Hey it's been a while since I've started the dark challenge so I'll skip some of the details. Just so you know for Kanto I am using hacks on LeafGreen for Dark Pokemon.

Could i please join this? I would love to join it for ruby. I already have some of my team planned out. (bug type challenge.) Surskit, nincada, armaldo,..... dun dun dun... while i was deciding my team, i came across this... No bug/flying types in ruby can learn fly!!!!! And i can't hack/trade (no access point compatible) This is a diaster!!! If there is a bug/ flying type that can learn fly in ruby, please say so :/ so yeah!!! Alright! i am going to start right now! :D

Unfortuantely no bug type can learn fly until Gen v. It is one of the weirdest gqme freak decisions ever. Pokemon like Yanmega and Butterfree should learn it. This is Yanmegas Heart Gold pokedex entry 'This six-legged Pokémon is easily capable of transporting an adult in flight. The wings on its tail help it stay balanced.' good work game freak

Hi! I would like to sign-up for a flying type challenge in Leaf Green! I just bought it, and I got it in the mail today(lost my fire red awhile back, :/ ), and I've wanted to do a flying type challenge for awhile now since it's my favorite type! I have a question though...I would like Charizard and Dragonite on my team, but they don't become a flying type until their last evo. How do I do it? Train them only in grass, and not against trainers/gym leaders?? I would use my pokemon Yellow version, but I don't want to start a new account on that.

No you just use charmander and dratini normally and evolve them as soon as possible. You can use them in gym battles and trainer battles. Or else you would have to train your charmander to level 36 on wild pidgeys and rattatas at level 2. That would be boring. :D

Thanks for answering! I just started half an hour ago. I decided I will use my charmander and dratini(when I get it) for trainer battles, but not gym leader battles. I wanna make sure every gym I defeat is because of a flying type. ;D

Once charmader evolves into a charizard, I'll then start using it in battles. So thank you! I'll update on how far I've gotten perhaps tonight or tommorow! Thank you!

Oh yeah, thanks i'll just use an hm slave. so here is my update if i may?
- started the game, beat may with torchic.
-caught surskit and wurmple ont he same route
-level grinded them to lvls 10 for surskit and 11 for wurmple.
-wurmple is now beautifly
-defeated all the trainers and helped wally catch his first pokemon
-defeated all the trainers in the new area, passing through the forest
-defeated the trainers after that and made it to thenew town.
-level grinded on the frst rock gym leader
- surskit is now lvl 18 and beautifly 17
- beat the first gym
-did somethings, now in the new city
- sweeped the fighting gym with beautifly's gust
- surskit is now lvl 20 and beautifly 20!

-Accidentally named it Beut in hope of a Beautifly...Got a Dustox...
-Caught another Wurmple, named it Dust, got a Beautifly!
-Went to Rustboro got a Nincada, named it Sappy.
-Luckily beat Roxanne!
-Dust took out her Geodude easily, Sappy Sand-Attacked her Nosepass. Her Nosepass took out both Dust and Beut, even with it's lowered accuracy... :( But Sappy saved the day!
-Onto to Dewford!

Actually do you think it would be possible for me to change and do an Ultimate Bug Type challenge? I can't go in order because I don't have a Kanto game but I am hoping that I get Leaf Green soon. I would use Soul Silver for Johto, Ruby for Hoenn, Platinum for Sinnoh, and when the new Unova game comes out I'll use that one because I have too much done on Black.

Hi all, sorry I haven't updated in a while, been busy and whatnot >.<

So yeah, I started an ultimate grass monotype challenge in heart gold
And this is what has happened:
- Just Beat Falkner with my trusty chikorta
- progressed and caught a hoppip, nicknamed him Cpt.Cotton
- Chikorita evolved into Bayleef, and bellsprout into weepinbell :D
- Went on to just beat Bugsy, his scyther was a pain but managed to wall him with Bayleef
- Caught an oddish in Ilex Forest
- Caught an exeggute and a sunkern
- Managed to beat Whitney, wasn't to hard compared to past tries in gold
- Won the bug catching contest twice, got two sunstones and evolved sunkern to sunflora and gloom to bellossom :D
- Beat Morty and then evolved exeggute and defeated chuck
- Now grinding and getting ready to face Jasmine, which will be a task with grass types

Okay, so I finally pulled myself together and decided to finish this challenge. Here goes.

Region: Unova
Type: Grass
Game: White
Badges: 2

So I picked up Snivy, and the little guy was off to a great start, showing Cheren and Bianca how it's done. On Route 1, we caught ourselves just a little more Pokémon than our friends, just for showing off, then quickly shoved them into the PC. The Striation Gym was much easier than expected, but still a challenge. Here follows a lot of stuff, I don't remember and some grinding. Snivy evolved, hell yeah. So, Servine and me took on the second gym. And boy, Lenora proved to be a challenge. It seemed I had lost my grasp of the Grass-type mentality. So I gave up my Fire-type minded brutality and finally started thinking in more strategic ways. And with some Leech Seeds and Growth, I managed to Leaf Tornado Lenora's ass with ease. This challenge finally began to look like serious fun. I then rushed off to the forest and caught two Petilil and a Sewaddle, then traded a Petilil for a Cottonee with that one in-game character. • After starting back home, I got the National Dex upgrade, then headed through the Victory Road basement to the Fight Area.
• I had to teach various HMS to my team (Strength, Rock Smash, Rock Climb), which was a pain.
• Anyway, I went exploring and found myself another move tutor, which taught Earth Power to Gerald.
• Then I headed north to the Survival Area and did the Stark Mountain sidequest with Buck, defeating Mars and Jupiter once again.
