    In Pokemon Black/White(2) you are given a fossil of your choice. One will evolve into a sturdy, reliable Rock/Water Pokemon, Carracosta, the other into a fast, tough Rock/Flying, Archeops.

    Which one did you choose? Why? Which one do you prefer? In terms of design or stats?

    In my main Black playthrough, I picked Archen's line because Archeops looked cool and it hits really hard. Defeatist initially turned me off but I'm happy with its sheer strength.

    Tirtouga's line is pretty good as well. Bulky but also able to hit hard.
     
    I absolutely love both of them, but, I prefer Carracosta more than Archeops. If you get +1 Shell Smash + White Herb, this guy is OP!

    I also love to spam Head Smash with Archeops.
     
    Archeops! I really love turtles, but I don't like Carracosta's design for some reason. Archeops, on the other hand, is awesomely designed. Also, it learns Fly. I always have troubles finding a Pokemon to teach Fly to, so Archeops is a life-saver :)
     
    I've used Carracosta in my Black run, and Archeops in my White run. I love both, but if I have to pick one, it'll be Carracosta. Archeops may have the better stats, but I had more fun using Carracosta. Plus, turtles are one of my favourite animals. x)
     
    I've went with Carracosta, as it seemed better to me in terms of design and whatnot. When it came to battling, it wasn't so bad, either; was able to take down a handful of opposing Pokémon on its own. I would have liked it if its stats were a little more high than it is, but ones it's got right now aren't overly terrible. Moves that this Pokémon has access to are also good; with them, it's able to take decent advantage.

    As for Archeops, it's all right, but something about it seems to push me away, sadly. Wish I were able to put my finger on what it is!
     
    I've never used Archeops in BW, and Carracosta does have two rather suitable abilities for it and can use Shell Smash or Curse, so I think I have to go with that, at least in terms of usability. Archeops is rather let down by its ability and lack of defenses (N's in BW being a disaster doesn't help). But for design Archeops wins that one.
     
    Generation 5 was the first generation I actually struggled to pick between fossils, because I really liked both equally :) At the end of the day though I realised I liked Tirtouga more than Carracosta, and Archeops over Archen so I ended up picking the latter cause it would be more useful to me on my team :) I ended up then with an Archeops on my White 2 team and nicknamed him Blu (after the bird in Rio for some reason lol) :)
     
    While its ability is awful, I have to pick Archeops because I used it in-game once and I loved it. I think both of their designs are really cool, but I guess I'm a sucker for birds. I also really like the colors, and its movepool is also pretty nice. n_n it fit well on my team! Although I do remember I accidentally picked the Tirtouga fossil and I had to reset my game, but I hadn't saved for a while so I had to redo a lot of things, haha.
     
    Step 1. Give Archeops a flying gem
    Step 2. Use acrobatics
    Step 3. Don't let it lose HP
    Step 4. Win

    That's it.
     
    I prefer Archeops over Carracosta by a long shot, mainly because he's a bird; birds are my favorite animals. The only con he has is his unique, but disappointing ability, which was quite a letdown for most, if not all players. Carracosta is pretty cool, but he's a turtle, and I'm not really fond of those, mainly because, unlike birds, they don't have anything special to me.
     
    I chose Archen! Goodness does he pack a punch given his attack and speed stats + Acrobatics.. too bad his ability is lame. Tirtouga's line wasn't too memorable to me at first but lately I've been wanting to try it out as my water type for when I run through a fifth generation game again so hooray.
     
    Archen&evolution are clearly superior, but they just had to give it the worst ability of all time. At least it's not traunt though, amirite?
     
    I also chose Archeops. I'm honestly not a big fan of either of them, but Archeops packed more of a punch than Carracosta did. In terms of design, I guess Archeops is better? Idk, they both are kinda ugly imo haha.
