    We have several items in Games which are of no competitively use like Mails, they are only some writings that we can write and give it to Pokemons and if we sell them they are so inexpensive so what is the use of them so far?, secondly we have gems they are good for Competitive use but they only enhance power of first move only but i said why they are of use if we have another items like Mystic water,Charcoal,Soft Sand.......and almost every type enhancing items? Do you think they are so useless to the game after the introduction to the other cheap and more useful ones? You can share your any Thoughts and Experiences.

    Mail is nice simply for the ability to send people little messages and things. What you can type is limited but not that limited so long as you're creative. I use to send little cute notes to my fiancee and she'd send them back to me just for fun.

    As for the other items... I've never really used them, so I can't say. I knew there were Gems but I honestly could have never told you their purpose.

    I've been in a few discussions about this, and I don't recall ever mentioning mail. And why is that? Mail is so bad that I literally completely forgot it existed. I have played all the games but those items completely slipped my mind and now I'm reminded exactly how useless they are. It's a shame, but maybe they can spruce these up somehow with new Wifi abilities.

    Items like Mail are almost completely useless, they don't do anything practical and they don't even sell much as well. The only good thing that I can think of from those mails are their beautiful art. Otherwise it's a waster of space in the bag or game memory for creating it.

    Fortunately they are completely erased from Generation VI. They can only be slightly useful if they can be easily sent like Swap Notes but with restricted Easy Chat System.

    Mail was always sort of like a novelty item of some sort...like, if you had a group of friends IRL, it would be kind of a fun, gimmicky way to send messages to each other, but since there are like a million other ways to do that, then sending mail to one another has basically been redundant. x_x;

    I also think certain Incenses are useless mostly because I don't understand the general point of their existence other than giving (insert type here) a 5-10% boost in a given move that probably won't matter a whole lot in the long run.

    Incense makes Pokemon learn those moves which they can't learn through normally levelling up the only reason for the introduction of Incense i think but it is useless as those moves should be added to Tms rather than breeding to get those move, yeah, Incense boosts is very bad as comparison to Mystic Water, Soft Sand etc, so it need to be completely removed.

    I did love the background of them, but Mail was just one of the worst items to have ever been made in the series. I was actually happy about their removal in 6th Gen, because there was literally no use for them and most people wouldn't even bother.

    The mails were something that served little purpose other than to be cute while trading, but I didn't think there was anything exactly wrong with them. They might be of more substance what with better Wi-Fi capabilities now.

    And I like the type boosting items (at least in Generation IV and later when they're 20% boosts), even if they're not competitive items except maybe the Expert Belt (and I don't play competitive anyway).

    I understand the purpose of Mail. I believe in Japan, it was a cute way to communicate to friends without the use of cellphones. Mail here in the states is pretty useless since texting is free for the most part. I hear that in Japan, cell phones do not have unlimited plans (unless that has changed in the recent years), so texting would be really expensive.

    Gems do have a particular use in competitive play. I really miss the other elemental gems cause it helps trigger abilities like Unburden. Imagine an Unburden Sceptile with a Grass Gem. But I suppose a Normal Gem is the best item for those Unburden players who use Fake Out.

    Mail seemed like a neat thing when I was a kid, but now I see how it really doesn't do anything for the game and would only be for personal use now.
