Final Update for Dark UMC!

Final Update (#6) on Black.

• Finished training around Unova, then headed to Victory Road, where I beat Cheren for the last time.
• After some more training, I took on Morimoto in Castelia City and won on the first try.
  
  
  
  
  
  
• Cynthia was much harder. I lost several time to her final Pokemon (Garchomp usually) before finally making it through with Jaws finishing it.
  
  
  
  
  
  
• With the help of some Rare Candies, I got my team up to L74 and got the Substitute TM (finally winter rolled around yesterday) for Punker.
• Also retaught Brave Bird to Vulture, Night Slash to Commander, and Outrage to Gangsta.

  Lisa beat Reuniclus (Musharna switched) with Fake Out+Sucker Punch, then fell to Metagross. Gangsta killed the rest with Earthquake and Crunch.
  
  

  

  
  Jaws took out Sharpedo and Bisharp with Earthquake, Vulture beat Scrafty and Drapion with Air Slash, and Punker beat Krookodile and Liepard with Focus Punch. He has the same team as me except for Mandibuzz, hmm.

  The hardest fight again, unsurprisingly. Lisa was able to beat Breloom with Fake Out+Return while avoiding Sky Uppercut, Vulture took down Mienshao, then Punker Focus Punched Sawk, Throh and Conkeldurr with the help of Substitute and healing. Commander finished off Toxicroak with Iron Head (was hit by Earthquake instead of Low Sweep for some reason).

When he left off, Jake was sitting in the Celadon Gym celebrating his brave victory. But, he knew he wasn't done yet: he had to fight his way through Rocket Hideout. When he was doen with that, Jake took a trip to Saffron City (picking up a Hitmonchan, nicknamed Vegeta) and went on to the Pokemon tower, pwning Gary. Jake then went down route 12 and killed the snorlax. On route 13, he simply beat the trainers in his path (which was nobody). There is a version of Visual Boy Advance called VBA Link and you can actually make two copies of a .sav file and change their types so one is a .sa1 file and the other is a .sa2 file. If you open up two VBA Link windows then you can literally trade with yourself. This method should only be used to evolve your Machoke by trading it with your Machoke on the other save file. Afterwards you can make a copy of the .sa1 file and change it back to a .sav file. I would just google VBA Link and it should be the first option, and they have step-by-step guides on how to use it. Hope that helped!

no you don't need to start over, you can transfer to sav file in between different versions of VBA. Look around on the VBA website, they sould be able to help you with that. Alternatively, you can finish the game with Machoke, he is still plenty good enough.

Yeah, JD's right. I don't think I've ever traded for a monotype. It certainly can help, but there are always plenty of available Pokemon for you to use in game.

Other than attack, Machamp only has about 10 base stats higher than Machoke for each stat, and attack is only 30 higher. Its not that big of a difference (Machoke still has 100 Attack, which is quite a bit.)

Uuuuurggh, there is something wrong with my VBA! I was going through Mt. Moon, then all of a sudden, my person just starts walking to the left! Usually, when something like that happens, I save it and reload it. But, when I got back on, it didn't show any save files! This is an outrage!

To evolve Sunkern, I got a Sunstone by winning the Bug Catching Contest (So Super Lucky :D) (Her name Helia is derived from Helios) Also, I cheated a little bit with Helia, as I let her grow up in the Day Care, simply because Sunkern is so hard to work with. Update #5

While he was in Fuschia City (If fuschia is misspelled, im sorry), Jake decided to kick Koga's butt. He killed his cronies, with a couple casualties, and fell victim to Koga. So, Jake decided to fight him again. After losing countless times to Koga, he decided to train Chris to a Poliwhirl, then Poliwrath. Jake grinded Chris up to Lv. 40, then decided to fight Koga again. Losing another few times, Jake decided to get Surf from the Safari Zone. With that being done, he challenged Koga again. After losing to Koga AGAIN( STUPID MUUUUUUUUK!!!!!!!!), he grinded him up another couple of levels. Finally, FINALLY, Jake beat that dumb Koga, with the help of Po w/ Strength and Sensei w/ Mega Punch. Jake is currently sitting in Silph Co. with this team:

-ran from every random encounter but scouted for all the trainers
-finally after many battles and receiving a fossil that ill never use i exit the cave
-thinking really hard wether or not i should teach char mega punch i soon realise that in all likely hood my char is the only one

who can learn it so guess what i do :P

do i need to keep an update list of everything ive done ingame or can i just give party updates every 4 gyms and the elite 4?

by the way seeing as FRLG saves are interchangable can i swap roms just to catch a magmar?

Well, the OP will hopefully get updated sometime or other in the near future, it has been neglected, I will give you that.

I don't really think you can do that with FR/LG, you're supposed to catch the pokemon in game, and no trading/hacking is allowed for fire type, so yeah. If you really want Magmar, use LeafGreen. You'll also get a chance to use Magmar/Growlithe/Vulpix in later games as well.

As for updates, just post them when you can. I also like to post screenshots of gyms and E4 and stuff, but it's purely optional. What you've done so far is perfectly fine.

By the way, Myrrhman, whenever the OP gets updated, we should prolly clarify the hacking rules, a lot of people get confused (me included!) when the first available pokemon is after a couple gyms in certain games but is not Dragon or Ice or something.

And that reminds me, I wanted to ask if hacking in Dratini for my Dragon type run on White (in the beginning) was ok, since I want to run with more than three pokemon for the first part of the game.
