Ultimate Monotype Challenge Thread

Well, i suddenly stopped this a long time ago, and now i finally get to say:

I quit 2 of my 3 ultimates.

I've completed Kanto and Johto with Bug

I've completed Kanto with Normal

And i'll now officially go on with my Water ultimate where i've already beat Kanto, Johto and Hoenn (Stopped posting Hoenn after #3 gym, but completed it afterwards) and will now start Platinum

Could this be recorded on the first post please? :D

Yep it does! But try to do them as in order as you can. I've done all 15 of the RBY ones, and now I've done about half of the GSC ones, but if I wanted to do like the Sapphire Grass and Pearl grass, it would still count for an ultimate. I'll add you to the single list now.

I'm going to attempt at a normal type run on Pokemon Platinum, on an Emulator (DeSmuMe). I'm going to start within the day :).

After roasting Morty, I went into Burned Tower and caught me a Magmar. :/ Then I realized it'd be a valuable HM slave... So training it takes backseat. Gave the Miltank lots and lots o' berries, and got some milk for it. Trained up the lighthouse, and started across the sea. >.< Cursed Water types! Flareon must have really good Sp. Def, because it repeated survived Surfs I thought it wouldn't. :) Made it to Cianwood, scared off Suicune and battled Eusine. Finally, I attacked Chuck's Gym. The Trainers were a little difficult, but Fighting-types really don't like being burned. :) Challenged Chuck. I took down his Primeape with a lucky critical on Lava Plume. Then came Poliwrath, the part I was dreading. I burned it with Vulpix, who promptly ate a Surf to the face. T.T Then I sent out Cyndaquil, expecting it to die, too.

Except... Poliwrath didn't Surf. It Focus Punched.... TEN TIMES. Every single time it failed. By the time he got around to Surfing, it was far too late. Flareon finished up Poliwrath handily!

Headed back across the sea the long way, since I stupidly didn't catch anyhting capable of Flying. :/ Corrected my error on the other side by catching a Farfetch'd.

Why aren't you evolving Cyndaquil til he learns Flamethrower? Typhlosion learns Flamethrower 5 levels higher than him, but Typhlosion also has way more than 15 more special Attack than Cyndaquil, so Typhlosions Lava Plume will be stronger than Cyndaquil's Flamethrower, as will all his other stats.

Edit: In dark, I'm up to Tate and Liza. Shouldn't be hard at all with two shadow ball sableyes and faint attack.

- Next stop Slateport City! Ahoy.
- Route 109: I beat them all, I put Magikarp in front of the team so he could grow, luckily he grew to 15 and now knows Tackle.
- After beating them all, even the ones in the shack, my team was like these.

- It seemed like it was some sort of Faggy Red Costume People convention in town.
- I went to the Poke Lovers Club. Apparently Marshtomp loves me and Magikarp does not. Sucker.
- A reporter harassed me. Oh, It seems I'm cursed.

-They didnt let me enter the Pokemon Contest, but I obtained a Pokeblock Case.
-There was nothing left for me to do. So I left Slateport City.
- I delivered the Devon Goods (And lost $50 to some blood-sucking recepcionists, never trust a woman with green hair).
Beat up Team Magma rookies. Their red-haired fierce leader talk some **** and went away.
- I left Slateport City and in my way met the most smart guy ever.

Route 110, 103 and The Trick Master Challenge
- Beat them all.
- Earn Rare Candy.
Note: It happen something that I was afraid was gonna happen, in several battles, Marshtomp fell in love with these Skittys. Damn you puberty.
- I caught up with May.

I was concerned about Grovyle but it turns out that Wing Attack was really effective
Then fire pokemon Numel was easy too)
She kept talking about her "new" boyfriend and we battle, I knew that the boyfriend was imaginary as soon as she mentioned his name.

-Finally I arrived Mauville City, Magikarp was LV19 and I knew that at LV20 he evolved into a Gyarados, so I give him the Candy Rare.
-I went trough the Biker's Place, two reasons, level up and I have put my MAGIKARP the nickname Magikarp (yeah lol) and now it was a Gyarados so I needed to change that.
- Magnemites were defeated with Bite and Water Gun.
-Route 118: Win them all.
-Winstrate Challenge: Defeat them all at the first try. Earned Macho Brace.
-Route 117: Even easier.
-Wally wanted me to fight him so he can prove his uncle that he was worthy of fighting a Gym Leader, I let him win.
When I came back it was like they had amnesia. What a couple of jerks. So I beat him with Wingull.

