Outside of Garchomp and maybe her bulky Milotic there's nothing overly difficult in Cynthia's team. Lucario is a cool Pokemon but can't take a hit, Roserade has a lot of weaknesses and whilst Gastrodon is a solid Pokemon I'm not sure what it is doing on a Champion's team. The level spike between the Elite Four and the rest of the game seems cheap but is offset by all of the Elite Four other than the Psychic one having bad teams.

In comparison for Unova it seems to be the other way around. I lost 3 Pokemon to the Elite Four but beat N and Ghetsis easily.

As for Sun/Moon the amount of Gen 1 pandering was annoying. Only Gen 1 Alolan forms and new Pokemon like Stufful being really rare encounters whilst junk like Fearow was everywhere.

Considering you can find freakin' Salamence at level 10 in Sun and Moon, I think the days of under levelled AI Pokemon being a ridiculous thing are coming to an end...this is to say nothing of the Level 1 Dialga/Palkia/Giratina you could get in HGSS in Gen IV anyway.

I never even found a Bagon, although I looked. The calling for help feature was really one that should have had some kind of block to it. It worked more often than not and made catching things infuriating...

There were far too many super rare encounters in Sun/Moon including inexplicably new Pokemon. It's as if someone at Game Freak remembered how frustrating people got looking for Ralts near Petalburg in the Gen 3 games and decided to do something similar on nearly every route.

Also is Fearow someone at Game Freak favourite Pokemon or something? How does this most unremarkable of Normal/Flying types manage to get into so many games?

The only non-Kanto/Johto regional Dexes Fearow has been are Kalos and Alola. So definitely not favouritism.

But then again we get stuff like Magikarp, Tentacool, Zubat, Abra, Machop, Goldeen and Magnemite appearing in every single regional Dex.

I don't think much thought is ever really put into regional dexes. I mean, if there was, we wouldn't get the same staple crap in each dex...and they would be better balanced. Gen III was oversaturated (haha) with water-types, there were maybe three or four fire-types in Gen IV, and Gen VII had too many grass-types and nowhere near enough water-types...

I think the Psyduck line has been in every dex and do not remember seeing any Machop anywhere in Unova. Also Unova is the only region where you cannot catch a Pikachu.

Other than the overabundance of mediocre Gen 1 Pokemon the Alola Dex was fairly solid. I would have liked to have seen the Frillish line in over the forgettable Tentacool line though and no Ralts anywhere was an odd choice.

On the note of too many Grass types we have gone from no Grass/Ghost types at all to three lines and Decidueye in two gens.

Well, Machop is no great loss, really...fighting type Pokemon are universally gross =x

I really think they could stand to balance regional Pokedexes a little better in the games in general, honestly...or do the decent thing and have everything available across both games. How Gen VII will squeeze in the 500 Pokemon Sun and Moon didn't include I do not know...

There are some elegant Fighting Types out there, like Mienshao and Virizion.

The star of my Pearl team so far is my Machop. She would be even better with No Guard instead of Guts.

I am guessing the Pokebank is for filling Pokedex holes for now but Stars may include Mirage Islands again with the missing Pokemon.

Ya, but doesn't it kinda make sense, I mean they're in the Human-Like Egg group.

Pika Pika :chu:
