Everything has a reason. Sinnoh deserves time to shine more than kanto. I get that alolan forms are only versions of gen 1 but i really don't like the fact that ash is heading back to kanto in the middle of his current one.
Maybe I'm not particularly fond of Ash leaving in the middle of a region, but on the other hand, I'm also not fond of how Sun and Moon basically short-changed Ash by forcing him to go to school despite prior seasons establishing he didn't even need to go to school to be a good trainer and essentially ruining his Pokemon Master goal as a result. Compared to that, I can tolerate him going back to Kanto in the middle of a region. Besides, it's a class trip anyways, so it's not like there isn't justification in this case.
And you still haven't answered WHY they should show Sinnoh elements in Movie 20, especially when the main plot of Movie 20, canon or not, is a retelling of Ash's first journey.
Can't the students learn it from books on kanto pokemon in alola instead of going all the way to kanto. Trip hates kanto and those who come from kanto. It was mentioned in the anime.
What does Trip have to do with Sun and Moon? Last I checked, he was from Best Wishes and not even remotely involved in the Sun and Moon series. If you're going to try to use a character to badmouth any return to Kanto, make sure its an actual character in Sun and Moon.
And honestly, do you REALLY think they'd contradict a pretty big theme like going out and getting first-hand experience regarding this, especially regarding marketing potential, even WITH the most radical alterations to the plot thus far? Learning from books, are you kidding me? The School of Hard Knocks for starters actually showed how simply going by books is NOT the way to go as a trainer.
