Despite the positive reactions of many fans, and the original versions being over ten years old, do you think that AlphaSapphire and OmegaRuby are being released too early? There will only be a gap of 13 months between the release of XY and ASΩR, rather than the common two year gap. Is that enough time to produce a crisp and finished product? Or do you think the developers are being rushed? How do you think the gap between the last few major releases have affected those games?

For all we know, the game could have been in development for many months now, and they just now made the announcement. I guess we'll just have to see until it actually comes out.

I thought this too when I first heard about these. I had expected we'd see them next year and not this soon.

I'm no financial guru or anything, but I had read someone's post elsewhere talking about the state of Nintendo's financial losses in the last year. It makes sense that they'd try to push even more of their popular products out as quickly as they can. Releasing a main Pokemon entry every year would definitely get some profits going, though at the risk of over-saturating the franchise.

Regardless of it all, I'm still excited. I'm always up for more Pokemon, and I doubt we'll see a dip in quality (anytime soon.)

Pokemon X/Y is so lacking that I haven't played it since Christmas. There is barely anything to keep me coming back now I've finished the game, other than to assemble my team (which would only be used to fight OP players who exclusively use shiny legendaries, if I used that time to battle online).

If anything, it's too far away for me! :P

What do you mean Two Year gap?

There was a 19 month gap between B/W and B2/W2, and only a 12 month gap between B2/W2 and X/Y. This is actually a longer gap then the previous one.

I don't think this came too soon, and hey given our track record with remakes it looks like we could get a pretty decent postgame this time around, hopefully around Emerald, Platinum or even B2/W2 level. Next on my list of things to do online (particularly Tumblr) is to follow the news in coming days, weeks and months so I can see what to expect.

You'll have to keep in mind, they were working on both B/W and HG/SS at the same time, and people are still going on about how great the remakes were. For all we know, they could've been working on ORAS for years now. And since it's already closing in on 11 years since the originals were released, I honestly think it's about time. Not to mention that people have been begging for this ever since the release of HG/SS, so I definitely don't think it's too soon :p

Nah. It's been 10 years since R/S. It fits right into whatever pattern they've got. Cheap cash grab or not, this is exactly on-time.

Think of it like this—anybody born on R/S's original launch day is now 10 years old. Now's their chance to play it.

Some of you are mentioning a lack of post game from XY. Do you think ASΩR will have the same fate? Or do you think the development of ASΩR are the reason why XY didn't have a great post game?

@MusikMaestro it was an estimation. What I'm saying is that we haven't been waiting as long for the past few games.

When did Pokémon games ever have a decent post-game? The Battle Frontier only counts as a semi-half-assed attempt, IMO.

That'd make a great deal of sense and I do hope that's the reasoning behind it. Hopefully we'll have some really great post-game fun in this one.

Black 2 and White 2 had a fantastic post-game. The Pokémon World Tournament was especially amazing. ≈^_^≈

I think this is perfect timing for a remake, we've had nothing this year so far and by the time of the release we will be sort of due a new set of Pokémon games.

Even though I'm happy and all that about this release, I still think it's a little bit too early. Like I said before, X/Y was a completely new thing, and it will be forgotten easily, I'm afraid.

Aren't there at least two separate teams always working on different things? So I'm assuming that work on ORAS might have actually started before the launch of XY. So I don't see ORAS as the reason for XY's terrible post game—that's just how Pokémon games usually are.

Is there? I was always under the impression there was only one large team. I can picture them starting this during or right after X&Y.

Supposedly the B Team made HGSS and B2W2. Hopefully ORAS is the B2W2 of BW to XY in terms of quality.

    Honestly, I think that this is the perfect time for this, as most of my younger siblings are over 10 now, and are excited for this (one said that he wants a 3DS just for these games as well as X/Y). and I'm excited about these games as ORAS are remakes of the first GBA games that I ever played, and I was expecting these anyway, only after the X/Y remake, so that came as a shock to me when I saw the announcement.{XD}

Some people are saying that they are going to buy a 2/3DS and X or Y because of ASΩR. Even though ASΩR will steal the spotlight from XY (possibly forever) more people will become willing to try XY after they obtain a 2/3DS. So there is a chance that ASΩR will increase XY's popularity.