Now the big challenge, Mauville City Gym Challenge. Electric Type Monsters. Oh god!
Besides my Pelipper is not only a water type monster is also a bird. Ouch.
The guys before the leader were kinda easy (the first one actually kill one of my PKM) but I beat each one of them without fainting so.

Note: I'm thankful that the third gym was the thunder one, if the last one was thunder that would've been hard.
Notes Of The Matches:
- His first two pokemon were easy to beat with Marshtomp and Pelipper, using Water Gun. The Wing Attack was sh*t. The Mud-Slap also.
Gyarados's Bite was useless with any of his pokemon.
- The third one was easy to attack with Water Gun but his attacks were better so he kept on defeating me faster.
- In the matches that I was losing, I used Marshtomp first and he was to weak to fight Magnetron, and Pelipper was weaker to thunder attack.
- So I decided that I use Pelipper first and Marsthomp later in order to win, which it worked.

- I went to Rusturf Tunnel, I find some Black Glasses. Beat up a Hiker badly.
I help some juice head meet his girlfriend. He gave me the HM Strength.
I went to Route 111, fish some, find a Goldeen but didnt capture it. Just didn't feel right.
I defeat an interviewer and a camara man. The lady was all over me. Not lying.

- I kept walking defeating hikers and campers, one was specially dumb, he kept saying pep. What's pep?
Not to brag. But I made one of them boys cry.

- I entered the Fiery Path. It had some boulders. Lol.
I read somewhere that Linoone could learn Strength. I already had a Zigzagoon as a HM slave that could Cut and Rock Smash.
So I decided to do a little "wild pokemon killing to get level", Zigzagoon evolved into Linoone and learned Strength.
(It took a good while, but thanks to the highest volume music, TV, my patience I almost didnt notice)
-But I forget that I need a new badge to use Strengh, oh well, anyway I was gonna evolve him sometime.
-I got off the cave.
Route 113
-Something told me that I wasn't gonna find a Water Type Pokemon here.
-I keep walking and battling. Another girl started flirting with me, I was kinda feeling bad of rejecting them all. So I made out with her.
I have to go as the rolling stone I am, but she told me.

- I've finally arrived to Fallarbor Town. A girl on the PokeCenter told me to go to her house. She did. It's not paranoia from me. I'm dashing.
The fossil dude told me to go find fossils at Route 114.
There was no Gym and I'm not ready yet to enter those Beauty Pagents so I left the town.
- I went over the lady house, she just gave me a doll and a dumb advice about some PC. Nerd.
- I found a Protein and gave it Gyarados, which was a great idea.
He used to attack and leave the opponent with very little HP, now he defeat anyone. Tough.

- I entered the Meteor Falls.
- I saw Team Magma people, but then some guys dressed all blue and black in pirats appear.
This is just getting faggier than already was. It was like the Village People.
Finally Magma team left, the blue pirate told me some random stuff about his Aqua Team. Oh whatever.
- I got off the cave and went down, I find some opponents that I could easily beat, and a freak that wanted to show me his Pokemon.

Spoiler:

- I ended up in Rustboro City, I use the magic tunel to get me Verdanturf.
Then went to Mauville, go up and take the train or however is called.
Couldn't go down, some gay ass Magma and Aqua team guys were raping Poochyenas. Discusting.
Then I went up and I find more people humping Poochyenas. I just couldn't watch it.

- Oh whatever, I beat all Magma team, I mean... MAGMA!, It was easy with my power puff water type team.
I took the Fosile away. And went down to Lavaridge Town. I was tired, the Pokemon always get to rest.
I decided it was MY time to take a good rest so I did.

- It was time to get serious. I was gonna face the Gym Leader... Of the Gym that used Fire Pokemon. Lol!
Piece of cake. This was the team that she have to face.

- It was easy. Pelipper used Water Gun on their first two pokemon and beat the living hell out of them.
Then Marshtomp used three Water Guns and beat the Torkoal. Gay ass Torkoal by the way, he used charm on Marshtomp.

- Out of the Gym I saw May, I try to hide but she talked to me anyways. Gave me a present for Valentine's Day.
I told her that it wasn't Valentine's Day. She said that it was a late present. Oh well. Also she mention something about dad.
I just was hoping she didnt try to convinced him into try to convince me into dating her. Dont matter.
The old man listens to me, not the other way around.
Next gym. Dad's one. But first, explore the sandstorm with my new goggles.
- Went to the storm, the only thing that was good finding was the fossil.
- Now onto dad's gym. I beat his minions and here is the team so far.

