Anime/Manga uguu?

Guilty Crown's soundtrack was the only thing I actually liked about it...although that is the case with a lot of anime these days.

I think Index has the more interesting story, but Railgun has the better cast. Not sure if my opinion will change after I've seen the second seasons and the movie, though. I wish they'd make an Accelerator anime series already; the chances of me actually reading the manga or LNs are pretty thin right now, and I want more Accelerator.

You have to admit that sometimes the soundtracks are too good for the anime themselves.

*coughmahousensou'sendingcough*

I have a very long list of soundtracks that are too good for the anime they belong to. xD;
Madoka, Attack on Titan and Fate/Zero are right at the top of that list

I wish anime could be a little more consistent...with video games, if it has a good OST I can be pretty sure I'm going to love it. With anime, I have absolutely no idea if the quality of the soundtrack will be reflected in the show...and a lot of the time I will keep watching the show, hoping something will happen to justify it having such a good OST, or just to listen to it in context. I've wasted far too much time watching awful series with good soundtrack; my priorities are messed up. xD

I always get the singles for the openings and endings that I like. Things like background music are nice, but I would never listen to it on my own. -w-

I've been listening to Kekkai Sensen's opening single nonstop, the other song is really, really pretty ;w;

I love Yuki Kajiura's music so much to the point that I just can't understand anyone who doesn't xD (like we can never be friends if you don't like her). I thought her score for Madoka and Fate/Zero were her best two masterpieces. (Sorry Aldnoah.Zero, but it got too spacey soap opera for me at times.)

I don't really know a lot of shows that have soundtracks that are too good for them. I don't even think Mahou Sensou's soundtrack was memorable in any sense lol. Most of the time the quality of openings match the quality of the show, imo. Like I like LiSA's discography, but her opening Rising Hope for Mahouka was my least liked son she has ever released (and it just happens that the anime itself isn't even decent to me).

I've never thought too much about OPs, although a good opening usually does get me in the mood for a show...having to skip it because it's so godawful puts a damper on things somewhat.

I hate it when they change the OP for an anime halfway through the show though...both seasons of Gundam Build Fighters have amazing first OPs and awful second ones. The second OP is rarely as good as the first one in my opinion...although if it has more than two, usually there is a fair mix of good and bad.

so many anime watching girls online. why oh why god is it not common irl. i cri evrytiem. lol sorry i'll keep your gender in mind, ojou-sama
You should know by now that almost everyone in this thread are grillzzz =D
Even you xD

Changes in openings normally happen whenever an anime lasts more than one cour aka more than the 12-13 episode standard. Plus, having the same opening going on for the whole 25-episode season gets boring, especially when you re-use the same opening theme as the previous season of the franchise. *glares at Log Horizon*

No matter how good a song is, if you listen to it at least 50 times on repeat, you'll get bored of it eventually. Heck, 25 times is enough to bore me. :T

Considering how catchy the Precure opening themes are, I disagree with this - I'd rather listen to one good song for an entire 25+ episode season than have to skip an awful one for the second half of it...as is often the case. As I said, it puts a bit of a damper on things if the first thing I have to do is skip the opening.

...although yeah, if it's a second season, it should use a different opening theme; recycling the one from the first season is just lazy. xD

Oh? I think second openings are important, and I know a number of shows that have better OPs than their originals (Magi: Labyrinth of Magic, Durarara!, Shirobako, among others). Often times, new openings do well to portray what is or will be going on for the rest of the show, and this is especially important when characters from a show die or new ones are introduced. It also makes things feel fresh and new. I'm a big fan of second openings, myself, especially for 2cour series. Though really good first openings do tend to color one's taste; it's a hard world out there for second openings.

Though I was also a fan of what Gurren Lagann did, using the first half of Sora-iro days for the first part of the show and then animating a new intro for the second part, but using the latter half of the song. That's fine, too, I'd say.

I won't argue that second openings are important - at least animation wise - but it'd be nice if the songs they used were actually good...off-hand, I can only think of two or three anime I've seen that have had good second OPs that I've actually wanted to listen to. I've not seen any of those you listed though, so unfortunately I can't comment on them. I suppose good first OPs are a tough act to follow, but they could at least try; sometimes (like with Death Note's awful second opening) it feels like they haven't even tried. But maybe this is just me...soundtrack has always played a huge part in my enjoyment of media, and when things change I tend to either love it or hate it; I have no real comfortable middle ground unless the soundtrack is mediocre to begin with.

Yeah, I liked what they did with Gurren Lagann as well. Suite Precure also did that, and it worked fine. I'd prefer that approach to be honest; it means things don't feel quite so removed, but they stay fresh...it's a good compromise which doesn't hurt my ears and make me flick my mouse across the bottom of the video to skip the thing.

Aren't good songs meant to be listened multiple times? XD At least it's just once a week (unless you binge-watch), with a long gap between cours.

I personally thought that Studio DEEN made a good move in retaining Log Horizon's opening because they knew they probably wouldn't be able to top it.

How on earth are we on the next page already? Man, this conversation is moving faster than usual.

Lol, point taken. Studio DEEN probably can't top it anyway. It's still lazy on their part tho. :P

a.k.a K-ON!

I heard so many good things about it, but disappointingly I kinda started falling asleep during the actual episodes. The songs were cool, though.

The light-heartedness of K-ON! just doesn't suit everybody after all. Although... judging from the size of the manga, it's really thin compared to a regular one from what I've seen years ago. And yet they're making it into a really long season anime. At least I think that a huge amount of filler will be involved. :T

Also we just had a conversation about K-ON! a month ago

But agreed, K-ON!'s soundtrack is cool.

K-ON's anime is still going??

K-ON's anime is still going??

What makes you think that? The way I talked about it? Well I still haven't watched it so I'm talking as if I'm expecting things from it.

EDIT: Just checked the episode count. 13 episodes and 26 episodes for the first 2 seasons. Hmm...

Kyoto Animation doesn't like making season threes. Ever. So, to answer your question, Sho, no.

I thought K-on was okay? I feel like it's a sin to call it okay? ):

K-On! wasn't THAT bad, was it? I mean, nothing happened in it, so that's really all there is to criticise. It could have been much worse: they could have given it an awful plot. I think poor effort at a plot offends me more than no effort at all, aha.

...that said, I haven't been able to motivate myself enough to watch the movie yet. I can stand twenty minutes of cute girls doing cute things, but over an hour? Maybe not...
