Cause oh gods, we haven't had a topic like this in a long while! Still though, what are your favourite boss battles? And this can include:

-Normal Bosses to progress through the story
-Secret Bosses that are optional to battle against
    -Final Bosses
    -Fake Bosses
-Anything that has to do with bosses in a game

So, what/whom are your favourite bosses, as well as your favourite boss fights, and why?

    Ah, for example, here's mine:

Ashera from Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn. She's.. arguably the hardest Final Boss in the whole Fire Emblem franchise, with all good reason. First you'd have to break each one of her protective 'auras', other wise you won't be able to actually combat her. Even when you've destroyed the auras, there's another catch if you'd want to defeat her - you have to beat her with only the weapons that were 'blessed', which you'll be able to have your weapons blessed at an earlier part of the final chapter, but, yes, it's the only way to harm her or else you won't deal any damage.

But even if you're attempting to kill her with a blessed weapon, she does a ton, and another ton of damage, so, you'd have to pick the right units for your party before rushing in the final chapter, or else you'll find that your units will one by one be all slaughtered, ahaha.. Each turn she damages everyone of your units, and she does really big damage with her Judgment attack. Even if you do kill her, she'll automatically be brought to life, unless you bring her down with Ike. Ugh.

Also for me, if you've played Kid Icarus Uprising:

Hades. I dare you to play him in Difficulty 9. :3
    Normally he's not too big of a deal to fight against in lower difficulties, but he's still generally a real tough one, imo, especially with his BLUE AND PURPLE SQUARES OF DEATH AND his constant spamage of his doom lasers. Seriously though, don't underestimate the amount of damage Hades can dish out over time. @_@;

For some reason I find the final boss of Smash Bros Brawl's Subspace Emissary to be quite fun. It can be quite challenging on the highest difficulty, but I did it and it was fun. I won't go into detail to avoid spoilers.

Also, most LoZ bosses are cool as well. Some of them are annoying to fight (Shadow Temple boss, anyone?), but most of them are always a fun fight and the games do a great job of giving you that feeling like you've made a really epic accomplishment by taking them down. Especially with that 'defeated' tune that plays when you beat 'em.

    Metal Gear Rising. Pick any.

Not just because they're fun to play against, but the music are what really makes these bosses. It subtly builds up as the fight goes on, and when the boss reaches critical health? Lyrics kick in. Nothing is more hype than Metal Gear Rising bosses.

    Seriously

Honourable mention goes to Metal Gear Solid 3's The End

When comes to my favorite boss battles, one of my favorites is Gilgamesh from the Final Fantasy series. He is really fun to battle. Plus his battle music, "Battle on the Big Bridge" is quite awesome as well. How great is he? Well he appears in almost every main Final Fantasy game. He could be considered THE Ensemble Darkhorse for the Final Fantasy series.

Big Arm from Sonic 3 is one of my favorite boss fights in the Sonic Series. It's very challenging and actually requires you to use platforming skills to defeat it instead of just jumping on its head several times. Unfortunately, I can only find footage for the 3DS Sonic Generations version of the actual fight, and it appears to not be as good. Here's the classic music tho!

    Wow, that's a tough one.

I'd probably say Ballos from Cave story. It wasn't the boss so much as the stage, since I had so much trouble just getting to him, it made it feel far more rewarding when I beat him.

I've always enjoyed battling against Demise in Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Of all games of this series, I would this guy would be one of the best bosses.

When I'd first went up against him, things were rather difficult, as I didn't have much of a good strategy. In order to hurt him, you would have to raise your sword towards the sky and charge with lighting; afterward, you're required to send a beam of light towards Demise by making some fast-paced movements with your sword. Though, charging is the toughest process, as he would come rushing at you before you were able to complete. If he manages to strike you, you would have to go through the entire thing one-by-one.

Aside from him, I'm also a pretty huge fan of Duo from Megaman Battle Network 4. I've fought him approximately three to six times, all of which were rather heart-pumping. He'd hit you with a variety of attacks all at once, and our job is to dodge them all and strike back. What I tended to do was utilize a lot of program-advance; they were difficult to put together, but they did cause about ten-times more damage than regular battle chips.

Master Hand in the original Super Smash Bros, Giga Bowser in Melee, and Crazy hand in Melee and Smash 4. In the first one, it was so crazy like - the final fight didn't even get an intro just an ominous noise and screen... and it turns out you're fighting the thing that brought all the nintendo characters to life in the title movie, it's like - you're killing the universes god or something haha.

Other than that, Atheon in Destiny is an absolutely amazing fight. It's a giant chrome and glass robot, that towers like 2 stories tall, can itself travel through time, and can throw you through time at will, and you have to beat it. It's nuts. Plus, while you fight it - you can fight your way through time back to to the point where you're battling him, and time itself helps you out in rage of Atheon f*cking with it. Once you come back through the portal to the present, you get a buff called "Time's Vengeance' where you deal 10 times as much damage to him, and at the bottom of the screen in the kill feed it reads out; "The Guardians make their own fate!" as you come back to mess him up.

That - is the highest standard of boss fight I've ever seen.

How could I forget about his guy? He's probably my favorite final boss out of the series, and the most difficult as well.

    "Favorite Boss Battles"
...The first thing that comes to my mind are the Colossus battles in Shadow of the Colossus. The scale, thrilling music, puzzle elements to finding their weakness... I love it. One of my favorite PS2 games.

My favorite boss battle is Giga Skullmageddon in Double Dragon Neon. Fast paced? Yes. Awesome Music? Check. Corny Jokes? Check. Hilarious Music in the credits? Oh heck yes.

Adolf Hitler. Because hell, why not? Wolfenstein 3D brings back memories, though...

Gilgamesh from Final Fantasy V. He was pretty awesome, in addition to his sick theme tune that plays whenever you battle him. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that you get to battle him 6 times! He turns "good" at the final one and sacrifices himself, though :( Oh, and you can steal all the Genji armour pieces from him.

Gah, this makes me want to play FFV some more :(

For me, one of my favourites is fighting Gwyn, Lord of Cinder from Dark Souls 1. The music that plays as soon as you enter the fog gate is amazing and sets the tone for a very solemn fight. It also culminates the idea that in Dark Souls, you start off as a nobody-undead who MIGHT fulfill some sort of vague prophecy. You hear about Lords/Gods that have done wondrous things and really early in the game you fight against Black Knights which are essentially the final boss' main minions. They kick your butt so hard and feel impossible to fight. Throughout the game you have lots of different challenges that kill you, MANY times over. then you reach the final level, you fight 5 (I think?) Black Knights, one at a time... and they're all super easy. You enter the fog gate and BAM, the final boss jumps on you. You parry him and kill him. Game over. The whole feeling of dread you feel throughout the entire game, and suddenly you realize that you (as a player AND your character) have grown much stronger (your own personal skill level) such that the enemies that gave you a rediculous amount of trouble at first are nothing before you now.

The final fights with Ganondorf and Demise (Windwaker, Twilight Princess, and Skyward Sword respectively). Just great sword fighting action with epic music. Wind Waker would probably be my favorite because it had the perfect atmosphere and Zelda helping you out was a nice touch. I usually get myself hurt to keep the fights going a little longer because they're pretty easy, unfortunately.
