    Are you a collector? What do you collect? How did you get into this collection? How long have you been collecting?

    I collect Pokémon merch and Disney films. I got into Pokémon through Livejournal, the Disney films were my own idea since I didn't have very many. I started my Pokémon collection 9 months ago, the Disney film collection began about 2 months ago.

    From watching too much anime/reading too much manga.

    Yugioh cards
    How did you get into this collection?
    I recently realized that Yugioh is much more complicated and mathematical than the "lol my monstr hav more atk than u i win" game I remembered from my elementary school years. Since it requires strategy, it naturally becomes a very interesting game. Thus, after all these years, I got into it again. And even though I could just use the computer for simulations, decide upon a deck, and purchase those cards individually online, I still collect tons of cards the old fashion way because they are nice to look at.
    How long have you been collecting?
    About a month.
     
    I've been collecting badges for a year or so, Yu-Gi-Oh cards for maybe six months, anime and manga for about a year, and keyrings for a few years, though I haven't got any more lately.

    Trading cards are expensive T_T Seven dollars for nine of them? It's patently ridiculous.

    Just over the years when I was growing up, I just liked the gaming industry and I just chose not to get rid of any games or consoles.

    n_n well when I was little I decided to try to get everything pikachu and I've kinda stuck by it XD

    since I was about 8 or 9
     
    I...like to collect bookmarks! Started mostly out of convenience because I read a lot, but I eventually found myself growing a nifty sized collection. I haven't actually been collecting for more than a year, probably a couple of months at the most, but I can see it being something I'll be doing for quite some time. My favorites are a cloth bookmark that has the Ravenclaw insignia on it and a plastic bookmark with koi fish on the front and an old saying on the back.

    At the moment, JLS CD's, Pokemon based things (Plushes, DVDs, Posters) and Teddy Bears.

    How did you get into this collection?
    JLS CD's: I brought my first JLS CD last year and I loved it, so I've decided to try and collect more of them.

    Pokemon based things: It all started off with a Pikachu Plush my Father bought me for my 4th birthday and I just collected more and more.

    Teddy Bears: I just keep being given them by relatives and friends.

    JLS CDs: a Year
    Pokemon: Ufff... a long time, I suppose.
    Teddy bears: Same as the Pokemon one, "a long time".
     
    I collect vinyl records simply because I love music and have been meaning to for a long time. Only started a few months ago, but I've already managed to get quite a few bargains of some of my favourite records.

    That's about it for the moment. I used to get Yu-Gi-Oh and Warhammer like a lot of people when they were in school. But have long since abandoned them. Me and my brother also have a half-assed manga collection going on that barely took off. Between the two of us we've got all the Death Note volumes and 3 Higurashi volumes; but then we both just got bored pretty quickly. xD
     
    I collect food, but my collection never seems to get any bigger.

    I guess I collect books. I have a good amount of music and manga, too. I don't collect anything for the sake of collecting though. I like things I can use. I guess I started when I first had money of my own to spend since most of what I buy has always been music of books or something like that.

    God, this is going back a bit. When I was much younger, I collected the crap out of Beanie Babies for about 4-5 years. By the time I was about 11, I probably had over a hundred or so. The weird thing was that I didn't actually care about them to look at, I just liked collecting them for the sake of it. I'd get magazines telling me where new ones would be selling and how much each of them was worth. I knew which ones were rarer than others and which ones had to be imported in from different countries and which ones were limited edition and all sorts of info like that.

    And then one day, when I was about 12 or 13, I just lost all interest in them. Like, completely! They're all currently up in the attic, on a pipe dream that they'll become valuable enough to sell down the road. Don't know if that day is going to come any time soon, if at all, but they'll be up there until it does.

    Apart from that, I'm not a big collector. That was the only example, really!

    I collect YUGIOH!!! I have a small Pokemon collection as well. I began collecting the Pokemon TCG as a kid. Base set, Jungle set, and the one after I believe. Then I ditched Pokemon, and got into YUGIOH!!! It is now the TCG of my choice, and I've been collecting them for a good seven years now or so. For me, YUGIOH!!! is a competitive hobby and that requires a good investment of money and time. Hence, the need to have a decent collection of cards.

    I'm a librarian. I like to go to Goodwill and thrift stores and see if there are any good books without homes. So far I have about 15-20 books. I hope to have a pretty good sized library one day.
     
    Right now I don't really collect much of anything, except maybe pretty journals. I write as a hobby, so naturally I like notebooks. But most of the really pretty ones I never get around to writing in them! ^^;

    When I was younger, I collected Beanie Babies. Almost all of them are at home in a bag somewhere. I only have two with me right now: one of the Sakura bears from when I lived in Japan, and one of the cats from one of the older generations, which were sold last year in a local grocery store. What's up with that?
     
    I collect a vast amount of seashells, pokemon merch and buttons. You know, when you go to Hot Topic and Spencer's or those similar stores that they sell for $1.99. Yeah, I collect those. How did I get into these collections? Well it's a pretty long story. It all starts with a simple fascination.

    I dunno like 10 years for consoles? Started by my dad giving me his NES about a year before the N64 came out
    Only a few years with shoes, SInce I could afford to have a lot :3
     
    I've collected LEGOs and Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh! cards. I got all 3 of those collections during my childhood and I've collected them over the past 10 years or so.
