Have you ever ever ran into a full-odds shiny Pokemon that you weren't going for? Just happened to walk into the grass and it just... kinda happened? Which Pokemon was it and what game were you playing?

Only once, with a Safari Zone Oddish in Sapphire that I don't have anymore.

I have gotten full-odds Pokerus twice, though.

    • Hypno (or Drowzee?) in one of the Generation 2 Johto games.
    • Tympole in Black
    • Helioptile in X
    • Mankey in Moon
    • Alolan Raticate in Moon or Ultra Sun. (Separate playthrough from the one above.)

Caught all of them, save for the first, before the Elite Four. Cannot remember Scarlet as clearly. Definitely beat the game before seeing the first shiny (Bronzor). May or may not have gotten the Shiny Charm by then. Could have gotten other shinies in other games at full odds too. Will not mention them due to the same uncertainty.

Nice! & to add the stress of the Safari Zone - sheesh! & the Pokerus is even more rare, if I remember correctly. That's pretty cool to get it twice - I think I only ever got it once and didn't even know what it was because it was fairly early into me playing the games.

That's a pretty nice list there! Not counting the new games because of their ability to run through so many Pokemon in such a short time with overworld Pokes, I think you have me beat on the full odds.

I stumbled across a Doduo and Geodude at full odds. One in Emerald and one in Radical Red of all games.

Do you like to shiny hunt?

Not particularly. Hunted for a bunch of shinies in Scarlet due to being fairly quick. Never really bothered in previous generations. Does not really care for the look of many shinies to begin with. Plus, what good is a shiny you will stash in a box and never use?

I haven't thought about it that way, but it makes sense & I think subconsciously I was doing the same thing. I would only shiny hunt what I wanted in a competitive team & maybe a legend or two.

Golbat, Weedle, and Pidgey in Silver and Nidoran-M in FireRed (Safari Zone) were some of my earliest. I sadly don't have them anymore. :(

Most my Shinies these days are hunted/found while hunting, but I have found several surprise Shinies! A Koffing (Crystal), Hoothoot (HeartGold), Minun (Emerald), Marill (Platinum), Tentacool (Sapphire), Magnemite (SoulSilver iirc), Herdier (Black2)—and a Shiny Porygon (Platinum) while SRing natures as well as a my very first overworld Rockruff in Sword (non-brilliant), if those count—plus a handful of others that popped up while EV-training/level-grinding. My absolute favorite though was an Eevee (now Flareon) that appeared near the end of an X WonderLocke while I was looking for a rainy route to evolve my Sliggoo. Chipotle. <3

    Shiny Hariyama in Emerald.
Both a Shiny Graveler and Magneton in HeartGold on the same playthrough.
    Shiny Foongus in Black.
    Shiny Ariados in Moon.

None were hunted and just showed up. Also came across a bunch of Shiny Pokemon I didn't hunt for in Shield, but I did have the shiny charm by that point. Chewtle, Tsareena, Stufful, Cutiefly, Heatmor, Cubchoo, Mime Jr. Wobbuffet. Pretty much all overworld encounters I accidentally bumped into and they turned out to be shiny.

It's happened a few times and it's always a really nice treat when it does. The first shiny I ever remember finding was a full-odds Sewaddle in BW. After shiny breeding some stuff I've gotten kinda desensitized to the moment when you ultimately find a shiny, but just happening to run into a shiny Palkia in Ultra Moon and catching it in a Quick Ball on turn 1 after thinking "eh, why not" was really pleasant.
There was a time when I was really depressed and went back to play Pokemon Platinum to cheer myself up, and ran into a shiny Starly super early-on. Thankfully I had Pokeballs by that point and I felt blessed rather than the alternative that could've happened...