Spoiler:

- I win, he ended up defeating Gyarados and Pelipper but I ended up winning.
- He start whining and then mention Wally. What a douche.
- Then Wally's dad gave me Surf. Which I made Gyarados learn. (Funny, Linoone could Surf too?)
- So I started surfing from Captain Briany's house (the one that has Peeko) to Dewford Town.
- Then keep surfing to Slateport City. But in the way I found a wrecked ship.

Spoiler:

- I find some items and defeat some random sea-people (sailors, tubers)
- I got out and keep on my way to Slateport, in the way there were more trainers and some items.
- Finally arrived. I went to the Trick Master Challenge again and won it. I was hoping for a Rare Candy, oh well.
- I did the Challenge again. He gave a hard stone. Lol.
- And I did it one more time. He gave me a Smoke Ball. WTF is that.
- I went to Mauville city. The gym leader ask me some favor about the generator. Now I surfed from the Mauville City to 118.
- I obtained a Good Rod.
- I started to fish for a bit spontaneously and caught a LV12 Carvanha.
Okay, I actually wanted to caught him because I knew it was the only place to get him, and it took me along to find him and not defeat him.
Oh and now that I remember, kudos to Nintendo, for reflecting how many patience a real fisher has to have.
- I saw Steven, he told me some stuff about If I just raised one type of pokemon or what, like he knew about the MonoType Challenge.
I was actually shocked.
- I went to the left and stole a whole bunch of berries.

Note: I just find out that Iron helps Attack, but not the Special Attack. I bought a bunch of those and my Pokemon mostly have SP. Attacks. lol
- I defeat the Mimic's Circle.
It was tricky because I had Carvanha at the top of the team, and I have to walk between the tall grass and they keep walking the other way.
Marshtomp evolved to Swampert.
- I walk trough the bridge.
- Dumbass Magma Team is inside the Weather Institute. I taught my Carvanha "Surf" and with that move beat every Magma member.
Sometimes I left them weak and finished them with a Bite. But it worked pretty much for Zubbat and Poochyenas.
No need to say Numels were an easy target.
- And as Magma, my cute boyish charm haunt me again.

- I earned a Castform. I went to Donald Trump's mode and fired him.
- With the road clear, I continue my walk.
- And I saw May running after me. Stalker. I say that out loud and she wanted a battle.
Her Numel was a piece of cake with froasting.
Her Wailmer also.
I was kind of afraid of Grovyle but a couple of Dragon Rage of Gyarados did the work leaving him with no single touch.
- Last time she said something about my dad, now my mom. How controlling.
- I was finally in Fortree City. They all live in trees. Freaky.
- There was a comment that make me think about the lack of cleaning of the character.

- I went to route 120 and met Devon who gave me the Devon Scope.
- I kept walking to Route 121.
- Enter the Safari Zone for items, left with none.

- I came back to Lilycove and saw May. This girl keeps following me around.
- She talks about that she thinks I'm not raising my Pokemon properly. I beat her like 4 times in a row.
- She said she like to see me angry. Then we battle. I won of course.

His Swellow was an easy target to Gyarados.
Carvanha drowned that Numel.
Pelipper use Wing Attack and finished Grovyle.
Then it only took three tackles from Swampert to finish Wailmer.

- Whatever she kept talking about her PokeDex. Obnoxius.
- I went to route 122. First I went trough route 123 without knowing that that will lead me back to Route 118. Then to Fortree City.
- I decided to hit the Gym. It was actually pretty easy.
- The team before face the leader.

- Carvanah died with an Aerial Ace.
Swampert beat Swallow with a couple Take Downs
Same story for the Gym Leader's Pelipper.
Skarmory wasn't so affected with Take Down, but he was with Water Gun, altough Swampert won, he just had 4 HP left.
Altaria used Dragon Breath first and finished Swampert.
Gyarados won with Twister, then Surf, then Dragon Ragex2

- I entered MT. Pyre after flying to Lilycove City.
I found Team Magma members. The wild pokemon that dont let me escape are more of a challenge than this guys.
I defeat them and the old lady gave me the Red Orb.
- I start fighting the other trainers in the graveyard. And Carvanah evolved into Sharpedo.

