New episode of Dragon Ball Super came out today, and it's easily my favorite episode so far. Again, no spoilers, but it really hinted at something I wanted out of Dragon Ball Super more than anything: Character Development.
A week or two ago I casually watched Resurrection of F/Resurrection F for the first time which was...okay. On one hand it seemed like a response to BoG supposedly not having enough fighting, but on the other it really felt like a setup for Super. It's not a direct sequel to BoG and it shows, with several developments having been made without (much) explanation. Intentionally, it seems, because at the same time it doesn't frame these things in a way that would imply the viewer already knows the way things are.
Cutting back to Super, this episode planted a seed for one of the developments in the movie as well as giving context to the beginnings of various other things. Vegeta, in particular, shined in this episode. The guy's really growing, I'd say much more in these 16 episodes than most of his time in Z. Well, save for the whole Evil -> Good thing. But his actions have weight because you know who he is and how he acts, so here it's really interesting to see exactly where his priorities are and see how he's reassessed his values.
This episode was also really damn silly. iluvit. No text, kinda spoilers.
God, I really wish Z had had episodes like these.
