Tug o' War Pokémon edition

Eh if it's got Ash in it I'd rather pass tbh. I stopped watching the Anime long ago because of him =P

Charizard could even manage to make Ash look kinda awesome at times in anime, so many iconic fights like the battle against Clair for the Rising Badge in Master Quest, or Nolan's Articuno at the battle factory during Advanced and the Spell of the Unown movie where he locks horns with Entei just to name a few moments.

Just remember, Arcanine was once a puppy, and you know what that means? :p

Can't help but wonder what was going on in the anime here xD
Growlithe back massage! :D

My favorite anime episode with Charizard might be Volcanic Panic. It was such a dramatic showdown against Blaine. It has that trainer Rekoil doesn't know in it, but chose a still where you can't see him.

I don't remember the specifics, but I do clearly remember finding Ash highly irritating to watch and I'll leave it at that. I had a much lengthier text typed out on the baka that I deleted.

If someone wants to like Ash that's fine, but for me the Anime is not a selling point at all. Which is as mildly as I can put this I think.

Anyway, back to Arcanine:

I never watched the anime, and though I'm not generally an anime watcher, it would be very hard for me to get through the Pokemon one specifically because of Ash. I, much like ReKoil, find him "highly irritating" lol.

There have been some noteworthy Charizards who served other trainers. In Origins Charizard is Red's starter and signature Pokemon. The show is flawed, mainly because the format was too short and events that warranted their own episodes were hopped over, but it had beautiful crisp animation and a symphonic score- the climax in Cerulean cave with Charizard is Origins at it's best.

Alain's Charizard was something too. His plot does intersect with Ash in the XYZ anime, but he also had his own exclusive episodes with Marrin in the mega evolution special, and that fight between Steven's Metagross and his Charizard is a favorite of mine.

There's Leon's Charizard with it's Gigantamax. Don't recall every struggling with it, but I don't give a dang about overleveling during a playthrough =P
It would probably be more fearsome in the Galar Battle Tower due to level restrictions, but I challenged that Battle Tower with a team of 3 ice types myself.
I kept leading with Cloyster though, which was a shiny one I bred which had Skill Link (all 3 of that team were shiny btw). I always just Shell Smashed on the first turn against whatever Leon's first mon was and Cloyster would just sweep his entire team. Icicle Spear was always enough to faint his G-max Charizard.
There were random trainers at that place that were more of a threat to me than Leon was ironically, as he's the former champion (such as Imposter Dittos, lose the speed tie and Cloyster would be dead and the rest of my team would be swept by the fake Cloyster :sadwick:)

Speaking of Gen 8, I really wish they didn't lock the box Legends behind the super boring postgame...

I thought gen 8 was going to introduce a steel and dragon eeveelution into the game. We are overdue for new eeveelutions, and they would have encompassed the medieval England, sword and sorcery theme well, a knight needs a dragon to fight, after all. But I guess since we got a pokemon who was both the steel and the dragon in Duraludon, it was unlikely. Maybe Legends ZA will do it since Kalos also has a theme of castles and kings. It also introduced Sylveon, and what is steel but a fairy's weakness, and dragon but it's immunity, has a poetic symbolism to it.

Although I wouldn't say no to more eeveelutions it doesn't strike me as particularly likely to happen at this point tbh.

Also can you even call that Sordward Shielbert rubbish a post game? =P
SV then also does almost the same thing in the next gen with revisiting the gym leaders for Geeta lol