- Now onto Slateport City. Team Magma took the submarine. I wen to Team Magma's base.
I defeat every of them faggy ass rookies and took all of the items. Then had to defeat the Admin.
The boss escaped and in the admin I found a Magma member that didnt tell his plans stupidly.
- The sea was now free to ride trough.
After defeating the guys in Route 124 (I dont know If everyone, Sharpedo was fainted so I decided go first to the CP).
Then I arrived to Mossdeep City. Steven gave me Dive. I also obtained a Super Rod.
- I fish a while and found a Wailmer. Catch him.

Spoiler:

- Time to face the gym. Apparently those psychic pokemon are weak to Bite.
Battle agains the leaders Tate and Liza with a Z.

Sharpedo take away one third of both HP with Surf.
Solrock took light and Lunatone rose his SP. ATK with I dont remember the name of the move.
Wailmer use Water Pulse, no big deal.
Solrock defeat Wailmer with Sunbeam.
Lunatone use Hypnosis and send Sharpedo to sleep. Literally sleep.
I send Gyarados.
The leader use Hyper Potion on Lunatone.
Gyarados used Surf and left Solrock red. Not big damage on Lunatone, just a third of his HP.
Sharpedo still sleeps.
Solrock used Psychic con Gyarados, not biggie.
They used Hyper Potion on Solrock.
Gyarados used Surf, both just had left half of their HPs.
Sharpedo was fast asleep.
Lunatone used Screen, nothing.
Gyarados used Surf. They have yellow HP.
Sharpedo woke up and use Bite on Lunatone leaving him really weak.
Lunatone flinched.
Solrock used Psychic on Gyarados, leaving him yellow.
They used Hyper Potion on Lunatone.
Gyarados used Surf leaving Lunatone still green and Solrock red.
Sharpedo used Bite and defeat Solrock.
Sharpedo grew to LV 35
Both use Bite on Lunatone, not big deal.
Lunatone defeat Gyarados with Psychic Beam or something like that.
I send Pelipper.
Surf and Wing Attack left him red. He missed his move.
They used Hyper Potion.
Surf left Lunatone with half HP.
Wing Attack. Worthless.
Another Surf from Sharpedo defeat Lunatone.

Spoiler:

- One more badge and then we will be ready for the Elite.
- I taught Wailmer Dive.
- I just Dive a lil bit and found the Seafloor Cavern where was the Submarine that Team Magma stole.
- This Magma rookies were a good chance to level Wailmer up.
- Then Maxie wants to fight me, I of couse end up winning, like always.
- So Groudon woke up, apparently Maxie didnt think this plan trough. Archie came and we all get the hell out of there.
I didnt have no sun block on and the sun was hot as hell. I saw Steven he said something about Sotopolis, so I decided to go there.
- I've not only found a place that reminded me of Greek and Atlantis but also the last gym.

Spoiler:

- I enter the Cave Of Origin, and no one of my Pokemon knew Flash and couldn't learned it so I walked in the dark.
- It was OK, except that I may not find some items. Anyway I found the last HM. (I think is the last one)
- Suddenly that red Groudon wanted to battle me. I have a Master Ball. But he was not only a legendary pokemon but also not water.
Besides it was better for him to rest in peace. So I beat his ass. He beat my first three pokemon (Wailmer, Pelipper and Sharpedo)
But Gyarados beat him with Dragon Rage.
- I saw all kind of pokemon on the bottom of the sea and it was time to think about my sixth pokemon. I didnt have no idea which one I wanted.
But the I tought that I really like Starmies since the first Pokemon TV Show. So I did research and then fly to Lilycove, fish with my Super Rod.
And I caught a Staryu. Now I needed a Water Stone.

- So I took a look at a tutorial to find a Red Shard and then I traded with Hunter for a Water Stone.
- Then I used it. Yeah, no patience whatsoever.

- I went to the GYM of Sootopolis. He uses water type pokemon.
Poor guy whom plays this challenge in this game with a fire team.
- The trainers had high level pokemon, they didnt defeat mine but leave them with red HP.
They just get to faint my LV28 Starmie.
It wasnt so easy but I could win the matches.
- It was hard but I won, not thanks to Starmie, Wailmer or Sharpedo.
Actually Gyarados practically was the one who take care of anyone, he and some Hyper Potions that I used on him.

- Now I think I'm ready for the Pokemon League, The Elite Four, whatever is next.

