Watch out for Ghosts...

What was wrong with the old one? Ever heard of the cliche saying of "If it ain't broke, don't f#@$& with it?" Being PMD though, unless you got inside scoop on a new PMD title, kind of pointless to have it unless it's to honor FTE(although wouldn't Fire Emblem be better? Meh...)

77.

Hey I mean. Sometimes it's good to have a change of pace! Nothing wrong with that! I mean the last one was Pokemon Puzzle League so if the old one can be that why can't the next one be PMD like why does there have to be some reason like a new PMD game???

though a new PMD game would be neat. Even if none of the ones after Sky have compared to it.

(the only reason why I was sad to see it go was because I was the one who original made the splash when I was mod of this section lol).

I'm just the type of person that doesn't like change unless there is a very good reason for it. Basically I'm that stick in the mud that refuses to do much of anything unless I absolutely have to if that makes any sense. In any case, its been a long time since FTE was at intermission. Haven't looked but I think the last time we were on break was back during Halloween(yeah its been that long lol).

Got to work on getting this count higher. Can't be the only permanent Ghost here...

Only if I get to be the next ghost. :P

So guys, when I eventually get around to replaying Explorers of Sky, I'm torn between two options...

1) Letting the quiz dictate my starter for the first time (which is 99% going to be timid Turtwig haha, cute choice I like it!) and choose the best partner match, or:

2) A team of little birbs who save the world!! Piplup and Torchic. Come on, wouldn't that be adorable? Help me decide. ;__;

My original duo was Shinx and Vulpix. ♡ As unbeatable as they were, it's time for a change!

NOTE: I rarely ever evolve my starters so no need to take that into consideration!

Never played it so how about I randomly pick two from the list for you? Starter = Pikachu. Partner = Eevee

84

Eh if you had to go with Turtwig(Grass/Ground if evolved), Pikachu(Electric) or a Fire type like Vulpix(because she's OP) would be my partner pick. Don't have to go with that but eh that's just me.

If I was to play it, I think I'd probably go with Vulpix as my starter(don't have to explain why). Since Vulpix covers Bug, Grass, Ice and Steel, I'd need something to cover Vulpix's weakness or Water, Ground, and Rock. A good compliment in that case would be a Grass Type, particularly since both could benefit from Sunny Day. However, I'd probably pick Eevee so I could evolve him(or her... never know) into Leafeon. Leafeon learns Sunny Day and it's ability makes it all the better. I mean if I was doing a Gym, my two partners would be Vulpix(or Ninetales) and Leafeon.

Well a Water/Dragon would do that. Since Fairy doesn't exist, it's lone weakness is Dragon and unfortunately, no one but I think Charmander line learns any Dragon moves. Fire would obviously have a very difficult time and even Grass would suffer thanks to Dragon Resistance.

Another pairing I was considering was Phanpy and Eevee(with it evolving into Glaceon).

yeeeppp. Well, Eevee wasn't evolved (neither of them were) so Eevee was normal which might have helped... a little? idk I just remember a lot of items.

Maybe tomorrow I'll at least take the quiz and see who I'll end up being. I have a feeling my answers are going to be different than last time because I've changed as a person.

Believe it or not, you can rig the system to get the particular nature or Pokémon you want so long as you know which nature and gender to shoot for(ironically Vulpix and Eevee would both be female hah). Granted if you want to answer truthfully, who am I to argue. I just wish they'd add a mechanism that does one of two things. 1) Picking your starter and partner outright. If you know what you want, there should be no issue in doing so. 2) Randomize it by allowing the game determine your starter. The quiz is a decent means of doing so but as I said above, the Quiz can be rigged. Better off with a simple random number generator picking the starter for you.

I just like Grass/Fire combos because they both benefit from Sunny Day. Fire Types get stronger while Grass Types can recover faster via Synthesis and powers up Solar Beam. The downside to that is that opposing Fire Types would be a pain to handle unless you got a counter to them(hence Torterra would work if you can teach it Sunny Day).

From what I read it's not available in all PMD games, hence that's why I made that comment. If I was to make a modern or new PMD game, I'd have 40 Pokémon to choose from. 24 of them would be the regional starters from each region, including the new Galar ones. I'd then add in old favorites like Pikachu and Kanto Vulpix but I'd add Alolan Vulpix, replace Phanpy with Sandshrew(and it's Alolan cousin), have Eevee(along with a mechanism to evolve it into Sylveon), Munchlax, Skitty, Riolu, Shinx, Meowth(and it's Alolan cousin), Rockruff, Pachirisu, Axew(gasp! A Dragon starter! Thank Iris for that) and Ralts(which depending on whether it's Male or Female determines its final form).

There wouldn't be a quiz to determine your starter but merely a Random number generator that goes from 1-40. Each Pokemon is assigned a number and whatever the RNG picks is your starter if you opt to not pick outright. Then you can pick whatever partner you want. There's no type limitations so if you want two Water types(for whatever reason), who am I to prevent that. Just don't come crying to me when you run into a ton of Grass and Electric Types. Only types not represented are Bug and Ghost, although Rowlet does evolve into Grass/Ghost and some learn Bug Type moves like Jolteon with Pin Missile.

Eh I might have the Quiz option if only to keep the tradition as they say. That said, I've been looking at PMD games and the starter roster has always consisted of roughly 16 to 20 Pokémon. If I was making a new game, I'd double the pool in order to include all the regional starters(like Super Mystery Dungeon did at the time) while bringing back old favorites and including some new ones(notably Alolan variants). I just have no idea as to what the story would be about but FTE is doing a decent job at it to say the least.
