4th Gen Update! Pokemon heart gold and soul silver 5/16/09

I just named one way >_>. Well let me revise it.

Lets say Prof. Elm calls you out of bed, and says he has an emergency, and needs you and the female trainer to go out and help him find the pokemon that ran away scared from the explosion. You find at least one of them in route 29 (they're scattered in different spots), the one you find and press A on becomes your starter while soul (yeck) finds the one weaker to yours, and elm finds the last one, and brings him back to the lab. Then soul goes back home, and gets the call from Mr. Pokemon (some part of me wants them to change that guy's name...cause it sounds ridiculous). Then the pokemon you found follows you, and then the rival appears outside the window, soul notices him, and tries to talk with him, he knocks her out of the way, you continue not giving a crap, and do basically the same thing as before.
But the person said for a way which didn't involve a change to the storyline - or leastways, how GSC had it. This is a remake after all, instead of a brand new game with original everything. What you have here does differ from what happened before... and tbh I don't see what's the deal with the random explosion there as well. Labs don't often do that, for starters... =P (And what about the whole' you can't walk in the grass without a Pokemon!' thing?)

Also, they may have been also falling at the fact that the video suddenly stopped again - much like how they fell over in the first video when it suddenly stopped. For repeating jokes is FUNNY!

Thank you, and I completely agree with what you have said. It is also exactly what I said, a new way for choosing the starters without the change of the starting storyline.

Good points. Well for one, you probably wouldn't have random encounters...OR you could have options like in the safari zone, such as throwing stones to scare them, or such. It would definitely be a fresh new start in the game. As for the random explosion, we could probably find an ass pull for that. :P

Remakes in general have a huge tendency to differ from what was done before. As long as the changes dont drastically alter the whole experience, I see nothing too extreme. And I doubt this slight change in the story beginning would alter the whole game. It still involves the Rival's thievery, the visit to Mr.Pkmn's house, etc. It doesn't have to be EXACTLY like before, then we'd all know what to expect. I would like to be a LITTLE surprised at least.

Besides, im simply answering one's question of "how would they make it any different to justify falling over"

That explains the cartoon's lack of improvement. >_>

I bet Elm's fridge explodes. -_- Nevertheless, the changes do seem to add nothing to the story as well, really - just filler that delays actually going out there and getting to Mr Pokemon's place. (If it turns safari-zone style, it'd also be blantently ignoring that NPC who stops you from getting out of New Bark Town until you get that Pokemon, and appears to be in again

Personal opinion here, but I'd rather that they kept the beginning more true what it was like in GSC, over changing it tot he extent of adding explosion-fuelled explosions. (Never mind that Pokemon probably would be injured if they were sent flying so far from within a lab. Heck, Silver would be dead too as he's standing right next to the place. And Elm... eh, don't care about Elm that much... =P These changes do seem to add some potential plotholes as well, and I don't mind having the beginning the same - for me, least-ways, I don't really care about how 'epic' the Pokemon-getting process is - I just want the darn Pokemon already. XD

As for games having a tendancy to be different - that is true, and there will be some differences here, IMHO. Yet judging by FR/LG's 'loyalty', so to speak, to how things happened in RB, which differs in that Sevii Islands get thrown at you near the end... At any rate though there's no point saying it'll be this or that way until we find out for ourselves in playing the game.

Don't mind some changes later on - or rather, additions that add to the story and don't involve random explosions to make getting the starter Pokemon more special and at the risk of plotholes. =P

Granted. Of course, I'm just responding to your proposal with my thoughts and opinion, is all. =)

Just leave it alone. The typical gamer these days has an obessesion and a fixation that everything needs guns and explosions with super high tech 3D graphics for the game to be enjoyable. Story? Who cares things go boom! And that is why I am happy to have learned the true art behind a game long ago and I am not a mindless 3D is pawn and boom is cool dolt of this age and day.
Anyway Azalea seems to be pretty cool if the mart has a flag. I wonder something though. What will the buildings be like.

People are making too big a deal out of this. Yeah, it's pretty cool that they revamped the music, and they redid the sprites, but being annoyed that the Totodile kept marching? Come on, it doesn't really matter. If you guys are actually as excited about the remakes as you seem to be, you won't care.

Also, beautiful? I think of beautiful as a sunset on a secluded island off the Pacific.... not Pokémon. It's pretty cool, but you guys are treating it like it's the Holy Grail.

that ran away scared from the explosion

Heck, Silver would be dead too as he's standing right next to the place.

Hmm....

Care to explain? The explosion yeah it could, like "how the hell did that happen". Im sure a lot of people obsessed with story would complain about that for years to come.

I don't really care about how 'epic' the Pokemon-getting process is - I just want the darn Pokemon already. XD

Thats cool. Its not like im saying I want this change, but like I said, if people are getting excited over how you get starters, then it should be a good reason. Not just a graphical update.

Well...this isn't FRLG, so yeah who knows :P

Not saying it would.

Hey, look at it this way. You're not obnoxious about it like poliwagged would be about everything. :P Not tryign to flame but yeah.

Whoa...where the hell did that come from?

Maybe the explosion was going a little too far. I say the game is turning out well, and some of the new additions seem to be pretty useful...I mean I haven't seen anything that doesn't really need to be there as yet.

How about instead of making the lab explode, how about they show us a flashback of when Cinnabar Island exploded to show us why Blaine moved his gym to the Seafoam Islands.

I think New Bark Town looks lovely (better than I expected). I wouldn't want to see it explode. I like the beginning in GSC better than the beginning of any other pokemon game. I wouldn't really want a change in HG/SS. As for the intro, it's the best intro in my opinion. (I'm talking about the bottom of the ocean, the lapras, the Jigglypuff and Pikachu...that intro, not Professor Oak speaking.) I'd rather keep the intro similar to that, but with updated graphics.

Well no matter, I would prefer the beginning to stay the same, simple fast, and to the point...that way our journey doesn't take forever to start with a bunch of talking like they did in DPPt.

Have you noticed, in the pichu scene there are new tree's xD

Actually all the teees in this are new. There is not one DPPt tree in this.

The cutting trees are also a bit different in the game as well. =D

I knew they had a GSC look to them I just wasn't sure.

They definitely look like how they used to, and it feels good as it gives a little memory of the original Johto.

I riped the trainer sprite and the tree, The difference between the d/p styled tree is the rough edges i think.