-It took me a lot of surfing to discover how to get to Ever Grande City.
Note: The only time I play Ruby besides this I never went to Ever Grande. So I'm kinda excited.
- So far. Victory Road is a b**ch. The first trainer had a LV44 Roselia that beat my weak water pokemon.
I really have to train a lot in here to get Starmie, Sharpedo and Wailmer to a high LV.
(Besides I think most of the pkm on Victory Road are rock or sand, that will make it easier)
So I'm aiming to train in Victory Road until they all get between 45-50 LV.
- Besides I'm gonna keep on buying Protein and that stuff.

Then I will kick the Elite Four's ass.

So, I beat the Kanto leg of my Fighting UMC (which was surprisingly quick). I will begin my Johto leg now, which I know will be the longest since it will take me a while to make my way all the way up to Red, and then beat him. I'll try to be more descriptive and have more updates of my battles in the upcoming games, since I didn't know this one would pass by so quickly. Anywho, here's my entire journey in Kanto, without making it too long though:

I start out by naming my character Nick, and immediately head out to get a pokemon from professor Oak. Soon, I have a bulbasaur, appropriately named HMSLAVE. I then dispatch of my rival, Drew, and his charmander, and am on my way. Skip forward to Pewter City, where I easily take down Brock with my newly evolved Ivysaur. No fighting pokemon yet, but after going to Cerulean city, I saved Bill, and went to catch a mankey, named Desmond, the first fighting type available in red. I grinded him up a bit, and took on Misty. Defeated her and gained some levels, but it was the last time I could use HMSLAVE in a battle.

Grinded a lot and went to Vermillion, where the S.S. Anne helped a lot. Took on Lt. Surge, and he went down without much trouble. The hardest part really was the stupid trash can switches (until I got the hint about the switches being side-by-side). Celadon's leader Erika wasn't too bad. Then I got Machop, and named him Jackman. Leveled him up into a Machoke, and I got Hitmonlee from the (fake) Saffron Gym. Named him Romploon. Grinded quite a bit for the next challenge, Sabrina. Desmond's dig made quick work of her. Pretty much every gym after Erika stopped being hard.

Went to Fuschia city and got the good rod, and I got HM FLY. Taught it to a spearow named FLYSLAVE and went back to Pallet town, where I got a Poliwag with the good rod. Leveled it, and went to safari zone where I got surf. Taught it to Splooge, the poliwhirl, and gave him a water stone after learning all the moves I need him to have. Koga was annoying because of poison moves. The hardest gym leader, compared to all the other easy gyms. Traded Jackman to get a Machamp, then went to Cinnabar to get pissed at the stupid mansion. Took FOREVER to get through, but then I demolished Blaine with dig. Flew to Viridian, spent about 30 seconds getting to Giovanni, and just surfed him to death. All 8 badges, and onto the Elite 4.

Made it through victory road, did some grinding, and prepared to take on Lorelei. I put HMSLAVE and FLYSLAVE in a box. It was just me, Desmond the Mankey, Romploon the Hitmonlee, Jackman the Machamp, and Splooge the Poliwrath. Desmond's extremely useful thunderbolt took care of Lorelei, except her Jynx, which was destroyed by dig. Next was Bruno. Splooge wrecked both Onyx's, while Romploon's mega kick took out the rest of his team. Desmond solo'd Agatha's team with the power of Dig and a thunderbolt on Golbat. Pwnage. Lastly was Lance. Desmond made quick work of Gyarados, followed by Splooge for his Ice beam, which eliminated all of Lance's other pokemon. Sweet! But then he rubs the fact that Drew, my rival, is teh champion, in my face! So I settled this once and for all. Pidgeot went down thanks to Desmond and thunderbolt, and dig eliminated Alakazam's psychic threat to my team. Rhydon was washed away by Splooge's surf, while Exeggutor was frozen by his ice beam. Desmond switched back in and his thunderbolt tore through Gyarados and Charizard, making me the victor! And thus ends my tale! Here is my team's final stats:

Romploon - Lv. 70 - Hi Jump Kick, Toxic, Mega Kick, Jump Kick
Jackman - Lv. 70 - Mega Punch, Seismic Toss, Earthquake, Rock Slide
Splooge - Lv. 71 - Hypnosis, Ice Beam, Body Slam, Surf

Update for Ultimate Monotype Challenge (Fighting).

Update #2 on Sapphire.

Nothing too exciting happened from Mauville/Fallarbor to Mossdeep City, where I am now. I did add a Heracross to the team from the Safari Zone when I arrived in Lilycove City. Pyre also evolved into Blaziken on the way to Fortree City as well.
