What are your favorite animal characters?

Talk about your favorite animal characters in anime/manga! They can be anything, even shape-shifters who also have human forms or sentient stuffed animals/robots. Fantasy creatures are fine, too. Perhaps they have an integral role to the story or are simply cute mascots... (or both!) No Pokemon here, as you can talk about your fave Pokemon in the other subforums dedicated to it. Screencaps, official art, etc. are encouraged~

Ah yes... Monokuma. Among the beary best antagonists along with the character operating him. I've laughed so many times because of their dialogue. I think what I may remember the most about Monokuma in the anime specifically was that... dance... he does in the opening theme. xD

I remember watching that show back in the day on 4kids. Kirby is adorable, kind, and possesses a bottomless stomach. But I also am entertained by King Dedede.

That sounds like something Monokuma would say...
He's portrayed as more evil in the show than he usually is in the games, but he literally has no brain so he can never really do much as far as mischief goes. Mostly just a harmless villain butt-monkey akin to Team Rocket in the Pokemon Anime. I think the main reason I like him is because he is a fat penguin. I have a soft spot for penguins.

Pen-Pen from Neon Genesis Evangelion

He's sort of the unofficial animal mascot of the seires. He doesn't really serve any purpose in the plot other than to be cute I guess. He's a special penguin since in this series the environment is all jacked up. He was rescued and lives with one of the characters where he spends most of his time doing human-like things such as watching tv, bathing in hot springs, eating human food, and drinking beer (shown above.)

The Penguin Trio from Mawaru Penguindrum

Cute and mysterious unnamed penguins delivered to the house of the three protagonists after a fateful encounter. Only the three protagonists can see them... Their surface-level purpose in the story is random and quirky background activity to keep the atmosphere light even in tense plot points. They also reflect the characteristics of the character they're linked to on a micro-scale. Beyond that, there's a lot going on a subtextual level... but I doubt anyone wants to hear that so I'll just move on. xD

Ah Kero's a memorable mascot! I like his majestic true form as well.

It's a shame Kero is often forgotten in this day and age due to being overshadowed by other mascot characters in the magical girl genre.

Yo shout out to our boy (and best pig) Hawk!

I find it hilarious that week to week you have these overpowered powerhouses running around blowing things up with their fists due to sheer strengtheach fight and then you have Hawk running away tactically retreating. Every. Time. His interactions with Melodias are hilarious and omg hes so cute.

I didn't use him, though :/ Aigis and Aki were too strong to pass up =D

Never apologize for loving cats! I like 'em too, and there are many of them in anime... some of which have already been mentioned in this thread.
As for some of my feline favorites...

Kirara from inuyasha. A fan favorite who also has a big form that can fly, as I'm sure you know!

Chi from Chi's Sweet Home! Probably one of the cutest baby kitties I've ever seen in animation in general.

In regards to Sailor Moon, peeps always talk about Luna and Artemis, but I'm gonna vouch for Rhett Butler, the really fat tomcat who only appeared in one or two episodes. He's named after the character from the film "Gone with the Wind" and I also thought his crush on Luna was kinda cute... I probably just have a soft spot for fat cats.

Kyo Sohma from Fruits Basket. Probably one of the most popular male characters in the shoujo genre back in the early 2000s. This is his cat form.
