the abundance of Grass/Poison types in the 1st gen games.

I never actually realised that HMs cannot be forgotten normally until two years ago. I think it's because I never bothered to remove them, seeing as they were necessary to travel around. I think it was when I wanted Feraligatr to temporarily forget Cut (seeing as the HMs are everlasting) to learn an Ice-type move to beat Lance. Only then I realised the importance of the Move Deleter.

It took me four years to realise that Ethers or the superior versions can't be bought in shops, because I never saw the need to restore PP. Three years it took me to find out that wild Pokémon can sometimes hold items.

It took me 19 years to realize that Dunsparce is not laying on it's back all the time, that he actually has mouth, and that his hands, are actually wings. I was mindblown.

This is kind of stupid, but one thing I always thought about Poliwag was that the large swirl thing was its mouth, and the little pink part above it (which I now know is its mouth) was the nose. Then I realized the swirl was its intestines, like how tadpoles have visible intestines, and that made so much more sense.

But yeah, until recently, I always thought Poliwag (and by extension Poliwhirl and Poliwrath) just had a really big mouth.

I found out about Ekans last week when I was looking at Pokémon cards with a friend and he pointed it out >\\\<, also I didn't even think about the Arbok one lol. Such creative names xD

I didn't realize until a few weeks ago that Diglett and Wailord can actually breed of you put them in the Daycare. In addition, Wailord can also breed with Skitty, which is pretty weird as well.

What. Whaaat?!! WHAAATTTT-

... This is news to me. Imagine a Skitty saying to a Wailord "That's my boy!".

This, though for me I didn't know about EV training was a thing until about 5th gen. I also didn't know about IVs or IV breeding until 5th gen, too. Now, I do both of these things all the time. XD

I didn't know about EV training until way late either.
Also, I used to think only shiny pokemon came out at night...;///;
